  1. That will be a huge hole to fill. I would say Kilgore was on everyone's list to repeat as region champ.
  2. I was told from a very reliable source that the Fandetti Brawl will be held at the Freedom Hall Civic Center this year with up to five mats going. The change of venue will help to accommodate the expanding number of participants for this years tournament. The tournament will be held on 1/17/09.
  3. Those numbers are all impressive. I'm surprised that King has had nearly 200 matches already. I knew GHS has had some great wrestlers but didn't know that they were getting that kinda mat time. Going deep into tournaments helps I'm sure. Makes sense when you think about it. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  4. Along with great coaching these high numbers are definitely a result of more matches and eighth graders being eligible the past few years at SH. I'm not saying that this is a list of the greatest wrestlers of all time at SH but It is a strong list of wrestlers with a total of eight state medals including four gold. I don't know the win percentages but do know those numbers include 62-1, 57-1, 56-1, and 51-3 seasons. I would also like to know some of the numbers wrestlers have put up at other schools.
  5. Here's a list of the top six in career wins at SH since Jeff Price became head coach. 1 Ty Cody 212 2 Bo Usary 205 3 Jon Edmonds 197 4 Brett Usary 167 (by my count) 5 Alan Aiken 163 6 Josh Bosken 160 That's a lot of matches and a lot of great coaching. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. An assistant coach from SH told me about a conversation he had with Crosby shortly after winning a state championship, (not sure if it was his first or second). After a couple of minutes of congratulations and small talk, Daniel said " I've gotta get out of here, I have to get home and get to work in the tobacco fields". That seemed to sum up the work ethic that was instilled in him.
  7. KingGreene, you shouldn't say things like I was mad at you. The people that read these posts may think you are serious. Besides, my Doctor said if I continue to improve I can go home soon. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> Noonesfool, the four time region champ from SH you are thinking of is Jon Edmonds. One more tidbit of region 1 wrestling knowledge I can throw out there is that, from what I've been told, the all time leader in wins at SH is Ty Cody with 212. If my figures are correct, Brett would need 46 wins this season to pass him. Bo Usary is second all time with 205 wins. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. He's looking into his options but still undecided. I would try cutting out some earholes for the masks. If you can"t work out the kinks with the masks you should at least make Porkchop dress up like Gorgeous George for all tournament finals he's in. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. Anyone know the date for the preseason tournament at Crockett?
  10. Where are you at TD? Do you have a CoachT gag order on your wrestlers this year? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Give us something.
  11. I would add Herold from MW (2nd @ 135 LY) as a contender somewhere in the 135-145 weight classes. I would also guess Stull from SH will be at 145. The only other thing I would second guess you on would be picking Snyder third at 125 after winning region at that weight class last year. With that said, I think you have some solid picks. Again I say, It should be a great year for R1 wrestling. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. I would add Matt King to the list of possible state champs. I know he spent a month at J Robinson's camp in MN. this summer. Meyers from G'ville and Goldstein from SH have a good shot at medals this year too. The region should improve on it's medal count from last year. Who else has a shot? I know I'm leaving out a few that have a chance. Also, I'm pretty sure Usary only has one U in the spelling.
  13. I think this will be a great season for R1. Lots of great matchups this year with many of last seasons region placers returning. Any thoughts or predictions? Post 'em here. Good luck to all this season. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  14. Not sure about Jeff Co. but Greeneville is got a solid team with at least a couple of state placers this year.
  15. If anyone has any results, please post. Thanks.
  16. The true reward for a job well done is having done the job.
  17. How about Snyder winning the 125lb championship as a seven seed. I think it's the first time in Region one history that two 8th graders have won championships in the same year with Goldstien winning the 103lb championship. In all, The Hill will be sending 7 to Chattanooga. Way to go guys.
  18. If you need directions to any TN high school in the future you can go to the CoachT homepage, click on study hall, then click on the school you are looking for and there you will find a link for driving directions to that school.
  19. Based on last years placers, Bradley 2nd, Ooltewah 3rd, and Clarksville 4th, then they should be the only teams seeded. I was told(now this has gotten me in trouble before) the rest of the bracket is a blind draw.
  20. If cost is not an issue, I say stay downtown. There are lots of things to do and see and it's only five min. from Mckenzie Arena.
  21. I don't want to speculate as to why. Someone from Maryville will have to answer that question.
