  1. Old wise one, please give us your prediction for Central this year since we didn't see the REAL Bobcats.
  2. Team had a much better performance against Central, but lets face the facts....Central is young and down compared to past years. My concerns are: Offense - off. line opened some holes but...30%+ of the time, they had huge breakdowns in assignments and let defenders came thru untouched. Pass protection was terrible. Potential is there if mental mistakes can be eliminated. Although Gatlin didn't have much protection, he had his worst outing of the year. His problem is that he doesn't carry out his fakes when he hands off...so when there is playaction, eveyone knows he has the ball when he rolls out. Most of the roll outs were of bootleg nature. He starts looking for a receiver and running half speed as soon as he completes his fake. as opposed to getting out on the corner quicker.....because of this, he is always under pressure and yesterday made 3 terrible throws. Not what a Sr and 2 yr starter should be doing. The little things like carrying out his fakes on runs will go a long way in positioning himself better but he must know that sometimes...just throw it away. I look for Spencer to improve in the next 2 weeks... this team needs for him to step up........need more slants, outs and curls......during warmups, we spent the majority of time throwing the fade routes and were half assed about doing that. Passing timing takes lots of work and I wonder how committed we are to it? Only 1 throw to Sherrod....guess what....a fade. No throws to Stepp. This offense needs to be able to throw the ball more consistently to be effective. I would encourage some voluntary precise routes/throws before and after practice. On defense, I'm concerned about tackling although it has improved. We need 1 more CB to step up. I would move McFall to the right side. Stithe has alot of potential, but he has to get more aggressive and appears to be tentative on coverages. I wonder if the new kid from Texas can play CB? I think the coaches have done a better job of preparing this team....keep it up.
  3. Scrimage was a multiple 10 play session that was controlled by down and distance situations.....this affected the normal flow and thus the abilility to determine a winner. West scored 2 or 3 TD's, Jeff scored one on a 25 yrd pass from Spencer to Sherrod. My opinion is that the defense looked better. Stronger and faster....but alot of missed tackles. West complete numerous passes up the middle to their TE and on slants. Safety's and LB's are going to have to pop the receivers when they cross the middle. Defensive line looked better. The defensive energy was high at the beginning but seemed to dwindle as play went on. I'm no sure if West is a good test. The offense was inconsistent. Like most of last year, there was no room to run up the middle and when we did, FB Brooks fumbled twice. West put 7 and 8 guys in the box which made it tough to run. Stepp is getting better but he needs to make adjustments on the ball once its in the air. At 6'4" and fast, he needs to become more aggressive on the ball. Sherrod made a great catch for the TD but bruised his knee and was out for the rest. Stepp will be a huge help by simply not allowing teams to focus on Sherrod. I would love to see Sherrod run some curls , screens and outs to simply get the ball in his hands. I will say the same thing I said last year. This offense will not be a power offense. Coach U will have to mix alot of things up to be succesful. Ball control passing, more options, misdirections. Spencer throws a great fade but he needs to realize you can't make that same throw up the middle. He has a good enough arm to make most of the throws but he needs to work on getting his feet set quicker. Still early in the season and plenty of time to correct the issues mentioned. I like their potential. Based on tonight, I'm predicting 6-4 and we'll need some breaks to get that.
  4. Carter had more passing yards and more points but their offense is geared for the passing game. Sherrod was out on vacation, so we missed him. Tyler Stepp debut at wide out. He has the size and speed but needs to mature mentally in order to play at this level . There is no doubt he will, it just might not be this year....He will certainly benefit by Sherrod being on the opposite side. He didn't make adjustments on the ball and allowed some interceptions to occur that shouldn't have. He has a bright future. Spencer looked good at times but did make some bad throws. He appeared to lock on to a pre-determined receiver and throw regardless if he was open or not. Zac looked very comfortable and appeared in more control of the offense as opposed to last year. Both will play. I think that TE's looked much improved. Adam Ricard and Whitehead both displayed good hands. It appears that we will use McFall more in the slot position and get him involved in the passing game. He had 1 TD reception on a quick hitter up the middle. Most of the time, we had 4 sophmores in the secondary. Sherrod was out, Zac Long has a hip injury and stayed out . McFall is playing 1 corner. Hard to know who will start. We need a hardnosed strong safety that will be a good tackler. .......soph Will Brooks looks like a good FB player...Yeary appears ready to go......coaches are optomistic about the offensive line.....Whitehead has gotten bigger but maybe a little slower, hopefully not. Overall, it was a good first outing.
  5. I have heard that there is a freshman named McFall that might be given a look at catcher. I have heard that he is faster, stronger, hits better and has a quicker release to 2nd. Can a freshman step in our conference and be successful?
  6. Why don't you get with Hilary Clinton and see if its the same right wing conspiracy
  7. First thing...the game is at Jeff...look 2 posts up and you would know that. 2nd thing....we don't pick the refs, so no merit there. 3rd thing....why do you OR people keep coming on here with your comments? we played that game last week.....based on the scores listed above, it doesn't appear your "get Killed" comment has any merit either. Close game, turnovers will be the difference....JC 21 Karns 14 JC must be effective throwing the ball in order for this to happen.
  8. Can anyone from Karns list their games and scores?
  9. Unlike you, I don't have all of the answers....thats why I ask questions. Did you turn your ID over to someone else, i don't remember you being so negative. The main issue between you and I is that we don't agree on the coach as being the problem. You might be right but i don't think so. I will admit that if the exodus continues, we have a problem......will you admit that if it doesn't, we don't have a problem? Has Dejuan ever played a down for JCHS...for the third time.
