Speaking from a Hickman County standpoint I totally agree. We were without a head coach for about 4 months. Then Coach Swenson was hired and things started to change almost immediately. Hickman has been down for about 6-7 yrs. We are at 3-3 now having beat Lewis Co. for the first time in 18 yrs and Startford (a metro team) for the first time ever. It all started with hiring a coach with a determination to turn it around. And he worked the kids all spring and summer in the weight room and conditioning. Let's face it, high school football is year round now and it takes commitment year round to reap the rewards.

Depends on which bulldog team shows up Friday. If it is the team that is determined and mentally ready, it will be close. If it is the team that simply walks on the field and says "we'll win this game," then the dawgs are in for a long night.

Josh Brown from Hickman County is 6'3" 217 pounds, plays RB and LB. Has quickness and is a great worker. He also punts pretty good.

#22 for the panthers this guy has a ton of potential. We just could not match the overall team speed of Maplewood. #22 (freshman?) has got speed, quickness, and the uncanny ability to find a hole and squirt through it. Wish we had a couple like him. Better yet, take 65 south to the Spring Hill exit, hop on down to Columbia and catch hwy 7 north to hwy 46. Then proceed to I-40 and go west to the Bucksnort exit. From there it is just a little bit to the field. And what a field, field stone actually in the field, bermuda grass (wait there ain't no bermuda grass, that's crab grass), and plenty of room for their fans to drive right up to the fence and watch the game from their vehicles. From there they will be able to see the score board as the boys post the cards giving down and distance and the score (we never know how much time is left cause we ain't got no clock on the board). We love the country!!

Let's see, Maplewood wins 14-12. PC dropped a TD because the RB can't find the handle in the last 10 yards. IF he scores that makes it 18-14 (probably because PC's kicker couldn't kick his way out of a wet bag). How do you get a tie game out of that???

Maplewood had 1 offensive TD ... PC had the winning score in hand till their RB decided to drop the ball out of bounds!! Both teams played "D," but PC had the better offense for the night. The win was determined by the kicking game and the ability to make extra points. Maplewood wins the game on that. As for this week - it should be close.

#2 for HC only had 128 yds and #3 had 102. Not bad for guys who are running scared or whatever you are implying. Thankfully all played hard and it looked like no serious injuries to either squad. This was a nailbiter for sure. What a way to open for Waverly, double OT!! The Tigers played tough all night and took advantage of HC mistakes. I hope that they continue to improve and keep their heads up. Good game Tiger fans.
