Who is the tall assistant coach, not Couey but the older gentleman?
  2. What is going on with Coley? Is she hurt again? I thought she was over the injury she had earlier this season.
  3. I heard through the grapevine that Smith County has had knee injuries. Who has gone down? Is it player who were starting? Did the transfer get hurt, and another as well?

Lipscomb will have solid guard play if they're playing a team that doesn't press and that doesn't put much pressure on the ball. Otherwise, Lipscomb has always been sketch as far as ball security goes. A lot of their better players over the years have been forwards and post players, or athletic girls who might play on the wing but aren't primary ball-handlers. Lipscomb lost a ton from last year's team. It will be a major rebuilding project. Ernie will have them working hard though. Good luck to Lipscomb.
  5. Boys, boys, come on now. Trousdale County is not "that" good. Fortunately, there's few gauges in terms of competition for the Yellow Jackets. They gave up a bundle to Gordonsville and won. Smith County rolled over Gordonsville. However, that is all irrelevant. You can't compare scores and get an accurate indication of how two teams are going to stack up against each other. Greenbrier is not "that" good either. However, they have managed to win close games, just as Trousdale County has. That is the sign of a good football team. With that being said, are both teams better than average? Without a doubt, they are. But unless it improves a ton throughout the course of the season, this Trousdale team is not a state championship level team. Greenbrier has put itself in a position to possibly finish second in that district with the win over White House. Goodpasture should win that district. There has not been one year, maybe with the exception of 1998, that Trousdale County would have won a state championship in a higher classification. Could Trousdale County compete well in a higher classification many years? Sure they could. But it's a different scenario when you're not having every other week as a breather because you're playing some weak sister in your district schedule. Trousdale County can't do anything about that. However, don't get it confused. It's a different ballgame in 3A than it is in 2A. Trousdale County is not touching the Goodpastures and Alcoas of the world. Greenbrier's early-season results did look a bit sketchy, but the win over White House validated the Bobcats as being a playoff level team. Results are the proof. Trousdale County will make a deep run in the playoffs again in 2A. There's just not much competition out there for the Jackets, unless Gordonsville rises up and pulls off an upset. Greenbrier will win one playoff game if it has a good draw. There's just not enough firepower there for the Bobcats to go too far in Class 3A. That's the difference in the two classes. If Greenbrier was in 2A, it would be winning at least two playoff games also. There's just more depth and better athletes in the higher classifications as a general rule. Of course, that's not to say that Trousdale County doesn't have its fair share of skill. But that "fair share of skill" has played a big part in Trousdale County winning all of those golden football - as has an unreal work ethic and elite high school coaching. Good luck to both teams and both programs. They both work extremely hard. Therefore, whatever success they enjoy is deserved.
  6. Was Sites not a skill guy? Seems like I remember him scoring touchdowns in the championship game last year.
  7. Is Greenbrier senior heavy? Who are the standouts?
  8. 3 vs 6 seeds (boys and girls) play on Thursday 4 vs 5 seeds (boys and girls) play on Friday All semifinals on Saturday Girls or boys consolation and championship on Monday Girls or boys consolation and championship on Tuesday
  9. Spann has had a lot of success. He's a good coach. He's always had some level of talent too if you look back at his Ezell teams. He's not the best coach in that district though.
  10. What games actually are being played this evening (Friday the 8th)?
  11. Neither team is supposed to be very strong this season, but I'm having a tough time believing that Goodpasture beat Cheatham County 51-21. Is that score correct? If so, what happened? Was Cheatham County not playing all of its players? I know that CC is not as strong as it has been in the past, but I don't believe that Goodpasture is very strong either.
  12. I heard the same thing, that Dever quit basketball. Why would somebody start that rumor? Was there talk of her leaving the team at some point?
  13. Station Camp did not allow a goal through regular-season district play nor through the district tournament this season? Have a lot of other teams accomplished that in the past? I mean, does that happen on a relatively regular basis? Any feedback would be appreciated.
  14. Mention specific coaches or just sit back and watch please. Yeah, obviously, the Maryvilles of the world have solid assistants.
  15. 13, you're so right on with what you said. However, stop living in the past. What has Gallatin accomplished in the last 15 years? What are you going to do to climb the mountain again? Your mountain may not be as steep as the mountain some other programs have, but you're not exactly looking down at everybody either. I would think that regularly having a winning record would be the goal of a program with three state titles and three state runner-up finishes. I would think they'd want to be sitting back atop that mountain. Despite some really good regular seasons, Gallatin hasn't even been close.

