  1. You have to admire a coach that stands by their rules in a situation like this. What does this loss do to the district standings? If I am correct that puts Northeast and Dickson back in a tie for first. Would Dicksons 2 losses to NE give 1st to NE automatically?
  2. justhoopin, I don't understand the defensive tone to your reply to a simple question asked by fiftyz. No one on this thread has said anything against Northeast or Ms. Williams. They are a talented team who have won a lot of games. fiftyz asked a question all 10AAA girls basketball fans were wondering. I am glad she is back on the court as eveidenced by her scoring in their last game. Oh and by the way "The Sr. Ms. Hamilton" as you called her had 14 points against Northeast. Guess you should verify your info before posting.
  3. score does not reflect how close a game it was. 6:35 left in game, DC holds bears to a field goal. 32 to 29. DC takes kickoff with plenty of time to run the ball down the field to get fg or td. But wait a minute coaches decide to take Shane Rayburn out of game and go to a spread offense and of all things pass the ball. Running game was great all night, and they decide to pass.Sorry but I did not understand that move at all. From this point it got crazy. Completed a pass but was fumbled. Bears got the ball and scored. Next possession third and eight with Rayburn on sidelines interception TD 46 to 29. DC played there hearts out and it was their game to win, but IMO the coaches out thought themselves in this game and they are the reason DC lost this game. Not taking anything from Antioch they are loaded with athletes, but I thought DC should have won. Antioch QB and WR no. 4 were unbelievable. Those two made some of the best plays I have ever seen on a football field. No. 4 has great hands, he caught everythihg thrown to him,and the QB put the ball where he could catch the ball. VERY IMPRESSIVE.
  4. Great game DC! Heard on the radio that Scales wasn't in at quarterback for Centennial after halftime for a while. Does anyone know why?
  5. "What's it going to be like when your kid plays that last game as a senior? My heart goes out to ya." I can tell you it is VERY tough, especially if your child is not going to play in college and is also your youngest. We started this year with our eyes on the "Gold Ball" and had that dream taken away in a region semi-final game. I wasn't able to watch the Lady Vols this past weekend because it was just to painful! I am not only going to miss seeing my daughter in blue and orange, but I will miss the wondedrful friends. I know that I will continue to support our team in the future, but it will never be the same. I guess it is a good thing we "b-ballaholics" have Coacht because the rest of the "normal" world would never understand. LOL
  6. I am curious about something. Is it just me or are refs calling more walks for head fakes this year? I have seen several games recently where the refs have called players for walks, when the players feet never move just their heads. I am beginning to believe refs think all players heads and feet are connected. I am not saying that there are not some cases where a player actually commits a walk, but the majority of the time they do not. To all the refs who read this, PLEASE do not assume anything, if you don't see their feet move, do not call the walk!!!! What does everyone else think?
  7. JC62, could the problem possibly be that you might have a daughter on Fairview's team who isn't getting the playing time you THINK she should? If that is the reason for this, then you need to do some serious thinking about your attitude and how it could possibly effect the team. Kristen and Kelly have both worked year round for several years and I personally think it shows. No, they may not always play their "best", but they are both hard working, dedicated players who are excellant leaders for their team. I have seen them both doing everything in their power to "pump up" their teammates. Fairview may not be winning as many games as you would like for them to, but coming on coacht and verbally attacking players is not the answer. They are just two players on the team and they can neither take the blame for all losses or credit for all wins. For the record I am not from Fairview either. I am just a basketball fan that wants to see parents, players and coaches learn to work together to help their teams achieve all they possibly can.
  8. I agree that we have to look at the impact playing "year round" could be having. The majority of high school players are playing year round, but you would think that would keep their bodies in better shape than those players who take "off" during the off season. Maybe we are to the point of having to much of a good thing. I agree that stretching is extremely important and can't imagine a coach at any level that would not insist on their players doing stretches before every practice or game. I wonder if the probelm is that these types of excercises haven't kept up with the game itself. Are we still using the techniques from the old days of three on three or have we just been using the same type of excercises the boys programs use thinking that they will work for the girls. The thing we may all need to consider is....THESE ARE GIRLS, just because they can play full court doesn't mean they can play it the same way the guys do. I would be interested to see how much the injury rate has increased since the change to full court and in the years since the girls have begun playing "more like the guys". The main question still remains the same....WHY? and WHAT CAN WE DO to change this?
  9. It is heartbreaking to read of all the injuries occuring! Why is this happening? We have all heard "girls knees are 'built' different from guys", but is this what is causing so many qualilty players to be injured? What, if anything, can coaches and parents do to prevent this? Is it just me, or do we not hear about these types of injuries with guys? The ones we are hearing about are to "starting" players who we all know are getting more floor time during games and practice, and should be in the best shape on their teams. Any ideas or opinions?
  10. The schedules are finally available for the 16U Nationals in Orlando. Can anyone provide any info on the teams our Tennesse girls will be facing? Flight is in Pool A and will face Florida Fire, Livingston Sting, Waverunners and Connecticutt Starters. DC X-treme is in Pool B and will face-Oklahoma stars, Connecticutt Rush, Dayton Lady Hoopsters, Midland Fast Break and South Carolina Lady 76ers. TN Team Pride is in Pool C and will face-Boo Williams, Kimbrough Ballers, Texas Express, Team Excel and Utah Lady Crushers. I'm sorry I dont have the pools for Pilot Comets, Tennesse Elite or Tennessee Wings. ptguard12, you've done great so far what can you do on thie one?
