  1. From the outside looking in, I think Stevens would be a great choice. The only problem is that he's happy where he is, or at least that is what one of his assistant coaches told me. I think he would do a great job there. Personally, I think if I was hiring anyone, and I'm not even sure he is in the running, I would try to steal Jim Gaylor from Maryville. He produced a state chamionship team at Clinton during his tenure, and hasn't done anything but great things at Marvyille. He's probably the most underrated asst coach out there. That is just my humble opinion. I also think that the head coach at Campbell County High School might be a good option. (sorry, can't remember his name) I don't think he will ever do anything great there because of the lack of talent, but they did get to the playoffs for the first time in history this past year. Who knows?
  2. I'm not going to say that Clinton is going to the playoff, or even have a shot at their region, but I promise, after seeing their spring workouts, they will be competitive with almost anyone they play. Andy has really done a great job there.
  3. If you have ever coached high school football, then you would know that the general policy is that it is the Principals decision who gets hired as the head coach. This was made apparent at Anderson County when Kerr was hired and in Clinton when Catlett was hired. I believe that this is a policy that should change. The hiring of a head coach should be a team effort between the AD, Principal, School Board and PTA. It's unfortunate that it's not. At the college level, head coaches are interviewed and hired by a board of trustees, which makes a lot more sense, and is usually voted on by the staff, faculty and alumni. Of course this is based on my only experience as a college coach at Maryville College. I would like to see high schools adapt a similar process.
