  1. I DID MANY MOONS AGO. OR, AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT IT FEELS LIKE.!! HAHA!
  2. This is the section of the article that talks about the challenge. Batter up: Wycheck accepted an on-air challenge to hit a fast-pitch softball from a female pitcher and former college player. Wycheck said on the air he did not enjoy watching women's fast-pitch softball because "every at-bat is either a strikeout or a home run.'' Earlier, he claimed he could hit a home run off University of Tennessee ace Monica Abbott. When Kristen Thomas, a former college player, called to debate Wycheck on the matter, they agreed to have her pitch to him in a challenge with proceeds going to charity. It'll happen next Friday morning during the show in Hendersonville at the Drakes Creek Softball Complex. The public is invited to watch Wycheck whiff or wallop the ball. The article in the Tennessean says Kristen Thomas, a former college pitcher agreed to pitch. It doesn't say anything about Rhodes or Cheri. So, is all that just a rumor or will others pitch to him. Please only post facts not rumors!
  3. Haven't heard but would love to be there!! I also heard that on the radio. He was making fun of girl's softball, but I think it was a publicity stunt for him and his show.
  4. Have word that a friend of mine has a 14u girls softball travel team based out of Savannah, TN that is looking for an additional pitcher. Team plays USSSA 14U. Has won both tournament championship played this summer. Tournaments left include; Franklin, TN; Brownsville, TN; Jackson, TN; and state tournament in Crossville, TN. Possible trip to world series. If interested in playing in any of these tournaments, contact Blake White at 731-926-5525 or 731-925-7934.
  5. HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF A 1ST ROUND OF DISTRICT TOURNAMENT TO BE CANCEALLED FOR A COACH TO TAKE HIS DAUGHTER ON A CHURCH TRIP? HE TOLD THE OTHER TEAMS THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE FIELDS WERE TOO WET, BUT THE PARKS AND REC DIRECTOR HAD BOTH FIELDS READY BY 12:00 PM. ON TOP OF THAT THE COACH FORGOT TO CALL AND TELL ONE OF THE TEAMS, SO THEY DROVE ALL THE WAY TO THE TOURNAMENT AND BEGAN WARMIMG UP ON THE SUPPOSED WET FIELDS. A PARENT SAW THEM AND STOPPED AND TOLD THE VISTING TEAM THE GAMES HAD BEEN CANCEALLED. CAN THAT COACH BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT? IF NOT HE SHOULD!
  6. Sorry, but they lost to Hardin County 14-2 last night.
  7. Just wondering what teams are playing in the McKenzie tournamemt Saturday (March 18) and what players to watch for?
  8. The pitcher for Hardin County Cassie White looked really good.
  9. Deuce, Magnet schools are for exceptional students, therefore if they are selected to attend those school they are "deemed" zoned for that school. As far as kids playing out of zoning or living with relatives those athletes are considered ineligible by the TSSAA and the should be reported. The following has been taken directly from the TSSAA elegibilty section of their website. · Athletes must live at home with their parents. · In order for a transfer student with an athletic record to be eligible at another school there must be a bona fide change of residence by the athlete's parents. And, I agree. All teams that made it to the state Congratulations!! That is an excellent achievement and I know they all worked hard! And hats off for all the hard work. I was just stating they did have a bit of an advantage. Nothing to take away any of their achievments!
  10. Let me guess, your kid goes to private school! ( Hard to figure that out!) I don't have a dog in this fight, but here goes!! Let me guess, your kid goes to private school because your nose is too turned up to step through the door of a "ratty public school." Guess your compensating for something. I don't think our government should give vouchers to anyone to attend any private school. You want a free education for your kid you have that opportunity at any public school you are zoned for. But, that's the issue we are talking about. Kids that atttend public school attend the school they are zoned for. There is no decision to be made, no choice. Now look at private school. You can live in Franklin and drive your kid to Lebanon to Friendship or you can live in Lebanon and drive your kid to DCA, Ezell or where ever. That's why it's unfair. There is no choice in public school's to attend, unless you move. Public schools do not have the funding to pay for private lessons at Club K or wherever for their entire team! (yeah it happens) Public schools have to take from the talent that is already at there school and develop it. I know of at least two players that transfered private schools this year to get more playing time. (and I'm sure there hundreds more across the state) Their dad's both had deep pockets, so they made it happen. This isn't a race issue so don't play that card! It's a money issue. Private schools have it and public schools don't. End of discussion!
  11. I think there should be a seperate division for all private schools. Especially those giving athletic scholarships to attend. (Division II) It shouldn't matter what division that they compete with either (A, AA, or AAA). All private schools should be moved to Division II and then use there own A, AA, or AAA classifaction. It is hard for some AAA schools to field enough players for a team. Why do you think private colleges participate in the NAIA and not the NCAA? Granted they are usually smaller, but private funded and government funded should always stay seperate. Private HS have a huge advantage over public HC. The state tournament bracket should show anyone that.
  12. Just wondering who has signed. List player with position, high school, and college signed with. It's great to see all of the girls signing scholarships. I know it was great when I signed mine years ago!
  13. That must be the scoring of your score keeper, because that's not what the Jackson Sun reported! On April 18 HC beat WC 6-0 with a 1 hitter. And April 26 HC won 13-2 with a two hitter. White pitched both games. But that's all beside the point now both of there seasons are over.
  14. York 10. Are you referring to the West TN Stars? If so, they looked impressive in Jackson this weekend. Came in second last night though.
  15. Are there any 18U West TN travel teams looking for players? I have a couple of West TN girls wanting to play travel ball for a West TN team.
  16. They are actually just looking out for the health of the players. Kids do not need to be playing 150 games in the matter of 3 months. It was originaly developed for baseball teams because of the injuries to pitchers. Girls just happen to follow the same rules. All the same, it's a good rule. Some parents are crazy, they would have girls playing 7 days a week 4-5 games a day.
  17. I played softball in West Tn and we never had the support from the school. They still don't. I played Divison I softball, but through no help of anyone at the school. I also don't think the TSSAA helps matters. The districts are so sporadic its hard for teams to travel that far. My neice plays in District 13-AAA and their district is Dyersburg, Jackson Northside,Hardin County, and Jackson Central Merry. Next year the district expands to Jackson Central Merry, Hardin County, Brighton, and Munford. Two of those schools are over 2 1/2 hours a way. Most district have at least 7-8 teams in a district to compete with. My niece has been taken pitching lessons from Club K for 7 years and she is a very good pitcher. My niece has no team support, but that's from lack of coaching. What do you expect when the schools hires the football coach as the softball coach! And, to whoever said there is no pitching in West TN, your wrong! Maybe you need to come watch a few games. I live in Middle TN now and except for a few pitchers, they are all about the same across the state. I can only name about five in Middle TN that make you say wow. They rest just pitch!
  18. Wayne Co lost yestersday to Hardin County 2-13 at Savannah. Junior pitcher Cassie White gave up only 2 hits. They also lost to HC and White last week 6-2 also a 2 hitter.
