  1. im well aware of the fact that davies absolutely destroyed ayers at usatf (at wouldnt have prefaced my fact about state if i thought ayers was truly superior); he should, the hurdle height kills ayers as does the throwing; make no mistake i think davies is a far superior decathelete to ayers he just needs to improve his jumping some and his 1500; he will break the state record and probably win some national titles fi he can stay healthy; i see davies as a serious athlete, sub 50, over 50' and 140' ; personally i just find the javelin irrelevant to discussing TN's best track athlete because TN does not sanction the event; its like talking about the steeplechase, and colleges wont care what he can throw even though i bet he goes over 210' by the time he graduates bc he will be so good at other events
  2. and ayers is better than davies (at least according to the state meet); and what does it matter if davies can throw the javelin? last time i was at the state meet in TN the javelin wasnt contested, however i wil grant the fact that ben is an absolutely amazing thrower
  3. give beasely, kottas, garret, wright, and brown some time to get their basketball legs under them and i bet they keep the turnovers down (which is what really cost them the game) as well as have some strength and fitness left in the 4th quarter; not saying they'll win but the team will certainly be much improved; also BA is a very beatable team if someone shoots lights out or is simply much more athletic at the guard position
  4. no doubt this is where barry turner will be missed, but then again ba has three guys over 6'6 in wright x2 (i think) and brown...correct me if im wrong just going by memory
  5. The reason GJ is not a better runner is that he is very hit or miss and that he has not shown much else besides a remarkable 800m run last april, I know he was hurt but that is the ONLY mark that he has run that is national class and I believe the only one that was sub 1:52. GJ is not a god at the 400 either, could he do the double? doubtful, but even more doubtful that he will even give it a go. Show me a sub 50 4x4 split after the 1:52 then he is a god. But there have been to many guys lately that have run better 400-800 doubles than GJ to label him a god. I still put guys who have run much, much slower than GJ ahead of him for the ability to really show they are the best when it counts, Chuili, Bach, Bumbalough, Hodge, and Kelvin Hill as a whole has been more impressive that GJ. Is he good? Yes, exceptional but he has Never, ever shown that spark that the above guys had that when it was time to put it down on people they could do it to whoever-whenever. and for the record, get your facts straight-gj is the #9 returning 800m http://dyestat.com/3rank/5out/dse-final-aug10-boys.htm which is the same rank as sorrell in the 1600 so i wouldnt call him the best single event runner in TN either
  6. you dont have to race rob sorrell for me to say that his is simply better than you, i didnt know that you beat smalling once, but i stand by my claim that he is a better runner than you, just like xcmiler was saying you're the best runner in a/aa, even if gj beats you i still think you're the better runner, same thing with rommel last year; again you dont have to race head to head for me to say that they are better than you, they have all put up some impressive marks over the past year; if you put up some equally impressive marks i will be the first to congratulate you; but they are 10th-12th at FL, with the others being the 1 and 2 returners; you won a/aa (but as you always claim, there wasnt anyone to push you)
  7. unless you are talking about a/aa your pretty wrong, BA ran 7:53 earlier in the year ALL alone so don't spew garbage on here about how you need comp to run fast; these excuses are constantly given, why dont you take your awesome team to Penn, Mobile, or Arcadia; or if you want a fast 4x8 go to BA's home meet in april, the past two years it has been won in 7:53 or faster also why doesnt your team want to run fast at the state meet, are you saving yourselves for AOC, AAU, golden south? why just "run to win" real champions get it done regardless of who is in the race, rob didnt need to run that fast in the AAA races to win, and bumbalough didnt need to run 14:36 at fl to win nor did he need to run 8:57 to win the regional 3200, but both those guys still showed up and gave it there best shots, and these were run knowing they had some big meets left
  8. in what universe? NO ONE in the past decade besides Bumbalough or maybe, maybe secoya hodge could beat GJ, NO ONE- and personally it think GJ is a tool; most? hmmm, sorrel, smalling, hannah, berry, and devinne ALL better, last time i checked he not was all south at FL nor the number 1 returner for next year, also clay adams is clearly a better runner as is alex harris
  9. newsflash: real champions dont need people to push them, guys like baska, miller, bumbalough, weaver, chuili, sorrell, harris...good for you, you won and on that i congratulate you...but then again it is A/AA you are not even top ten in the state, and dont give me that "i had no one to push me, or i only ran to win" real champs dont need people to push them when they are that much better than people (as you claim) go run fl south, show us how fast you are
  10. except for BA and MLK BA-1,2 MLK-5,2 BHS-6,4
  11. I may be missing something but i dont understand what you mean.
  12. Yeah Bach really hurt himself by playing football his senior year and i believe playing basketball most other years. Personally i think he could have run 4:10 for the 1600 if he had been able to train consistently. Chuili's times come from the mobile meet his senior year when he won the mile and placed third in the 800. I also think he could have run sub 4:10 if he had trained like he is now. I still think his double at vol indoor was one of the most underated runs in TN history.
  13. You're right. I didnt have my book in front of me, Bach was probably a better example. But i was a little off on chuilli's times anyway: B-800 1:53.55 Chiulli, Anthony, 2003, Christian Brothers TN 3 B-Mile 4:14.27 Chiulli, Anthony, 2003, Christian Brothers TN 1 i think those are hs career best
  14. Daniels (and most other's) conversion assume that the runner is of equal ability at both distances, which is simply not the case of most runners. I dont have the chart in front of me but I assume that 8:49 is better than 1:54 in the case of Bumbalough. Chuili and Bach are other good examples of the conversion not working out both were sub 1:55 with sub 50.xx speed but both were unable to run 4:11 (though in chuili's case I think that he ran 4:13 for yards in mobile?)
  15. tom devinne put on a clinic on how to run a two mile up in lexington winning in 9:3x for yards, and clay hannah ran 4:25 for yards in the same meet
