The AP polls are a joke. Friendship boys have lost three games in the last two or three weeks (Westmoreland, Van Buren, and Gordonsville) and are still ranked in the top ten. Don't put too much stock in the AP polls.
I didn't want to pull a swanson and put up the wrong score. Gordonsville won by more than 40. I believe the final was 67-23 but like I said, I wasn't positive so I didn't post it.
Gordonsville led by as many as 15 in the fourth quarter, RBS cut the lead to eight one time after the first quarter. It wasn't as close as you thought.
Gordonsville 53 - RBS 41. Gordonsville led by 10 - 15 points for most of the game. Good defense made up for their worst shooting night since the first game.
All Gordonsville did was work their offense. If you're wide open and noone bothers to play defense on you, you should take the shot. Coach Agee only has two freshmen on the team and he started rotating them in in the first quarter. The Gordonsville girls did exactly what they were supposed to do. They worked on their offensive plays and on their defense for 32 minutes.
What do you think would have been more embarrassing to the BC girls? Having a team play hard against you or for a team to pity you and quit playing so you wouldn't look too bad?
Gordonsville goes eight deep every game. Ashley Fields is playing post and has shown more improvement than anyone on the team. Amanda Maggart is coming off the bench to play post and has done a good job. Between the two of them, Gordonsville is getting between 16 and 20 PPG and good defense and rebounding.
They didn't run up the score. Everyone played adequate minutes and only took the shots that were given. Never had the press on.
Speak only of what you know.
