  1. 2. Sonny is going to play. Why wouldn't he? Baseball? Well, there is a lot of two sport players, but I rarely hear people talking about quitting a sport for the sport their going to college for, as much as it doesn't seem like it. He's still a kid. 4. I can honestly say that the QB position is NOT the spot most people are concerned about. Two QB's are battling for the spot right now and our WR core will be VERY talented. Unfortunately, neither way we will have a QB with no Varsity experience. Good WR's make good QB's and we have about 3 dominate WR's and 3 solid ones. Minus Will Johnson (#88). He moved back to Nashville, but added Quentin Patton, a WR from Stratford with big time talent. LaVergne has too much talent not to make a run. WR's looked very promising at the 7-on-7. Has nothing to do with game situation, but the WR's are gonna go up and catch the ball. The defense will be fine once Justin Bather comes back, which will be next week. Our secondary will be good bringing back FS Williams and CB Bather. Patton and sophomore Hodges will battle for the other spot. Hodges will be a sophomore and went to state and placed 4th in the 100 as a freshman. 4.4 speed. Gray will see some time at SS, too. I haven't even talked about Ukwu, he can easily be the state's best sleeper. In my 4 years, this senior class is the most determined and most committed considering all captains are 3-year starters and they know what it takes. Right now, I see a #3 seed for us. We are getting better, but we can't get satisfied like we have in the past 3 years. 5. Will they need a deep-threat passing game? 7. With Harper, Kiss, Hughes, and Nance. Siegel shouldn't be last in the region. But who knows. 8. Blackman has Wallace...Wallace, umm...and Wallace. WC has some decent players, but I don't think they will make a run with the talent coming out of region 4.
  2. LaVergne WILL be back in the playoffs.
  3. Dude asked him if he was playing football next year and Sonny said yes. Lol it looked like dude snuck that one up on him cus Sonny hesitated for a sec. lol...Congrats Sonny. Go Dores!
  4. Scratch Hayes....Gardner, Williams, Stout, and Crocker are battling. and yes Grooms son does play QB and will be a top freshman next year. Along with Bryson from Smyrna.
  5. I say atleast 10 from region 4-5A. Wilks Spurlock Verge Bryant Lilienthal S. Gray C. Gray Bather Day Harper Wallace Majors McClain Tillery
  6. Or Big Mike! Where was all of these players last year? I saw Caleb and Hughes.
  7. yes it has happened, I wouldn't say we have potentially 4 or 5 if we didn't so everything I'm saying is logical. We've had several offers for 2 players that are D1A and D1AA. and listen how I said "prospects"...thanks for your concern though. Speaking of, Mike Bryant committed to Vandy last night! Congrats to him!
  8. Wow.. Sonny is amazing. Period. Best pitcher in the state after tonight. Can i get an amen?!?! lol 16 K's, 0 hits, 0 runs
  9. I didn't say we was changing from the spread. I'm just saying that teams will not be looking for the same stuff we used to run. There is more to it. and that spot is being battled by about 4 or 5 solid candidates.
  10. 1. Smyrna/Riverdale 2. Smyrna/Riverdale 3. LaVergne 4. Lebanon 5. Oakland 6. Blackman 7. Siegel 8. Wilson Central LaVergne is returning nine 3-year starters and 2 all-state players. The receivers make a good QB so whoever is QB will just have to get the ball in the air and our receivers will make it happen, trust me. I'm more concerned about the line more than QB. But we also have Tillery, the region's best RB that is returning. (by stats) We have the 2nd best WR in the region in probably every WR stat, behind Wilks. Also, returning the best CB in the region last year and will be one of the best in the state. We have atleast 4 or 5 D-1A prospects and LaVergne will not be known by the spread anymore. Didn't say they wasn't running it but we have a lot more in store for next year. We have too many athletes to not get to the playoffs, the athletes we got are the ones who helped LaVergne get back on their feet in the first place. Along with Hester.
  11. LaVergne starts early May. We are scrimmaging Brentwood. A lot of baseball and track won't be there. Some baseball may get out early.
  12. must be nice /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" lol.. Yeah, Rod is just fine. He'll do great things in the future.
  13. Nice to see Gray and Wilks representing region 4-5A. Let alone, Rutheford County. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. I didn't know they had much talent. It looks like my boy Maurecio will be carrying them this year, or atleast try to. As he has been doing the past 2 years.
  15. So how are all of the teams looking out there?
  16. Tyree Ford, Brentwood Academy, signing with UT-Martin.
  17. Jack Adams OL and Sherman Carter OL both will sign with Tennessee State from Lavergne!!
  18. All I know is that the 2008 class is probably one of the best LaVergne has ever had. As of right now, LaVergne has a lot of talent coming back. In my opinion, they have the most talent coming back besides Smyrna. Riverdale's talent is deeper than LaVergne's but I still think LaVergne has more talent. LaVergne needs to develope a 2nd string though. We really need support from da underclassmen because that played a big part in going to the playoffs 2 years in a row. We had 9 starters my sophomore year. 0 last year. I felt LaVergne quit in maybe the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the playoff game against Smyrna and I don't want to be part of that kind of team with that kind of attitude. LaVergne needs a QB. LaVergne needs 4 O-Linemen. But most of all, LaVergne needs heart. If you only knew how jealous I was watching Smyrna in the playoffs.
  19. LaVergne lost a lot on offense and its almost scary to think if Lavergne can patch up those areas. But Lavergne has a lot of talent returning including the leading rusher going into next year, all-state WR, and an all-state CB. Scary thing is, and to be completely honest, no support from the underclassmen (09 & 10).....................................yet. Terry Hodges and Kareem Wiggins are two excellent freshman, soon to be sophomores. Hodges might even be fighting for a starting spot. But there is definately no comparison between 08's underclassmen and 09's...The underclassmen better step it up because we had 0 starting sophomores starting, and maybe 3 switched in. 2008 class had 9 starters and about 4 that switiched in when they were underclassmen. The coaching deal won't be a factor. Hester will pick up right where LaVergne left off. But something really has to be done about the QB and OL deal.
  20. Sherman Carter commits to Tennessee State on a full-ride scholarship.
  21. Thomas playing defensive back or quarterback? The coachT signees page said defensive back but i dont know.
