All depends on the same thing every game depends on. Good pitching, timely hitting, and NO key mistakes. I'd say Lipscomb is more likely to make a key mistake given equal opportunities, but pitching and timely hitting will be more important. Lipscombs #2 pitcher will start, Harpeth's #1. Should be good, close game.

It should be a very good game. Somebody keep updates coming through play. Is game time 3:00 p.m.? I heard Lexington graduation is that night, too!

I just heard from a mom with a son on the team that indeed the game is at shelby park with a 5:00 p.m. start - FWIW

in AA, several districts had both teams advance, and other districts had 0 wins in the opening round of regionals. I think that says more about the strength of certain districts than it does about upsets. Districts 2,4,8,14, and 16 all had two wins. Districts 1,3,7,13,15 had no wins. District 9 could have two wins and D 10 no wins if Lipscomb wins today. So far only 4 districts split 1W - 1L.

Just got word that the Lipscomb - MC game is cancelled today (from two sources). Guessing that there is enough weather uncertainty that MC won't be coming to Nashville to hang around for delays. No news on reschedule.

No Offense to MC - If they weren't good they probably wouldn't be in regionals. I have just heard the least about them this season, and Loretto has looked strong, so thus the conclusion. As I said, I hope the winners win (whoever they may be) based on play that earns a berth, rather than backing in due to the other team playing poorly.

Assuming Huff is okay, and his arm doesn't fall off before the end of the game, It is going to be pretty hard to score many runs. I saw what he did to DL (11K's in 4 innings!). I figure Merry will go for DL, but at this stage, I figure Marshall County the least likely of the 4 teams to advance. It's going to be all about pitching, errors, and a timely play here or there (offense or defense). What a cliche' but true. I hope the winners win and not the losers lose.

Crazy game. Started on time @ 7:00p.m. Lightning/rain delay, two power outage delays and 5 hours later it was all over. Ezell came back against Baumgartner/Lyons in the 7th with either 2 or 3 runs. Lyons got the blown save, but the victory. Ezell was home team, changed pitchers In the 12th, and DL scored 5 in the top. in the prior 4-5 innings EH pitched Huff, but they need him Monday and he had already pitched this Monday. He had a few walks, but only ONE ball was put in play while he pitched (pop to center). Every one else struck out! Great, memorable game from both teams.

Is Lipscomb a better team this year than last year? Also, I really do wonder how many times a state champ has repeated in baseball. With all the redistricting, who knows what will happen? Lipscomb is perennially competitive, but I don't think they are as strong as last year. You have to look at the competition beyond district also. East and West teams will seriously contend.

Probably not - how many back to back champs have there been? They lost their best pitcher, two of the best offensive players and probably some team speed. Pigeon Forge, Milan, Covington and all the other pretenders will be there in the end.
