  1. WC is pretty good. Smyrna will have to play a good game. My guess is it will be decided in the 4th quarter.
  2. HAHAHA! You amaze me with your knowledge. You expect us to believe what you say when you are so vague. Incriminating evidence? All I see is a rumor you're typing. Plus, it wouldn't be very hard to know if a team was in pads or not, even if they are indoors. School administration would know, player's parents would know, and countless others. So why wouldn't one of those people try turning HHS in if they knew? Instead, we have to listen to you just now bring this up 2 weeks into the season, which almost solidifies in my mind that you are just making up some sort of conspiracy. Looks like we got one of those Bama lawyers on our hands!
  3. You know they say that half the stuff you read on the internet is false. Reading this just makes me laugh. I also am interested to hear who your so called "source" is and i'm wondering why this person would tell you. I agree with baron, someone is trying to stir things up that aren't true.
  4. Should be an interesting game. Region 5-5a will get its first look to see what Hillwood will bring to the table. I don't know enough about Hillwood to cast a vote.
  5. Let's try to stay on topic, shall we? HHS just needs to improve all the way around seeing as they are 0-2. By looking at the scores of their two games, it seems to me there offense needs some work. Who do they play this week? I looked it up, they play McGavock, the defending region champs.
  6. HHS struggled mightily against WC. WC looked very good for the most part. The HHS offense never got going. HHS has been a slow starter the last few years, but they have Beech next, so they should be able to pick it up a notch for that rivalry game.
  7. For some reason I think the Commandos will recover from last year's no playoff appearance and get things back on track. It's just that kind of program. A win here to start the season would be a huge boost for them. But it won't be an easy win.
  8. Wing-T vs. Wing-T. Each runs it a little differently, but mostly the same. I smell a hardnose, grind it out victory for either team. Should be a good one. And if you haven't seen today's Tennessean sports page, there is a good article about the 2 head coaches in this game, Hatfield and Alexander.
  9. I think so. Was anyone there that would like to give out some info on the scrimmage?
  10. odd post. is it a sin to praise a coach without knowing him? No need to write a long post like that just to get onto someone for praising a coach.
  11. I believe HHS scrimmages tullahoma this friday at home and then white house the next friday at white house. I heard that the commandos RB from last year has to go to station camp because he is zoned for station camp and couldn't get his out of zone form to go thru.
  12. Anyone have any details about Wilson Central and how they match up against HHS?
  13. Riverdale "mercy killed" everyone last year cause they were just that good. About the WC-HHS game, it should be a very competitive week 0 game. Both run the wing-t and they are physical football teams. This will be a big game for both teams as they try to start the season out on a positive note. And let's not forget that Wilson Central's head coach Alexander is an HHS alum I'm pretty sure. I know he used to coach at HHS. That stirs the pot a little for this game.
  14. Sawyer is definately the big threat for HHS. With him running, they have a chance in any game. I think HHS will have many seniors starting all over the field. As far a qb, I'm guessing it's a toss up among 2 or 3 guys, possibly a sophomore.

  16. any additional info on these new coaches?
  17. bold thread to start since everyone knows riverdale would destroy alcoa.
  18. I'd have to put Edward Sawyer from Hendersonville as one of the best. He had about 1,500 yds and averaged about 10 or 11 yards per carry last year to go with over 15 TD's in only 10 games. Those are impressive stats for a RB in the wing-t offense where the ball is spread out to many RB's. I'd put him up there with Miller, Brown, and some of the others yall listed. I don't know much about rb's in the west and east, but Miller, Brown, and Sawyer are all near the top of the list.
  19. Nice post GWave. You summed up the region in a nutshell. Can't wait til the season starts.
  20. I wouldn't say everyone here is stuck on Hendersonville and Gallatin. It's just that people (almost everyone except you) realize that they always have quality programs and are always in contention to win the region. We aren't overlooking any metro teams, it's just that we know our facts. Most people predict HHS and GHS in the playoffs b/c they know those 2 teams are always near the top.
  21. Did Overton lose alot of players from graduation and how will they match up now that they are in 5A?
  22. HLHS, I know metro schools have plenty of talent in the likes of Preston Brown, Crutcher, and so on, but let's not forget the talent that hendersonville and gallatin have as well. HHS has Sawyer at Rb, and he is one of the best in the midstate. GHS Rb is very good as well (name?). Both of these teams also have plenty of experience coming back this year. So for you to say that the metro teams will walk over hhs and ghs and that one of them won't even be in the playoffs is ridiculous. kinda funny actually. we know what happened in last year's games, so there's no point in bringing up last year's results because we all know how much things change each year. Just don't undermind the talent of HHS and GHS and say that metro is far superior because it's not true. I'd say the talent is equal. p.s.- It also helps to use periods and capitalization when you type. When I read your posts, It gives me a headache.
  23. Region 5-5A may not be the toughest in the state, but it definately is one of the most highly contested. None of these teams records has been pretty the last few years, but it always comes down to the last week of the season, which makes this region tough to predict and exciting. I do think that Hendersonville and Gallatin will make the playoffs, along with probably Antioch. The last spot is pretty much a toss up.
  24. That is a good accomplishment! The only problem in now he gets to get banged around by the likes of UT and such.
