  1. GWave, both teams have their work cut out for them this week. Gallatin is not coming in here as underdogs this year. The edge seems to be toward Gallatin. You guys have a great offense and a very solid Defense. We have a great Defense, and a solid (at times) offense. For Henry County to win, we have to be able to put some points on the board and get some turnovers. This is going to be an exciting game!!! Go Big RED!!!
  2. Well, that was definitely one for the record books. It was as impressive a performance from a single back EVER in Patriot Stadium. And I would venture to say probably the only time one will have that kind of performance there. HC is traditionally a Defensive team and more often than not a "stop the run" kind of set. But that particular game, Hurd would not be denied and he showed it! HC fans really enjoyed our series with Beech, maybe we will do it again in the future...
  3. Well, well, well! Gallatin week is finally here! Been looking forward to this one for quite a long time. Much respect for all of the Green Wave faithful. I played against them in the playoffs many moons ago (before '92). This being our first regular season meeting, I'm excited! First thing I want to suggest, is skip the restaurant scene altogether and come tailgate - its the essence of Henry County Football atmosphere. There will be plenty to eat and it will likely be much better than eating out. So come enjoy some good food, drink, and talk football! Olddevil, myself, QBClubPrez and many others will be there. MSURacer - you need to come tailgate too. Now for the game. Our run defense is for real, its even more for real when we are expecting a team to come and run at us. We have two legit next level players that are ready to try and stop Mason, or at least keep him in check. How your QB moves around will make a difference, and whether or not he can throw under pressure. This team is improving each and every day they come out. Like someone said before, our kicker is on point and a definite weapon. Very excited to see how this plays out. Go Big RED!!!
  4. Once again, we arrive at Gameday!!! Looking forward to some Patriot Pride showing through tonight and a victory in Clarksville! Let's Get it ON!!! Go Big RED!!!
  5. Sorely missed, but never forgotten...rest in peace Fitz!
  6. I don't have the correct to the number stats, but I would say it was more like 60-40 passing. They did try to run enough to attempt to keep it honest, but it was quickly snuffed out. Their shorter passes also didn't do to well. Like you said, it was the bombs that got them their yardage.
  7. I'm still worn out from Friday nights game! I can only think that if we survived that Air Assault, we can only get better from here on out. Looking forward to kicking off the Clarksville series this year with Northeast. Haven't heard much from them, so no analysis. But I look for our Patriots to be ready and improved... Go Big RED!!!
  8. Good Morning Yanker! Last week was rough, and I am hoping that you are absolutely correct on both accounts. It is shaping up to be a great looking GameDay!!! Weather will be nice, food will be great, and here's to some great football tonight!!! Let's Get it ON!!! Go Big RED!!!
  9. I am in agreement with this, but it could be a 14 point victory simply because I think defense scores this week...
  10. Man o man, had to lick my wounds before getting back on here this week. I hate losing, but hate it even worse when I feel like certain parts of the team didn't play up to par. My hats off to Liberty tho, they played well and have a heck of a QB and receivers! They got it done, and that's all that mattered. Now on to game 2. I have to agree with the Reaper, and from what I have heard already practice has been pretty rough. I look for the Patriots to come out guns ablazin' and firing on all cylinders. I sure hope so anyway... Go Big RED!!!
  11. Its Gameday baby!!! Can't wait for some Big Red football tonight at Patriot Stadium!!! Facts tells us that it is a perfect evening for some action on the gridiron. So without further adieu... Let's Get it ON!!! Go Big RED!!!
  12. Its looking like a beautiful night for some football! I can't imagine a more pleasant forecast for a late August evening. Just ready for Friday to get here We're about 36 hrs from kickoff and the electricity is building. dhstennis - come look for olddevil at the pregame tailgate near the fieldhouse on the practice field. Going to be a great time and some good eats! Facts, join us! You know where we are! Go Big RED!!!
  13. The Long Lost Yanker! Welcome back old friend! So does this mean that we can expect your predictions on Wednesday's now? I like your thinking in this one. And I hope you are correct in your alma mater's score as well! I look forward to hearing your banter with other posters on here as well. Because there is no doubt, you are the One of a Kind Yanker!!! Go Big RED!!!
