  1. To beat any team you have to out score them. That is certainly not unique to Alcoa.
  2. Don't forget "AND". Could be a combination of both.
  3. Nope. The game is over. OS 42, CR 40. CR will be back next year no doubt.
  4. No doubt Clark Range will back. It must have been a really good game to watch. Neither team got ahead by much, just a few points and there were several lead changes. I noticed the score did not change for about the last two minutes. Did OS simply stall or was the defense on both sides that difficult. Why did Clark Range not foul to get the ball during the last minute? Were they afraid of OS ability to shoot the free throws? Anyway, congratulations Clark Range on making it to the state. Your impressive record shows that you have the ability and a successful program in place. See you next year in the state tournament.
  5. Game over. OSHS Won 42-40. Must have been a good game with 5 lead changes.
  6. Boo-ing is part of the game. You boo opposing teams, you boo refs for an unfavorable decision. Then the next 4.3 seconds you are cheering your teams play or a call that went your favor. It is part of the game. Derogatory remarks should not be allowed, boo-ing should be OK. I have known to clap for the opposing team when a player makes an outstanding play. I do not cheer, but I applaud the effort of the player or players. I will boo a bad call from the ref, I will boo an opposing player that tends to get a little aggressive or exhibits anger. It is part of the game. However, I will never boo a good play byt the opposing team. Don't eliminate boo-ing from the game.
  7. Well, yeh I do. There are multiple scenarios to come up with a 26 point score. I was just curious what the rational was for the score. I know nothing about Hampton and their ability to kick extra points or their field goal capability. One of my scenarios was "miss a couple of extra points". You can even get 26 by scoring three touchdowns, extra points by running, and a safety (highly unlikely, but not impossible.)
  8. How did you arrive at the 26? A couple of missed extra points? Two touchdowns and four field goals? Was there a safety in the mix? Regardless, two teams with the records they have for the season, and with the talent available, it should be a good game. There will be no loosers, just one winner and one non-winner.
  9. It is 160 or so miles to travel from Hampton to Coalfield. Avoid going through downtown Knoxville by using I-640 especially during the 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM time frame. Once you get west of Knoxville the traffic is fine even during rush hour. The east side of Knoxville will be the real problem. Then catch Pellissippi Parkway to Oak Ridge, through Oak Ridge (no turns), hang a right at the second traffic light in Oliver Springs and you will soon be in Coalfield. My prediction is the ride home after the game will be the longest ride of the year. Hampton's season will be over and the bus will be quiet. However, Hampton can go with pride knowing that they, as a team, did much better than the majority of the teams. Coalfield 20, Hampton 17. Make it a good game fellas even if my prediction is incorrect.
  10. Must be a short tune! Anyway, let's hope it is a good game, played well by both sides, and enjoyed by the fans. A close game with the outcome decided by less than a touchdown and decided late in the fourth quarter.
  11. Yeh, I think you misread and misunderstood my post. My point was that it does not take much sometimes to swing momentum in the game. Two events happened in close proximity and then things started working for OS. It was a good game and for the most part was a clean game. There are always a couple of exceptions. The game was a contest to the end and SHS prevailed in the last seconds. There are no loosers, just non-winners.
  12. I don't know. It was enough to cause the refs to move the chain gang to the other side of the field. That is something that I have never seen before. Whatever it was it may have contributed to the swing in the game. It may also have been the SHS player ejection. I don't really know. You be the judge. It has been stated here by others that I was implying that the chain gang did something, uh, shall we say, less than ethical. I would not even consider that possibility as the risks are simply too great. SHS has more integrity than stooping to that level. In my opinion it was just one of the motivating factors that caused the swing in the game and made it a very good contest in which SHS prevailed. As for the Coalfield vs OS game I just want to see a good game. A rivalry that is matched by the performance and integrity of the players on the field. If an opposing player makes a good play don't booh. You don't have to cheer, but maybe at least an acknowledge of a good accomplishment by a player. A hand clap or two would be nice. These young men need to be rewarded and appreciated for their work and the entertaining of the fans. A spirited rivalry, one that everyone enjoys, and can support their favorite team, to be able to cheer without ridicule, to see a good effort on both sides of the field, to see both teams congratulated for a job well done, is what this game should be all about. Good playing to both teams. Make it a good one for the crowd. There will be no loosers, only non-winners.
  13. I never said the chain gang did anything. Two events happened in close proximity that sparked the offense. Was it the removal of the player? Was it the relocation of the chain gang? My point was that it does take much to swing momentum. As for your name calling I find that unnecessary. If that is the best that you can do to express yourself, well so be it. At least I can spell.
  14. Or you could also equate that to the chain gang (from Scott County) being forced to move to the home side of the field. Nothing OS tried worked until the chain gang was relocated. Coincidence? I'll let others be the judge. Something was not right that caused the officials to stop the game and make the chain make the trip around the end zone to the opposite side of the field.