When did McCauley work his way into the list of top pitchers in the district? It seems like he has a ton of potential, and while I haven't seen him pitch a ton, I've seen him be very good and very bad too. Maybe he finally has it together, but I don't consider him to be amongst the Hansen, Curtis, Harper, Grosses of 9-AAA, at least not yet.
  17. Looking back on it 15 years later, Gallatin's tradition left with Calvin Short. Hate to say that, but it's true. Tradition won't get you a win on Friday night. Did any of you fans see the Gallatin-Beech scrimmage last year? Beech didn't peak until later in the year last year, but it wasn't even close (with Gallatin dominating play). And regardless of what Beech's record is, they are not the team they were a year ago with Allen, Huey, etc. Beech has seemed to improve steadily this year, especially since they could have easily started the season 0-3 after close losses at Clarksville Northwest and Wilson Central. Beech also had to hold on for to beat White House by a point. For those of you who don't know, White House is not bad, but they're not near as good as they were a year ago. Beech has found a way to win. That's characteristic of a good football team. Beech's wins are not that impressive, until last week's domination of Lebanon. That appeared to be dominating. Gallatin has played better competition. Gallatin has had more impressive wins. Gallatin is accustomed to competing in the state's highest classification, so playing in 5A while there are six classes now is almost a break. Gallatin has more size and speed. Maybe Beech does want it more. We'll see if that evens the playing field. Good luck to both teams. Gallatin wins 35-14, or maybe 28-7 given that the field condition is supposed to be very poor at Beech.
  18. Without mentioning a coach from the program that you have allegiance to, who are some of the top and most well-respect assistant coaches around? Let's hear ya.
  19. The difference between junior high and high school is that many players are almost finished growing, not developing physically, but almost finished growing by the time they enter high school. If you are already finished growing, you have to work very hard to stay ahead of the game (ahead of the other players who aren't as physically developed but who are still growing and narrowing that gap in terms of strength and speed). I'd be curious to know over the years how many of the MCJHS skill players are already very physically developed by the eighth grade. Then, maybe they move to a blocking fullback, tight end or offensive guard in high school. MCJHS places a big importance on winning it seems like, and winning is important. However, in doing that, is MCJHS somewhat compromising the development of its players by playing them out of position? Some of you long-time MC followers, fill me in with answers to those questions. Also, when you don't have much success, you don't believe that trend it's going to change. You may talk about changing the trend. You may hear the coaches talk about it. You may know as a player that your particular class is talented and has potential to do well, but it takes very mentally tough players and coaches (to instill that toughness in those players) to actually believe that and be determined that it's going to happen in the future. It's tough to keep your eyes on the prize. That's not an excuse. It's simply reality. If you're a talented freshman, you look at your upperclassmen leaders. Those upperclassmen may be talented and they may even lead the team in a relatively effective fashion, but they're still losers if they go 0-10 or 1-9. So, if you're an underclassmen watching losers, how do you know how to lead when your turn comes? Where does that education come from? Giving up 500 yards of total offense to DeKalb County does not look like progress. DeKalb County does have a very good offensive football team, but it's tough to give up 500 yards playing 12-minutes quarters. Also, running the football only 13 times in an entire game, well, I fail to understand the logic there. I didn't expect Macon County to beat DeKalb County, but in some of those close Tiger losses, you have to stop looking for the bright spots in a winless season and find a way - whatever it takes - to get a win. Hopefully, that will happen for Macon County later in the year. They need to know what a win feels like before they get to next year. Best of luck to the Tigers.
  20. With all of this rain coming in, will any games be postponed until Saturday evening. The rain is supposed to be out of here by Saturday morning. Fields will still be wet, but it won't be playing in standing water...just muddy.
  21. 1. Mt. Juliet - too much experience back and well-coached 2. Wilson Central - play too much AAU and thus the younger players will be improved and better than everybody except Mt. Juliet 3. Lebanon - talented yet vulnerable at the same time 4. Beech - lot of players back; Carroll is solid inside; play too frantic though; if you handle their pressure and run your sets well, they're beaten 5. Station Camp - lot of younger talent at the guards; North could be really good; must get better defensively 6. Hendersonville - it just hasn't come together; Iles and Duke are very good athletes, but those guards are small and though heady just not real good; could beat Station Camp 7. Gallatin - another new coach and little talent; lost best incoming player to Station Camp this year and last year 8. Portland - simply not very good