  10. Based on what you say, its not a gamble but a sure thing. No guts, no glory
  11. you seem to have all of the answers has Dejuan ever played a down for JCHS? Don't get defensive...just anwser the question.
  12. Did Chad Williams get any playing time last year? If someone thinks that Heath was starting at WR and has the best hands, you have to question their knowledge of the team. He's great kid but he knew and thats why he quit. I will bet $100 with anyone out there right now, that we don't lose more than a couple of players between this year and next. IF there's a problem with the coach, the exodus will continue. Take the bet, we'll set up a private personal meeting and we will set the exact terms face to face. I'll put my money where my mouth is and will wait and see if I'm right or wrong. I'm not a rich man, so I can only take the first and second takers. Take the bet or shut up!!!
  13. Has Dejuan ever played a single down for JCHS. I heard he played for AE last year...is that true? I also heard he came back and wanted to play and the coach and team said no....
  14. I guess I took the bait didn't I and gave you another opportunity to.....no, your right, you didn't get this started did you.
  15. Go back and look at the thread.....take credit for getting this BS started again....your good at it....something your not good at is accessing talent. For the sake of the kids you mentioned, I'll leave it at that. Where were you when Patsandman laid it out? I know you were there....you always are. Have you ever thought that maybe the problem was the last 2 coaches and the ground work they laid....something to think about.
  16. Its easy to get frustrated when things aren't going well. We tried 1 onside kick this year against a team that we knew we were overmatched with. The timing was good for the fake punt against DB but we just didn't execute it correctly. It was not a game breaker and you know it. In regards to the match up of players and why we don't....all I say is that 2 weeks ago, we had a post from PatSandman and he actually listed the players that had quit and stated what differences they would make ....... You were involved in the thread along with hsftbinsider and neither one of you contradicted the assessment and the assessment was that only Shivy was a difference maker.....so either give us your assessment or quit bringing it up. You keep wanting to blame somebody. I do agree that the play calling needs to be more creative. No question that Graham Clark is a good coach.
  17. Not much to argue with there. 28 is being kind. It can most likely be whatever OR wants it to be. JC continues to try to run a power offense without the power. As I have said along, we have to throw short ball control passes, misdirection, counters....reverses...fake reverses...anything to make the defense stay honest. We DO NOT have the ability to line up and run straight ahead consistently....yet...maybe next yr. We could play DB 10 times and lose all 10 but when we make mistakes, in any game, we will have a very hard time against anyone. A sr. corner back recovers fumble in endzone and fumbles as he tries to run it back with 4 players all over him. Bad snap on fumble and punter does not take a knee for a safety. Eliminate these mistakes, throw in a little offense and the game is more respectable. We all knew it was going to be a challenging year, and it will continue to play out that way. I hope the boys keep their heads up and win 2-3 more games. Karns, Bearden and SH look like tough games to win. I hope we win 2 of these, and beat Cumberland Co. for a 5-5 record.
  18. you are correct, it was a bad call and I'm glad it didn't have any effect on the game.
  19. How horrrible could the call be when the kick wasn't blocked and the kicker gets knocked to the ground and limps afterwards....even after the next kick, he limped off the field. Jeff should have won the game by 2 TD's.....officiating was bad both ways....too many calls. Jeff Co. has to eliminate the mistakes.....fumble inside the 5, holding on 4th and 1 with a TD, ONCE AGAIN, WE CAN'T DOWN A BALL INSIDE THE 5 ON A PUNT...PLEASE WORK ON THIS. Sherrod was open for another 2 TD's but the QB's didn't get the ball there with no free safety in sight and no rush. Why don't we ever blitz a LB on passing plays? Can't imagine what Coach Smith said for the penalty.....they didn't argue when the flag was thrown though.
  20. I predict JC 17 ME 14 Our defense needs to play tough and I don't think ME has any breakaway runners. Both teams will need to sustain long drives since neither has the "take it all the way" threat. Penalties on offense and turnovers will determine this game. JC is more disciplined ,thus the 3 pt. advantage. JC will need to continue mixing up the play calling. I predict Reliford will have his best offensive game.
  21. Pretty funny. I guess no one at CC disagrees
  22. Nice team victory for the Pats. No heroes on this team. I don't know if were getting better on defense or if CC is just not that good. Johnson is a talented player but i think he is also a big problem for that team. I wasn't impressed that he took his helment off while on the field everytime he got a chance, he didn't seem to have much interaction with his fellow teammates and didn't shake hands with the pats after the game....he took a knee in front of his bench and appeard to think that everyone should have hovered to him and thanked him for playing....was suspended last week, I heard he didn't practice this week and you get the idea...I might be wrong but he appears to be everything I don't like about High School football and the folks around CC have most likely fostered his attitude....the whole CC team seemed to lack discipline and team unity.Long year for the Cougars. Big game for JC coming up against East.
  23. I forgot to tell you that your guess was wrong. I didn't play for JC, but have been here a while and love the area. I'll calm down.
  24. Well said !! You know the kids better than me but that is about what I expected.
  25. You would make a great presidential candidate based on taking comments out of context. I didn't say a word about the character of anybody that left the team. I simply said you don't have to be winner to have character... and that sometimes it takes more character to go out and lose week after week. Go back and read please and calm down. It is not unusual for people to leave an organization when changes are made at the highest level. If the trend continues, we have a problem. I don't think it will because I think Coach U will mellow and the boys will see that he means well. I might be wrong but time will tell.
