I hope our DL is tackling instead of blocking!

I hope he is playing DE and tackling.

I’ve personally not been impressed with 75 this season. He was hurt for the entire regular season so maybe he’s still not well.

You gotta remember he was in the best shape during the Jamboree and did really well.  Same against SC in first gem until he got hurt.  He was out for like 6-7 weeks where he could not do anything.  He got “out of shape” fast.  Then he lost a lot of weight per recruiters’ requests.  So, combine no conditioning with losing weight and that will give you an out-of-football shape player.  He will still get his offers but might not be the big SEC like before season.  I’d suggest going to a smaller school for a year or maybe two and get in shape.   Then try to get noticed and picked up by an SEC school.

I wanna wish both teams an exciting contest and a heart felt congratulations on representing your schools in this contest.

Man, it sure is great to see you posting.  I thought we’d lost you!

As far as McKenzie, plain and simple they are a great team and quite possibly the best in 1A and 2A.  The RB is special and I see why he’s a D1 recruit.  We both run similar offensive schemes.  We both have really good RB’s and a QB.  For those asking you can also stream the game on the NFHS Network.  It’s already listed in upcoming events.

  3. Mckenzie is bigger than us and stronger than us.  They want revenge for 2007 where the men we had won, not Grider.  Anyways, we’ve had a little luck on our side all season long and sometimes that’s what you need.  Right now we are the underdog and should be.  It’s gonna be tough to beat the Rebels.  Can we?  Yes we can.  Will we?  Gotta show up 4 quarters.

Maybe Coalfield and Cloudland aren't that bad after all. Of course the always overconfident South Pitt fans make it hard to tell every year.

Only 1 quote unquote SP fan that called for a mercy rule runaway type game was whoever this so called Pirateman28 is, so don’t say all SP fans.

I expected this last week and I think this proves my analysis that the east is terrible this year hate to be right though

You might want to rethink that.  It goes back and forth.  If you’ve been an avid football fan for many years like us, then you’d know this.

Maybe this will stop your outlandish predictions.  It's called respect.

My hats off to the Pirates.  Your defense got just enough stops to keep you in the game.  That last td pass was caught in perfect coverage.  #2 was just outathleted.  I remember one pirate poster early in the season said we were not very good and shouldn't be in the top 10.  I hope you own that mistake

I’ve picked Cloudland since week 1 to be the dark horse and I was right.

It was great to meet you too buddy.  We missed AppVol somehow.

I think 57 Huntley, is stronger than Gio. That’s why those two, 75 and 57, are such a force up the middle.

Huntley has played 1000x better since Gio has returned.  It’s almost like he wants to play up to Gio and play better than him.  With those and the emergence of Hunter on defense in the playoffs, they are a force.

How good is Cloudland’s line? Are they just big or are they actually good? That’s my question. Someone said it earlier, you will know within the first 3 minutes of the game how this one will turn out. Slick field advantage Cloudland.

Can’t arm tackle Birchfield he’s kinda shifty while running behind 3-4 blockers 35+ times a game.  If he’s able to run that many times against us then we aren’t hitting him hard enough!  Get used to the field in pregame!

I drove by that stone man and little grider mans practice field tonight and they were not practicing our boys.  They have won three playoff games and now have got cocky like grider used to be.  This is a bunch of mess.  You think im joking but im not.

That’s brothers growing up together.  Then the Stone man learned under that Big Grider man.  He’s already sending the QB back and forth with the plays, then waiting until 15 seconds to have the QB run in with  the play, so then we either get delay of game or have to burn a durn timeout.   All was just like Grider.  We all know Coach Stone prepares better than just about any coach across the state, but I’d like to see just for once we have a head coach not rely on the laminated play sheet in their hands or the multiple coaches talking in those durn headsets at the same time in his ear.

When I watched on film, the flag was thrown before the play was over. When I asked him what happened he said the other player started mouthing and he said, "I just drove you 15 yards." Again, the flag came in before any of that. Either way, it's moot. I do wish I would've got to talk to ya though.

Gotcha.  I have not watched film yet.  I wish I’d seen you.  Maybe you will make the drive to Cloudland? Lol.

He was #55. He's the one who got the personal foul, which I thought was a bad call after watching the film. I looked for you a couple times but I was afraid to venture too deep into pirate territory.lol

Yeah I thought it was but then questioned myself and talked to a different player.  I don’t think it was physicality action that got the personal foul, but he was mouthing something for at least 10 seconds and I think whatever he said got him the PF.  I could be wrong.

My honest take is that I was largely disappointed in a lot of things. I'll leave it at that.

But bottom line, SP had/has the better team. To reference an earlier conversation in the thread, they have 3 or 4 athletes that we simply don't have, and we weren't able to overcome that deficit. And, I think we possible weren't ready for that big of a moment. For the most part, the same team will be back on the field next year and ready, hopefully. Could we have done some things differently this year to make it a different game? Possibly, but woulda, coulda, shoulda....

As far as my son playing his last game, the sting was somewhat lessened because he blew out his knee the first game of the season, and had been really only able to do some long snapping. But, he was "ok" about it as he was still contributing. It wasn't what we wanted, but it's what we got. Gordonsville football means a lot to us, and I'm glad we shared that experience together. I've got another that will be a freshman next year, and I hope we get to have that experience as well.

I looked for you son on the field but I think I talked to the wrong player lol.  What was your son’s number?

I garuntee im just real glad we dont have to listen to the fellars around the jailhouse for a while.  Them fellars must be still licking wounds.  Figured lying lips is telling them what plays they should have run.  You think im joking but im not.

I don’t supposed any of them will be at our game tonight.  Even if so, they won’t sit on our side and support our kids.  Am I wrong Roy?

Let's put it this way...there's a difference between athleticism and talent. We've had more talent than SP in the past, but I've never seen us have more athleticism.

One instance I can think of specifically is 2006. We played at SP, and I watched warmups and was blown away by the athleticism, and I was extremely worried. We won 41-14, I believe. SP was an athletic, young team that year. The next year they had the talent to go with the athleticism.

I remember this game.  We had a great team but those kids needed that loss to fuel them to the championship the next year in 2007.  That 2006 game our QB threw a late INT that sealed the game.  I was thinking in 2006 we lost to Trousdale, but I could be wrong.  You sure that 2006 game was vs Gordy, and not 2004 or 2005??

  12. Dry field - speed kills.   Also, @croz6110 we start around 5 sophomores on defense, 3-4 seniors, and 2-3 juniors.  At the skill position we have a great group of sophomores.  Several haven’t hit their growth spurt yet.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see #35 LB Farrior in the mix for Mr Football when he’s a senior.  If he gets bigger he will have a few offers as well.  I really praise him.  I just see so much potential.

Nothing to say tonight that might hurt my admirers feelings but I will say this.  Tough luck for these kids, they did help turn the program back around and great group of kids.  I have coached most of them in one sport or another and we all knew it would be tough sledding 2 weeks ago when the leader went down.  Congrats to watertown though,  they did what they had to do.  I will echo several sentiments though, i hope this offensive playbook was thrown in the trash in the locker room tonight.  Without a mobile qb the offense will look like this next year and there will be more upset kids and fans at the end of the season.  Perhaps it is time to give Starkey total control of the offense and quit trying to micromanage things.  Like was said, there are two many good players on this team to bunch everyone up and have one formation.  Good luck to the seniors going forward.

Admirer??  Everything was great, except “admirer” threw me off on what all you were trying to say.  PP68 is your admirer?  But anyways like PP68 said the younger ones including the really young ones are full of talent which should be exciting to watch the next few years and then some.
