  1. I think Jeff Morris from Milan deserves at least an honorable mention. Two gold balls. Four silver balls. Multiple district titles. Playoff appearances every year at Milan except one.
  2. upate community stats

  3. Congrats to the Bulldogs on a great season. Bulldog fans be sure to purchase your tickets for the championship game at the Milan High School. One-half of the purchase price of all pre-sold tickets goes to MHS. The school gets a much smaller cut for tickets bought at the gate.
  4. Just consulted with a friend of mine who is also a veteran official and now calls mostly college games. He says that the officials have no authority to allow or disallow any type of noise makers used by fans in the stands during high school games. They do have authority to instruct the band not to play while play is in progress on the field because they are affiliated with the school. However, they may play in between plays.
  5. Let me preface what I am about to say by first stating that I know that most Peabody fans are just like most Milan fans. They love their kids, their community, and their teams and support them in a positive manner - win or lose. This is not for you. This is for a pathetic few. Every year the Milan Booster club works hard to make and put out yard signs for the playoff games. At last count these signs stretch for over a mile and are placed so that he opposing team will see them when they enter Milan. Last year, after Milan defeated Peabody in the playoffs, some Peabody fans were caught trying to vandalize some of these signs on their way out of town. This year, after Peabody's victory, well over a dozen of these signs were stolen and dozens of others were damaged or destroyed. Contrast this with the fact that the Peabody signs placed on the Milan-Trenton Hwy were still there this afternoon and the signs the Peabody fans planted at Johnnie Hale stadium were still there this morning when the clean up crew came to clean up the stadium. Vandalism and theft does not speak well of your team, your school system, or your community. If you can't lose with dignity, then could you at least win with a little class? We have been doing the sign thing for years and, so far, Peabody fans are the only one's to conduct themselves in this manner. What an embarrassment you are to Gibson County and all of the proud programs that reside in this area. Instead of promoting your team in a positive way, you have placed a black eye on an otherwise great win. How can the rest of West TN support you further in the playoffs when you conduct yourself in this manner? Rest assured that future Milan teams will be reminded of your actions. If you really want to help support your team, then at least restrain your more criminal urges and act like you've been there before. IO know you thought your actions were cute, but all you've managed to do is to make Peabody folks look like a bunch of thugs and losers. I used to pull for Peabody anytime they weren't playing Milan. I don't believe I will be doing that again for a while. Go Goodpasture.
  6. I've been reading these message boards for a couple of years and I have never seen anything posted by anyone that I recognize as an active Milan player. Every post I have ever seen has been by either a former player, or a fan.
  7. Milan picked up BT Washington for the 3rd non-region game.
  8. The kid was from Medina and Clay Anderson broke his collar bone.
  9. Anderson did not play the whole game. He has had a hamstring problem since just before the first game and the coaches chose not to play him against Manassas in hopes that he will be ready for Humboldt.
  10. The assitants at Milan. Coaches Jackson, Holden, Acuff, & Greene. They are good coaches and good men. Any of them could be a head coach.
  11. Marty was a couple of years ahead of me in school, but I played on the same junior high team (Homestead) and, briefly, on the same high school team (CCHS) as he did. I remember him as agood guy and a good football player. I wish him all of the luck in the world.
  12. You've got that right. How many times in the past few years has the State Championship game been played in the quater or semi-finals?

  14. Gotcha'. I guess I can see the logic when you explain it like that, but it still doesn't give the kid any time to do any extra work to prepare for football like the other sports do. However, I have to agree that it is probably a step in the right direction.
