  1. Until the proverbial lamb is led to slaughter. Lewis Co. visits GCHS and this one is going to be UGLY. (Lewis Co. aint got no alibi). Last time the Cats played Lewis Co. it was a struggle for LC to break into double digits. I'm predicting this one to be even worse. GC is playing the best ball in the state right now. NO ONE can stop them. This team can flat out play. They've got 5 or 6 guys who can jump right out of the gym. The real hidden weapon of this team however is the "bench mob". It's all led by Seniors Travis Gentry, Josh Haney, and Justin Morris. These guys can start for just about any team in the state. And are good for at least 15-20 points coming off the bench. That aint bad. If you want to see a good close hard-fought game... DO NOT COME TO THIS ONE. GCHS is going to decimate LC in every facet of the game. Giles Co - 89 Lewis Co - 10
  2. Tennessean's top 10 seems to be a little bit biased among teams around Memphis and Nashville. I mean, GC only lost to Columbia 71-64. I understand that Columbia pretty much shut down the Cats, but Travis Gentry really sparked the team with some late mop-up 3 pointers and given another minute GC woulda had to have brung the starters back in. Also as I was watching that game I noticed that with about 30 seconds left every time GC or Columbia made a shot, the clockkeeper let the clock run. I thought it was supposed to stop once under 2 mins. in the 2nd and 4th quarters? But come on Tennessean, give the Bobcats some love!
  3. I've never even heard of Jamont Gordan. What school's he go to? He a super soph as well?
  4. I'm here balla. Kentucky Kentucky you stink! Yeah, this was a GREAT team effort by the Bobcats. Scoring came from everywhere super sophomore Tyler Smith had 25 points, but usually quiet SG Kash Givens went nuts for 15 points WITH A BROKEN FINGER. Before the game I made it very apparent that to win this game Giles Co. would have to play as a well coached unit and must get production out of guards Eric Howard and Givens, well Eric poured in 10 and Travis Haney led the bench mob with 10 points of his own. Yeah rp44, Ngandi who was their 6'8" "baller" didn't do much of anything, and he wasn't even matched up against Tyler most of the game. To his credit though, he did get 3 very very quick fouls (I think all 3 in the first quarter) so he spent most of his time on the bench. I think Giles Co. is peaking just at the right time and when we come back from Christmas break it'll be time for district play to heat up.

    GC vs KY

Don't be intimidated to post about Giles County. I mean, we are the best team and all, but we're not limited to discussion only amongst fellow Giles Countians. Talk a little trash about the game which tips off in about 2 1/2 hours. Prediction: GC - 68 WK - 62
  6. Tonight Giles Co. takes on Kentucky Western from Louisville. (No, we're not taking on the Hilltoppers.) I think that even though all of the KY players are supposedly above 6'2", that our team speed will be too much for the Warriors to overcome. We have probably the quickest defender in all of Tennessee in PG Eric Howard. He had 15 points last game against Loretto, I recall, if Eric Howard gets more than 10 points a game the game is pretty much guaranteed to be a win for GC. Not taking anything away from Weezie, but when you have 3 dominating forces (Smith, Shannon and Fletcher) then you add in a swingman (Howard) it makes your offense that much better. I'm done ranting and raving, I hope y'all make it out to the game tonight, it'll be a good one. Wade
  7. Ok, that post made sense all the way up until that last part. Ok, we understand that you think GC isn't anywhere near LC in terms of football. I have a question for you... so what? Football is over. It's hoops time and having a good football team is going to make up for the fact that we drilled y'all.
  8. Hey, did I mention how BADLY we beat this Loretto team?
  9. Yeah yeah last time I checked this is the boys basketball board. Oh and don't try and talk any more smack until yall have earned the right to.
  10. The Bobcats will be ready. One thing that most people don't give credit to GCHS for is how deep they are. "The Bench Mob" includes people who could easily start on most of the other teams in our district: Josh Haney, Travis Gentry, Justin Morris, Wes Carter, Chris Phillips and even sophomore Channing Coffey who threw one down Tuesday against Loretto.
  11. Yeah, Loretto looked bad. Real bad. Their point guard played well, but he can't do it all by himself. I remember seeing that player who forgot the play too, rp44. He just stood their like "what do I do?" while the PG was yelling at him to get to his spot on the court. If you just look at the score of the game, it truly doesn't tell how bad GCHS dominated the Mustangs. Tyler had what 25 points and as a previous poster said I think 10 blocks 10-12 assississ, and 20 boards. GC PG Eric Howard also made a few easy steals, their (Loretto) passes were telegraphed.
  12. Wow, what a game this is gonna be. Better get there early, this one is gonna be huge. Go Cats!
  13. Shay and Tyler are hands down the best tandem, but if you swapped any of the 4 in w/ someone else it's not like they wouldn't be very effective.
  14. Tyler Smith and Shay Shannon. Tyler Smith and Tristen Fletcher. Tristen Fletcher and Shay Shannon. Tyler Smith and Eric Howard. Shay Shannon and Eric Howard. Tristen Fletcher and Eric Howard. Pick one of those 6 and you've got your answer.
  15. Alan Haney never played basketball. His cousin Josh Haney is a senior this year. GCHS is going to be very tough, staring rotation could be: Tyler Smith, Eric Howard, Shay Shannon, Tristen Fletcher and a number of people could fill in the 5th and final spot.
