  6. Congratulations to a wonderful group of folks that have helped develop wrestling here in Tennessee!
  7. So glad to see Pat and the Tullahoma crew still putting on this great event! Summer wrestlers do make winter champions!
  8. Great story about an amazing wrestling family - so glad I can call them my neighbor as well!
  9. Franklin & Williamson County have been blessed by having the Bennett's in their wrestling community - they are a great family and have given so much of themselves to the sport of wrestling to all levels of wrestling in Williamson County.
  10. Hey Trick - this is great news - keep up the good work!
  11. Gosh I love you Lou - only you could be this creative... You know if we talk sweetly to the Extension Office, I bet they've got a Horse Club that would be more than happy to give us calf ropers to catch those injuries... How about some bull doggers for the referees and the coaches! Heck, I'd bet Tractor Supply and the Co-oP would give us cattle prods for those table workers to get the bout sheets turned in timely... Of course Tractor Supply and Co-oP would want us to hang their banners - so they may have to donate directly to TSSAA...
  12. Yahoo - It's going back to the AgCenter - For all those calling it the CowPalace, you should see the Arena where the NFR was held in OKC for many years until it moved to Vegas - now that was a COW PALACE! However we could wear our $#!t kickers next year if it makes you feel better. Congrats to Joe Blair and the Williamson County programs that made it all happen. You came together and got it down like the champions you are. Let's get ready for 2011!
  13. Pummel - how I have missed you - reading this thread has cracked me up! Gosh I've missed you - wish you were here - are you going to come to the mid-state for the finals?
  14. As we prepare for state this next week - it's time to "bump" one of our classics! Yes, I'm still getting the "warning" before matches begin when I show up for matches! Good luck to all state qualifiers - this may help you determine if you are a good wrestler! By the way - I actually had a wrestler look at me straight faced at a tournament on Saturday and tell me that I intimidated him - he was like a 189 or 215 size guy and I'm an OLD woman!
  15. bump - for those guys that didn't make it to state - this is a great camp that will help you prepare for off season wrestling as well as the next season - thank you to both Franklin & Brentwood for hosting this event!
  16. All the more reason to get those hooves worked on - you know the old gray mule has to get hooves trimmed and rasped so it can continue to plow through this mid state area of "you know what" to get to the truth! Suprised your wife lets you in the bed at night with those nasty things!
  17. Oh great - I've got bad hair (at least I have hair LBHIII), my parents are now divorced and I would love to eject a few folks from tournaments! Yippee I'm qualified!
  18. Hey LBHIII - would love to get a pedicure with you sometime and watch that match on video, but don't need the play by play from any parents of either wrestler - let the match speak for itself! On any given day someone wins and someone looses - regardless if you are seeded, ranked or an unknown. Take it to the mat, leave no doubt and then leave it there!
  19. Again, my hat is off to NCW! It shouldn't matter who the club affiliation is with - FCI vs AAU vs USAW - let's get the kids on the mats! I am disappointed that SEAAU pulled the sanction out from under NCW. That does concern & surprise me - I've never seen an organization actually pull the sanction on an approved event. Was it SEAAU or the national office that pulled it? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> NCW has a good crew to host such an event and they will do their very best to have the best officials, workers, hospitality and concessions. Good luck to all the athletes, coaches and parents who take advantage of this opprotunity! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. Oh my gosh - do things never change on some issues in TN - aau vs usa Come on ya'll - I remember when it was all we could do to get kids to wrestle in the "off season" at one tournament in the state. Let the studs go to state and let the kids still learning go to Father Ryan. It's time for TN to put on some "big boy" britches and stop wearing the short pants. The only way that is going to happen is to have multiple tournaments at various levels of experience going on across the state. NCW - Thank you for giving the kids the opportunity to get on the mats! Do what ever it takes regardless of the organization (FCI, USA or AAU) and let's grow wrestling in TN!
  21. It's all about the money! Think about the Fresh/Soph Tournament that has been held the weekend after state for the last 3 years. TSSAA did not get a cut of the money, so enforce a dead period and eliminate that opportunity. Let's just make the dead periods longer and sporadic across the year - we don't need kids wrestling any other time than the TSSAA season. Let's eliminate all those other HS tournaments that are held outside of the TSSAA season. Who needs AAU or USA wrestling programs? We don't have kids that go out of state to compete, do we? Why would any kid want to wrestle any other season than TSSAA? Surely none of our wrestlers have apsirations of the olympic gold! Someone is living on an island and needs to visit Oklahoma, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio or Minnesota during wrestling season! Go ahead take a few TN boys - there are a very few select ones that could take the heat, but the majority would have to step out of the kitchen. I'm not convinced that Ronnie is the only problem here. I don't know who is on the board of control, but they obviously have no clue about wrestling. Okay, now I'm being told to shut up that I don't have a dog in the fight anymore.... going back into retirement.... ohhhhh, it just makes me so mad.....
  22. This is just a great thread - I'm loving it! Actually chatted and shared a few laughs with other Mom's about this thread. Here is a few more... You've wrestled, graduated and now in college, but when your Mom goes to the matches now, the officials still give her the 'here's your first warning' before the match even begins. Your Mom has driven through forest fires, bands of tornados, ice/snow storms or blinding fog over the mountains to get you to or from a national tournament. So many memories, so much fun!
  23. The Tennessee National Team (TNT) is the USAW affiliated team for TN. I beleive this thread was originally discussing the AAU national team. You are correct that questions regarding TNT should be directed to Jose Delgado or the appropriate director. In the last couple of years there have been TNTs created for USAW Divisions - Juniors, Cadets and School Boys.
  24. "I think in every sport,.......you have to play the best to be the best! Some kids are not ready to face the best. I know that some schools shield/protect their kids by going to weaker tournaments. I think that Cent. schedule prevents Coffee from becoming the best he can be!" -- HSDAD This is very true, but you also have to realize that the CHS schedule was set before they even had a clue that Coffee was coming there.
