  1. The boys are improving, they just don’t have that one person that can go get a basket when you need it. I don’t see see Hampton winning by any less than 20 on Friday. They might at some point give UH or NG a game, but not sure they can get past anyone other than maybe Cloudland. The girls have to get someone to step up along side Ramsey. She is amazing, but teams are literally double teaming her the length of the floor and are willing to play 3 on 4 the rest of the way and they are successful at doing it. Right now, unless a team is foolish enough to guard Ramsey straight up, the girls will struggle.
  2. Yeah, he was a senior in 07 I think. Good ball player and great shooter. Didn’t get rattled easily. Played at Lees-McRae after UH and I think he’s like 4th or 5th in 3 point baskets made all time there or maybe in a season. Not sure exactly, but he’s up there in top 5 in one of those categories at least.
  3. I’d personally say Aaron Woodacre was harder to deal with than Bradley, but I also played against Woodacre and not against Bradley.
  4. If I remember correctly, I was still a couple years away from being at the high school at the time. Bradley wasn’t super skilled , but he was big, strong and pretty athletic so around the rim he was a handful. I remember him having a monster two hand dunk at one point at Unaka I believe. I think I was in 6th grade at the time, maybe 7th and that was the first game I remember seeing someone dunk in high school.
  5. Yeah, I’ve watched the last two games and she doesn’t really have any help at all right now. CD double teamed her the length of the floor last night and played 3 on 4 with every one else. A lot of her baskets literally came 1 on 5 as she would beat their entire press down the floor.
  6. Lyndie Ramsey broke the all time scoring record at Unaka last night of 2154 points in a career. Record had been held since 1988. She came 4 points away from breaking a single game record the pervious game.
  7. It’s strange and concerning at this point..
  8. Drawing is today at 3pm and will be televised on YouTube. Tournament Passes go on sale tomorrow on their website and will be slightly discounted for the first 5 days for anyone who is interested.
  9. Congrats to Coalfield! Was a fun start, but you all wore us down and forced mistake after mistake. Will be rooting for ya the rest of the way.
  10. Think this is officially too much to overcome. The Coalfield offense wore us down with their drives.
  11. Another pick six. Coalfield read that one beautifully. We were moving it well too.
  12. Joe-Z looks like he’s out for us for the game. Not sure he ever came back in after his TD catch. That’s a tough loss for us.
  13. Punt looked like it hit the Coalfield players foot. Would have put us in position to take a shot before half, but refs missed it. Goes both ways with the missed fumble from earlier though.
  14. Coalfield 27 - 12 now. We gave up a score then turned around and threw a pick six on our first play.
  15. Coalfield deserved that goal line stand. We 110% fumbled that ball. No idea how the refs missed that call.
  16. What a catch by Joe-Z!!! We can’t slow down Coalfield’s offense though.
  17. Gotta give a shout out to our Hampton buddies too. Apparently, at one point when we had secured a bus, but no driver. Principal Young at Valley Forge Elementary , whose son plays for Hampton volunteered to drive the Unaka bus and would have missed his own sons game. Did not come to that, but certainly the offer along was beyond generous.
  18. Original booking that did not work out was through Charter Up. Premier was who helped them out and will be taking the team on short notice upon the recommendation and help from a company called River Riders.
  19. Well good news the school was able to get a refund and on short notice a different charter company said they could take the team.
  20. It’s awful everywhere. Getting hit hard in education and I work with grant funded programs, which means tax dollars are going to waste, but we can’t open classrooms with people who are unfit to care for and educate kids. Went from serving nearly 300 children and families in 5 different counties a few years ago to only being able to serve about 72 in those same 5 counties due to lack of staffing.
  21. Don’t think this affects the game in anyway, but Unaka fund raised to send the boys down on a charter bus tonight and the company called this morning and said they don’t have a driver for them now. Again, not game effective but do hate it for them, had to take the bus the cheerleaders are using for tonight and they will have to scramble to find a bus for the cheerleading team.
  22. Appreciate the heads up! Would like to be there but scheduling isn’t looking great right now. Still gonna try never been out there and would like to make the trip.
  23. I won’t take away from Unaka’s kids. I think we absolutely presented match up problems for their defense. Joe-Z was going to be hard to cover, he blew past their secondary the first couple of scores. Ramsey was going to be a load to deal with no matter what and we honestly underutilized Jamol. Don’t think GB got to really see his typical performance. Skill level though, the teams were close. When you add in the factor of coaching and preparation to that skill level though, Unaka was the better team.
  24. Unaka should of won by more. If you take away all the stupid penalties we committed there may have been a running clock. With that said, Greenback players skill wasn’t the big difference. The game plan was terrible and their coaches refused to stick with anything they had success with. They continued to play into Unaka’s strengths the entire game.
