  1. Still hate to see Johnson leave FHS! Regarding Nowell - I thought you said he was going with Johnson.... I know BDD likes Nowell, but let me assure you there are others in the community that will likely say good riddance! I never dealt with him, but man have I heard some stories!
  2. Hmm, let's see if we can stuff several of the really good mid state teams into one region, let them kill each other at their regional tournament to qualify for state... It's too bad that all regions aren't as tough as the old region 5 or the new region 6. These guys that qualify to move on to state can at least say they earned it!

  4. Tenative brackets have been posted - Fresh & Soph Tourney
  5. As far as Moms go - I would have to nominate Betty Warfield of Franklin. I can't tell you how many times someone needed this or that and she seemed to always have it. I swear she had everything, including the kitchen sink, in the car. I'll never forget an announcement being made at a national tournament where they were needing a sewing kit (kid from another state had split the crotch out of his singlet) - yep, she had her sewing stuff in the car and stitched that kid's singlet up and he went on to be an all american later that same year. It didn't matter if you were her kid or not, she would take care of them all!
  6. Okay Jose - What is the common denominator for Region V & VIII? Why are these regions leading the points?
  7. Congrats to Kenny - Region 5 is so proud of you! Keep it up on your way to becoming a BRONCO for University of Central Oklahoma!
  8. Amen! Courtney is a great athlete and has a wonderful family.
  9. Congrats to the Bears - You did a good job! But I think we all have to admit that the Rebels made sure it was not a 'walk in the park' to get there. Congrats to the Rebels for a job well done - you guys have worked hard and I'm proud of ALL of you!
  10. I guess I'm confused - My kid has wrestled FCI, AAU & USAW, but I don't have issue with a split if it is done appropriately. Why do you believe that everyone that is associated with one of these organizations does not support splitting. It is difficult for up and coming programs to compete with the established programs that have been around forever. I just think that if it is done it should be based on the student body enrollment. The current private/public split is for the birds!
  11. Let me put it this way - I decided to buy a house and my son was a middle school wrestler, so we looked at properties where there were established high school wrestling programs so that my son could continue to wrestle. It's not like I moved to clear across the state or anything. I would not have issue with a split if it was based on student body enrollment - that is the only thing that makes sense to me.
  12. As I sit hear trying to decide if I should laugh or what - so just how would you recommend splitting Div I. Would it be based on enrollment, size of wrestling program, region of the state (oops that would make us go back to pre TSSAA) or what? I personally think the whole public/private split on wrestling should be done away with. There are people in this state that move around the barriers so their kids can compete on specific teams regardless if the school is public or private! I should know - I was one of them!
  13. So on the money that TSSAA clears on the region & state events - how does it go back to the athletes?
  14. What is really sad is Carter is an ex-wrestling coach - you would think wrestling would get a little more respect than this!
  15. fiscon - great idea on web based! I'll do whatever I can to help you out!
  16. TWF use to put out the Tennessee Rumbler for a long time, but due to the lack of reporting and the cost of production it was cut a year or so back. I know my son use to enjoy getting it and reading about what was going on. The key to putting out such a newsletter or magazine is to get the wrestling community to participate in submitting newsworthy information - results, events, etc.
  17. Coach G - You've got 5 returning seniors & I know that you know that there is spring & summer tournaments going on in TN. Bring these guys to the mat and let them prepare for an awesome Senior Year with YOU as their head coach! Hamm & Sommers - Help me out here!
  18. Williamson County Sports Pictures by John Cross
  19. Coach G - Are you taking another coaching position in the area? You can't leave us! I know it is very hard to build a program, but they are not built overnight. Some years are very lean and tough, but better ones will come. Hang in there, it will get better.
  20. You could see my red hair starting to stand on end? Nothing like a hot headed red head on this message board! I have to say that I saw some amazing wrestling from all corners of region V this weekend. The guys fighting into the 3rd & 4th place bouts were some of the best matches I saw. They were putting it all on the line - some real heart breakers. Then we had some of the 1st & 2nd place bouts that are sure to be repeated this coming Saturday. Good luck to all Region V Coaches & Wrestlers!
  21. OffSpringer - You need to BACK OFF! All the Franklin guys worked hard and all were doing their best to make the trip to Chattanooga this week. Let me assure you the coaching staff @ Franklin are not ostersizing them for their outcome on Saturday!
  22. Region 5 had local press writers from the Williamson & Rutherford Co papers.
  23. Saw that there was another thread about this and thought I should bump this up so folks can start submitting their entries. Once we know who is coming then the predictions should start. It should be a great event and there could be a lot of 'sleepers' as well.
  24. I agree about the Ravenwood kid - he is good and on any given day someone wins and someone will lose. I'm not sure what the record is between Ravenwood & Franklin, but regardless both of these young men will determine on the mat who will go up against Blackman.
  25. These guys will be meeting in the finals!