  14. Great post and I wholeheartedly agree, since we are debating 2011 v. 2015 defense - makes me very excited!!! Really ready to see some Patriot Football in a few days!!! Go Big RED!!!
  15. Remember, Jelks was not on Defense. Also, I said may be - only time will tell. And I am pretty confident that this yrs LBer's are better. #47 is the best LB I have seen at HC in MANY years. There is a reason schools are looking at him... Not to mention #97 and his portfolio. But again, these are just opinions and thats why we have fun talking about them on here!
  16. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that no runner exceeds 100 yds. But in all likelyhood, it will be somewhere in between. I personally don't think this back is nearly as good as Bush, just my opinion tho. The QB is good and will need to scramble becasue I think our D will be after him all night long. But I think you are on to something saying that the turnover battle will be important - just don't think it will go the way you predict... I will have to respectfully disagree that our D is about the same as last year. We look much stronger up front and are looking at a new set. Our front seven may be the best front we've seen! Only time will tell. But I can say this, the kid from MBA was better than the Bush kid from last year. And probably gauging from how a typical game would go, he would've broken 100 yds, but would likely have been contained. But either way, we'll find out soon enough how good this Defense really is come Friday night!!! Go Big RED!!!
  17. This is the primary basis on what I stated about our run defense this year. MBA was able to move the ball, but not at will. We held them to a field goal and caused them to punt a few times. This being an MBA team with 2 O Linemen that are committed to major SEC and Notre Dame, along with a running back that was VERY highly rated. So my point being that if we were able to hold them at bay somewhat, most other teams will not be of that kind of calibur and will have extreme difficulty against our D Line/Linebacking Crew. But nonetheless, this is only my opinion...
  18. And so it begins! After the last couple of weeks of practice and scrimmages, there is much excitement in the air around Henry County. There is no doubt that Liberty will come to play and they always have lots of atheletes on the field at any given time. As for them being able to run on this HC Defense, that is a tall order. I think most teams will have a hard time running against us. I am very happy to see the improvements on O through the past couple of weeks. Friday night was impressive. Look forward to a fun time at Patriot Stadium Friday night!!! Go Big RED!!!
  19. Good to see ya tennis! Been a long time. How is Liberty looking coming into the next couple of weeks? Looking forward to that one. On the Paducah Tilghman note, I just talked with someone from over that way. Sounds like they have a pretty strong coaching staff and are looking to build on last year - which wasn't too shabby I hear. But I don't know anything about the players or who to watch. Guess we'll just have to wait til Friday...
  20. 2dogs, thanks for the props. Are you an MBA fan or Patriots fan? I agree with you our Defense looked pretty solid - particularly up front and LB's! I took away more positives than negatives in this scrimmage. But we have to, and I mean HAVE TO get our long snapper shaped up! Two of MBA's 3 TD's against our #1 D was due to the fact that punting gave them the ball inside our 10 yd line. Not good. Our offense certainly had issues with their first D, but was able to move the ball some despite having a few penalties that kept us from getting first downs. I don't believe we would see that calibur of competition until maybe Semi's. MBA was really, really good.
  21. Scrimmage tonight against MBA - excited and nervous to see how we stack up. Looking forward to the start of the season in a couple of weeks too! Should be a great night for some football in NashVegas!!!
  22. Pretty unlikely for a jamboree. I might be wrong, but I don't see us making that available.
  23. Yes, last year wasn't pretty. But the year before (2013) we most certainly held our own at their house. And that year we were expecting to have a very strong defense, much like this year. So I am looking forward to this year's test.
  24. VERY pleasantly surprised on Friday night. I may have miscounted as well, but I thought it ended up 31-0. Really, the key to the story was that Milan had one good series and the rest were stopped by our Defense. Offense built a ton of confidence! I was very happy to see this. And to go along with your assessment MSU, our freshmen looked impressive. I'm excited to see how we look against the gold standard this Friday. It will tell us alot I believe...
