  1. That's the deal. You don't understand that not only do kids that transfer to private schools have to follow the SAME rules as public school transfers in terms of sports eligibility ... but they also have an added rule ... the 20 mile "current" student radius rule. There are a couple of kids at FCS that transferred from Lebanon. ALL sat out a FULL year of athletic eligibilty. All of them.
  2. Oh no ... that is exactly why I didn't toss the names out. I'm Googlin' looking for the article. That way, there is proof and it didn't officially come from me. Much unlike someone else we all know ... ::cough, cough:: ... you! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  3. Two namely in Maryville and Alcoa. Hmmm ... they seem fairly successful huh? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> It happens in several 1A schools especially in border towns that share a state line. However, I won't toss names out ... there is an old Tennessean article that stated the fact ... it was an article that stated the students that were Alabama residents were actually eligible for the TN lottery scholarships as they attended public schools within TN.
  4. Aaaaaaaactually, there are several public schools that have out of county kids. Many that are BIG time winners. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  5. Did anyone notice that HALF of all state championship game participants in 1A and 2A were magnet schools and that HALF of the state champs for 1A and 2A were magnets? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  6. Great. Temple had to go and win the 1A state basketball championship. Now we will have to hear about it for a full year. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Seriously, congrats Temple!
  7. Ha! If you think they recruit now (which they don't), just wait until they don't have TSSAA rules to abide by. You'll be VERY surprised ... zero to unlimited will surely open your eyes. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  8. You might want to know what your cheering for before you cheer. If the privates have a league with their own rules ... do you think they are going to care about any of the "THSA" rules? For example, what would stop them from making an all out push to really recruit athletes? It won't be illegal for them as "THSA" rules won't apply. Imagine a BA telling Mr. Daily that they could get him into Auburn. Things like that are almost a certainty.
  9. I'd guarantee that there are MP kids enrolled and playing sports that live outside the zone. In addition ... here is a Tennessean story of a Maury county co-op player: http://preps.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...54&game_id= Yes, I understand Culleoka doesn't have football ... still is an open zone.
  10. Uh, I know Mel and his brothers very, very well. He is an admin there with no interest in coaching ball. Coach Brown didn't win it every year, nor did he win an abnormal amount. Nor was his last set of teams world beaters. Sooner or later Purvis will win one.
  11. As long as they have Mark Purvis as a coach, they will always be a extremely competitive team vying for state tournament births.
  12. Posthumously ... FCS 9 - Lebanon 5 /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Does anyone have a quick recap of the game?
  13. Ahem, privates don't recruit. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  14. There was a limit before the D2 split for all privates.
  15. For the sake of the Merit System, they only have a choice to play up. The Merit System will determine their official classification. If from there they decide to play up in classification - then that would be there choice. In the Merit System, size actually doesn't matter. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  16. So now it is not only the "pool" of kids, but also the "pool" of coaches? When does it stop? Is it when the number of red bricks on a rural school are directly proportional to the brown bricks on a urban school? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  17. But there was one there wasn't there? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Apparently that is one too many. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  18. I must agree. I've seen tons of ball fields, my kids are zoned Siegel, and I've seen all the other Boro fields - and they are all unbelievably nice (why am I now too old to play on them?). But I have just one word for BGAs ... plush. Coming from someone that despised BGA while in school.
  19. So if Chris Shriverdecker had moved to Carthage ... he wouldn't have made a big difference? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" I'm thinking a big YES. Since my only point of reference for MP is Senior Tiger himself, is it wrong if I feel that way? /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Just kidding folks. Seriously. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  20. Only in your head. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> But it doesn't make it "true" just because you are the primary believer. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  21. Nope. It would allow kids that can not afford to attend the private without financial assistance to attend AND play athletics. That's it. There are already tons of kids in the privates that are on financial assistance ... they just can't play sports if their school is in D1.
  22. My guess ... and I'm guessing ... is that the old rule would be reinstituted. I believe football allowed no more than 3 students on financial aid to participate before the D2 split.
  23. I wonder what the cap is? I don't think it will cover the full amount of their fees AND BA's ... granted that BA does finally end up winning after all appeals are done and FINALLY over.
  24. I'm not an expert at much of anything by any means, but my understanding about the teams being about to play one another from different orgs requires 2 things: 1. The willingness of both schools to play each other 2. Both new organizations being santioned nationally (although, I am going on rumor about this one - shame on me) Much like playing an out of state opponent.
