Mathews was told to make a decision. He had applied at several schools, when the administration found out he was told to make a decision by the end of Christmas break. MC did not want someone to up and leave like the previous coach(Mcdaniel) did. Like I posted earlier, Atkins is OK as far as I know but has no stability. He seems to wear his welcome out very quick. Seems like about 2 years and he is off to another job. It is not smart to hire a Coach with a moving around history like that.

I don't think MC would consider Atkins. Just in a very short time Atkins has spent time at Spring Hill, Clay Co. system, East Ridge, somewhere in NC, somewhere in MS and Franklin Co. Moore county needs stability. Moore County has suffered much the same as UT. After Mccurry left and then the Price and Montoye era, Mcdaniels stayed one year and exited to Oakland at first chance then MC hired Mathews and he exits to Siegel. MC does not need a Coach that is always looking to leave. No requirement for the next Coach to run the Wing T and has never been. Lots of people like the Wing T because of past success. Atkins would not be well received in Lynchburg. Too many people already know too much about him and his son. Franklin Co. people never accepted him. I guess he is a Ok guy but just not a good fit for MC.

Atkins would be a terrible choice for Moore County. Moore County needs stability not another carpet bagger.

I think Mathews will wind up back at Tullahoma. I think he is the Coach in waiting for Tullahoma. Homeboy, very popular with Tullahoma folks. If Sam Melton, current OC does land a job at another school Mathews would be at Tullahoma in a wink of the eye.

I'm hearing that O cordinator Sam Melton is looking.

Rumor in Winchester is that The Head Coach has resigned. That would be some spice for Friday's game.

How many years has it been since this game really was worth talking about? Maybe 25-30 years? I expect it to be a hard fought game down to the final whistle. MC 28-Corndogs 26.

I had rather go with one assistant. Just about everyone has had all they want with the previous coaches.

Trouble lurks in the bushes if the new Coach has to use any of the former staff. I hope the Principal and Director of Schools knows that.

Most talent does not always win. The best team wins most of the time. If talent won MP would have already won a few State Titles.

I heard that it was a BGA assistant. He was going to announce on Monday of his decision.

Word on the street in Lynchburg is that Carlton Flatt accepted the Head Football Coaching position Friday. Assistants to be named.

I'll tell you this, money was not the issue with Flatt. He is ok with that part. Facilities and assistants is the issue that might keep Coach Flatt away. If Moore County can update the facilities and get Flatt 2 asssistants that he wants, it might be a deal.

Hot off the wire, Mac McCurry was in Lynchburg today. Not sure what the nature of business was. Maybe...naw I won't say it.

News Flash....Carlton Flatt applied yesterday in Lynchburg. His application stunned some folks.

When the word gets out that he is being considered I think their will be enough voices against, that the board won't support his hiring. Lots of old time MC people don't like him and he had some problems at Cornersville when he was there.

If your talking about Reggie Campbell coming to coach at Moore County your asking for trouble right off the start. That won't work.
