They are just different types of sports. You can have an outstanding basketball player but he might not be able to play baseball and vice virsa. Remember "that famous basketball player" trying his hand at baseball? Didnt work out to well.

i dont know if this paticular kid has been to any college camps, but I have seen one college scout at many of his games and talking to his parents and this child has many t-shirts promoting a paticular college. Probally his uncle or cousin or something.

just repeating what i heard. Dont know who the kid is but he must be a 16 year old 6th grader! LOL

Congrats to the Summertown Lady Eagles on winning district 12A and good luck in the region Monday at home against Cascade @ 7.

Summertown has a few up and coming players that you need to watch out for. Their 3rd baseman in the district is only an 8th grader. He and another 8th grader were "pulled up" due to injuries. Those 2 will be watched for years to come. Not to mention the other 8th graders and 7th graders that will be "up" in a few years. I believe they have a 6th grade baseball player that is already being looked at by college scouts.

Fleetwalker, which team were you rooting for? Me, i am an Eagle fan.

The pace is definately much slower than basketball and slightly slower than football. But how about supporting your community and your friends? Do you know how many teachers came after school from the host team? Maybe 6. How is that showing support for your students? Dont get me wrong I understand that the visiting schools had to drive a long way to get to Summertown and by no means and i saying that their support meant less. What i am saying is the faculty and students @Summmertown were already there!! The field is in the middle of the parking lot for crying out loud. How much effort does it take to check out a few innings?By the way the faculty got in free. I do want to tell Coach Burleson he did an excellent job hosting this year. 2 thumbs up Greg!!

Why is it when there is a football game or basketball game the field/gym is packed, and when you are in the baseball PLAYOFFS you might get a few non related fans? The students at 12A host school were allowed to leave class (with a parent phone call) and NONE came. Why when school let out and they had to walk to their cars right (by the field with their friends playing) none even stopped to check the scores? Let me say that i was deeply disappointed in the fan support of Summertown. I dont have a child playing and I left work early to get to the games. I do believe that fan support makes a difference. Is fan support luke warm at other tourney's or is it just 12A?

Oh i forgot to mention that one of the coach's from the "red" team flipped off the "blue" teams fans. That sets a good example, huh?

sounds more like the Summertown/CA game. I was embarassed to be sitting on the Summertown side when 3 moms got into a screaming match with the other side. Luckily they turned on the music and the screaming stopped. At least they were NOT screaming at the kids. But it was a GREAT game. Nice win CA. GO SUMMERTOWN EAGLES.

i agree with fleetwalker....the Summertown/Wayne CO game was GREAT. !! I was glad to see so many fans from Wayne CO make the long drive up. Overrall it was a great opening day for !12A. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS TONIGHT
