  1. I wish I knew! Our AD says maybe our coach says no, I have called ER twice and left messages and heard nothing, so I am not sure...I hope not. Temple has plenty of scrimmages and the Jamboree is not necessary for us.
  2. Not only will Temple have the opportunity to see them play 0 week but also in their Jamboree on August 12th. By the time the game rolls around both teams will know what the other is going to try to do. Temple has learned that the defense changes when Temple is involved because of all the passing, other than that I don't think there will be all that many surprises. Knowing what the Indians are going to do is not the problem, STOPPING them will prove to be difficult! But that's why we play the game. I expect Sequatchie to run the Wing T and do so very well, and I this year they will mix it up with some passing since they have a good kid at QB and might even run a bit from the gun...and I haven't even seen them play yet, so I could be 100% wrong. But that is my guess from what folks have said on here.
  3. You guys are exactly right. At the smaller levels it is done and at times must be done. At the bigger schools not so much. Every once in a while you have a freshman like we did a couple of years ago who is 6'2" 180 pounds and runs decent but that is the exception not the rule.
  4. I would really like some help with this one! Our coaching staff has called ER and left a couple of messages and we haven't gotten a response. Does anyone know who is in this one?
  5. I think that this makes CB more dangerous. With teams that run the ball well the line is THE key, just like Whitwell, they lost key skill guys but with that line back juts find someone who runs hard and good things will happen. I will be this will the case for the Cougars as well. Find a guy who is tough and runs hard and I know CB has them, and you guys will do great!
  6. How close am I on this: Skill Pos O&D line Depth Coaching Intangibles SP A+ ???? A A+ B Whitwell ???? B+ B New C LV Young B Young C C+ New B CB ????? C C+ A+ C Temple A+ C D A A The question mark for SP will be upfront but that is it. For Whitwell, they have to replace their skill people but have the linemen back. LV is young and getting better all the time. I simply do not know what CB has for skill folks, so I could be wrong making that a question mark. Temple's weakness is their depth, not enough players, a few injuries and season could be a long one. By intangibles I mean things like, do you know what they are going to do, how easy is it to prepare for them etc. For example Wing T teams are not real fancy, that doesn't mean you can stop them, but you know what they are going to do and they do it. Boy that did not come up the way it looked when I put it in, sorry.
  7. I think everyone might be in for a bit of a surprise on this one. SP is the favorite but there are four teams that could upset them on any given night. Lookout Valley is going to be a lot better this year and even better than that in 2006, so if they get the breaks, any Friday night in the region could be theirs. CB is always competetive because of their excellent coaching and Whitwell has a tremendous program as well. Temple is the wild card because you just don't know what they will and won't be able to do. The spread offense, especially the way they run it, is hard to prepare for. By the end of the season this region could be standing on its head. This is going to be a fun year!
  8. The point that big body made was that Temple can score points. In the three game you mentioned CAK, Whitwell and CB, Temple averaged over 31 points in those three games, granted they lost 2 of them, but again, the point was that they can score. Temple has nothing to lose going into Sequatchie game, they are not suppose to win, they are playing a bigger school and it will only make them better, that is why it is on the schedule. Temple will give them all they can handle and it is a different style of offense so maybe that will play to the Crusaders favor, regardless the game gets them ready for a tough region schedule.
  9. If I remember right, Whitwell lost some key skill people but have pretty much their line all back from last year. This is what makes them dangereous in that wing-T. I agree that looking past them would be a mistake, they will be very competitive. Am I right that the Sequatchie runs the same offense? If so, the game will last about 30 minutes with all the running! Or will the tigers try and throw it a bit as well?
  10. Am I right to say that for the most part, not everyone, but the majority don't give Temple any chance against the indians? What would Temple have to do to compete with them?
  11. I realize that Boyd and Tyner are the talk of the region, but what about the Sequatchie boys? Isn't it true they will be much improved from last year? They lose 10 seniors but not all of them were contributors, so how do you think they will do?
  12. LValley 22, Seth ended the year with 947 yards receiving, 2nd in the city and 875 yards rushing, 11th in the city, 106 points, 3rd in the city...and was just a sophomore. He had 12 receptions against Whitwell and 55 for the year...and this year he has some help, 4 others who can really catch the ball, one freshman, one transfer, and Dee Newson who didn't play this year but as you know from BB is lightening quick. All of this to say that Temple will be just fine without Caleb. We know that LV will be much better and our coaches say that LV is the darkhorse and cannot be taken lightly...they will upset some folks and be a legitimate threat...but so will Temple.
