You can’t have Coach Stone back lol.  I, too, miss those rivalry days with Boyd.  It became such a rivalry that in many ways was more fun that the Jasper/SP one.  It was more competitive for many years while the Jasper one was stagnant.  I doubt we were turned down by Boyd.  Most likely it was a scheduling issue since they made the full move to D2, but then again you never know.   We’ve all heard rumblings about the next coach(es), but at the end of the day we just gotta trust the process.  The couple of candidates I’ve heard R-U-M-O-R-S about would certainly get the nod from me if my vote meant anything.  The only things I ask of the process are:

(1) talk to the kids.  It doesn’t have to be who they want but most DEFINITELY needs to be someone they need

(2) leave the politics out of it meaning the parents and the community leaders.  I’m not saying don’t give them a voice, but just don’t let their voices dictate the decision.  This will only put us right back where we were with CCJ and CBW.  

(3) let the decision be made by the AD, the Principal, and allow the longest tenured current coach to have a voice, unless that coach is up for the job, then speak with the next longest tenure.

Yep we at SP may see that happen a little here and there over the next several years, but I don’t see it being 3 years downtime, maybe 1 or 2 at the most.  2-3 really great football players at our level can make or break a season.

I don’t see TC running dry.  I just see other teams in that region getting better and better each year.  I’ve been wrong before but just can’t see TC not being in the mix come 3rd and 4th rounds of the playoffs every year.

My question today is how does one get D1 offers?  Several young me from SP seem to have the same size if not bigger than other’s yet the D1 offers don’t seem to be trickling in.  Is there a political side to it?  It can be all about exposure.  Thanks in advance.

I watched the whole first half.  Those big plays down field by Westview we’re back breakers.  Even more so was the stop on the half yard line before the half.  I was pulling for you Hampton.  That Jones boy sure is tough and leaves it all on the field.  I wish we  had a couple guys like him on our team.  Take away Simpson and Hampton probably wins State.  Simpson is definitely as advertised.  Good luck to him at Bama.

I slightly disagree with you.  While the matchup might have been different I don’t believe McKenzie slows down Cloudland’s offense.  That bunch formation with those two RB’s was tough to slow down by us and would be for many other defenses.  I admire  Coach Benefield.  25 years old and has that much success.  He’s a good one so make sure y’all hang on to him @THE KING

Are you referring to McK backfield or ours?  If McK then I agree they all moved a step forward a lot during the game before the ball was snapped.

Those young men fought through a lot of adversity during the season and deserve all they've accomplished. You could see a difference in the kids this year than last years game. They wanted it more. Thanks Pride.  We overcame a lot and most folks across the state counted us out through the playoffs and definitely this game.  Our defense came alive when it mattered the most.  And even more than that our Senior Mr Football Finalist ended with the MVP of the game with 19 carries 170 yards I can’t remember for sure.  Great job.  Once again, Once a Pirate Always a Pirate.

Yeah I can definitely see the talent that is there.  I hope he has the work ethic.  It becomes a full time job in college, then of course definitely is a job in NFL.  I hope to see him play at TN and make the most of it.  It appears he put on a little weight (muscle) from last year, correct?  IMO your QB is your best player.  He can throw and run.  He has good size.  What grade and size is he?  What’s his name again?
