If you are looking for a reasonable answer, how about at least a good shot at one. Lipscomb played BGA in the 2001 and 2002 seasons as well as back in the early 80's through early 90's nearly every season. Lipscomb and BA were in the same District (Region) for many years prior to the 1993 re-classifications by the TSSAA. They played every year from 1983 to 1992 until the changes. Those changes were brought about due to some student athletes being given financial aid to attend a school and other schools not offering the same as everyone is aware about. Enough said about that as there is already a Public-Private place on CoachT to discuss such things.
I would just say that there is always going to be a debate on who should be playing who. No system is without a flaw at this point.
Congratulations to the Mustangs on a superb game this evening. Special recognition goes out to junior RB Matt Elrod on his 188 rushing yards and 4 TDs. Senior Blake Neelley added 83 more yards on the ground. QB Clay Smith is coming into his own as well after his first two varsity starts. The defense was led by Mitchell Tenpenny, Braden Binkley, and Dale Binkley. Also a great gameplan by the Mustang coaching staff on the turn around from Week One. When the ball is placed on the tee and the game begins, you must give credit where credit is due.
Page has a very good team. That was evident. The Mustang defense stopped McMurray all night until his last run for 55 yards and a TD. He only had 29 prior to that one. The Patriots are strong up front and will do very well this season. This could turn into a great series over the next five years in Region 5-3A.
One final PAT ON THE BACK to the Purple Shoe Gang. The Reese Smith Athletic Complex looked fantastic tonight and the field, despite this week's weather, was in terrific shape. Great job guys!