  13. As I read things on here, I don't think Temple is saying all that much. We know that we have a tough road to hoe. SP will be good, and so will Copper, Whitwell and LV. If we stay healthy and are in great shape, (8-9 guys going both ways) we will be very competitive, if not, then we will be very average. We have some very good skill position people...very good. But they will be playing on both sides of the ball and that can wear you down. Our QB and one of our receivers is as good as anyone in the area. Our FB, at 230 is also extremely talented. If the line shapes up we will make some noise...that is where it is at, up front...time will tell, but we know that we can take NO ONE for granted.
  14. storm, what do the Rangers try to do offensively? How did you guys shut them down so profoundly and sounds like, pretty easily? We have to play them this year and have never played them in the past, so if you could give us the scoop it would help. thanks.
  15. WHAT ABOUT UNAKA??? I don't know a lot about this region, but last year they did real well and I heard, from one of their bb players that there woudl be better this year than last year. What do you know about this team? Are they really that good and why?
  16. Bigbody is 100% correct and it is interesting that people on this know more than SEC coaches. YOu could always call coach Fant and ask him, Kentucky did and that is what sold Kentucky...Fant said there was no doubt he could play in the SEC.
  17. This will be an interesting post if we can get any replies. The TE position is not prominent in Chatt, at least not receiving tight ends, due to the proliferation of the run in our area, most TEs spend their time blocking and not much route running. But if you guys have so exceptions, or if I am dead wrong, lets here it, I would love to know who is out there.
  18. Baldcoach is exactly right. And that is what makes a good coach, he is willing to take the heat and willing to deflect the praise to his kids. Leadership knows that, accepts it and is not bitter nor found making excuses. That is why Boyd is a class program and will be as long as the current leadership is in place. Temple fans, of which I am one, like anyone else, wants to see their kids do well. This might be more important for a program like ours for a couple of reasons: A. We are so young. B. Very few people have much good to say about us and most posts are negative about our individual talent. It is always "they don't play anyone" Or, if they were on a REAL team those kids would be average", etc. etc. So the kids, understandably want to do something about it and want to defend their buds. Caleb had a great year playing football and they couldn't or didn't get the ball to him Saturday, fine...its over. The game's purpose goes beyond the game...and coaches that understand that are the kind of coaches you want your sons playing for.
  19. Redraider, you may be right, but then again, Temple has had two SEC coaches on campus and a dozen phone calls talking about Smithson, Seth Skogen, and Josh Smith. So, they are getting attention. Coach Shula from Alabama told Temple's coach Beard that he is keeping his eye on Seth. Seth's brother Caleb, although already signed to play BB has drawn interest this summer from Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Again, maybe nothing will happen, but the coaches are talking and this at least says something about the talent that these kids have.
  20. What do you guys think about the Tn team? Who are the studs? What can we expect to see?
  21. Bigbody, I went and watched the practice today for the Tn team that is playing NW Georgia's all stars and if you were our QB we would smoke. YOu would be the best thing they got. Work hard and you will light em up!
  22. cougerdad, I think you make a very valid arguement. We know that replacing a kid who runs under 4.5 and is a good athlete is not going to be easy, and if he hadn't pulled out some pretty remarkable heroics Temple would have lost that game. You could be correct, it may be to much to make up. However, I have never in all the years I have been around the game seen a more dedicated group of athletes as those getting ready at Temple for the upcoming FB season. I think they know they have a lot of ground to cover. We will miss that kind of speed, but I hope we can do some other things a lot better. We also know that CB will be tough, you always are and then with Whitwell and SP this Region is a great one for High school FB. Best to you guys, we have nothing but respect for you program, coaches and players.

DW- when did you have the opportunity to see Smithson play? Will you get to see him this year? He has some pretty big school interest and I would like to get your assessment on him, strengths and weaknesses.

Dawgwriter, where are you from? I do appreciate your knowledge and the ability you have to state your opinion with class, something these boards need a lot more of. I would love to know where you are from so as to ask you for your opinion on some other topics. Thanks
  25. Devilfanatic, this is Mr. Skogen and I want to thank you for your words. Most of the things that are posted on here are harmless, just kids having fun, but sometimes the comments lack discernment and taste. My boys are not perfect, but they are being taught the value of athletics and how they can make us better people and better servants of the King. I don't care much if people think they are great athletes, those kind of opinions aren't all that important, but I do care that people see them as good kids. Your words are more inspiring to me to continue in THAT pursuit and for them I thank you. I also thank the Grace players who fight us with all their energy on the court and have the class to stand up for their brothers in the Lord when it is over. Especially you Johnny, you are a good young man and I am pulling for you to light em up at Bryan!
