Good game except the final score. The fourth down fumble was a killer. Couldnt tell exactly what happend all i know is a white shirt took off like a bat out of (well you know) when I thought we were going to pick up the ball and score after two great defensive plays. This Maryville didnt seem to have the talent as in the past few years but they just do what they do and they do it well. Fundamentals are outstanding and they are very disciplined. Even when things go bad they seem to be in the right place to limit their mistakes to a minimum. One point Iwould like to make at the coaching difference is how in the world does that fake punt work at that point. GQ had went for it on fouth down all game when he had six and seven yards to go closer to midfield and its fourth and two close to our 35 and he runs out the punt team and you really think hes going to kick it. Anyway a little vent. Congrats to the rebs and it was good to see the crowd. Im looking forward to see how you guys do next year moving up in class. My guess youll be fine.

I believe ya brother! Rhea has the O but once again the 3-5-3 Defense will show its true colors. We let Cleveland put up 35 with a sub par offense by passing the ball (and I hate to say anything bad about that game because it was a great high school game to watch) and people think Maryville wont roll it up with an all state QB and Mr. Douglas? This one could get ugly real quick. And listen Rhea Co. I do believe we have coached the boys better the last two weeks but we have not executed especially on the D-side. I hope Im wrong and the boys pull one out. Good luck and see ya there

Yep your a coach. Im not hiding behind anything! Tell me what I said that isnt true. Why did you not answer any of my questions? Yes last year we won both games m4 but we were suppose to were we not? Central was the #3 seed we were #2 correct? Im not comparing any team to any team. What i said was (now listen) the mindset we should have. We walked into a game knowing we were going to win not hoping too back with Horton! Should we not think this way? If thats too much to expect I apologize. Our coaches were not playing to win Friday I dont care what anyone on hear says were playing not to loose! We were more scared to make a mistake than making a play! Let me tell you this theres alot more people in the stands wondering the same things as me. And as far as people being critical about our coaches thats part of it is it not?

Facts are facts boys call it what you will! Tell me in the past four years when we have won a big game? Sure we are going to beat Hixson-Walker-Central- well you get the point. And dont tell it doesnt matter when you use your timeouts in the first half. Confusion is why we used and that does matter. We had twelve men on the firled and other times ten. Looked like a circus and that my friend is a reflection of coaching. In the second half went for it on fourth and one and call time out when they jump off sides why? COLD FEET! Dont tell me Im not a fan but the difference is Im honest. MR. Legend sounds to me like you either are a coach or you are awful close to one. I understand getting on the coaches upsets some people but RC has to me anyway a higher standard than most schools and the coaches should be held accountable to that standard. And as far as all I do is RIP the coaches all I have said is the TRUTH and mostly its been about the 3-5-3 defense and if you think that works for us well sorry it doesnt and wont against a good team. And as for you Rhea Co. if a frog had wings well you know the rest. Making an arguement about if somethinig didnt happen is funny because guess what it did. And if Fitzgerald is such a great coach then why is the QB who was so much better than Mr. Wilson before the season riding the pine? Strong statement then! Why is one of your strongest players on the sidelines with a broke arm neddlessly? And mostly why has he been replaced once already? And the grandest illusion is we have been in the playoffs every year MR LEGEND like I said once you dont have to beat anyone to get in the playoffs. We could get in this year and all we have to do is beat Hixson Central Walker and White. Thats impressive. Combined record of what 5 and 50 or something. Please! Sorry I expect more from RC.

Embarassing is what it was! How in the world to you keep the ball the entire first half and still be behind 14 7 at the half. We ran all over RB in the first half and still cant keep the lead pathetic. Our coaches have to be the worst high school staff I have ever seen! We called all three timeouts in the first half within the first six or seven minutes unreal. Defense had no clue where to go in the first half thank god our offense kept the ball away from them. Talked with someone on the team and the scheme completely changed this week and they were confused in practice all week and it showed. Coaches were so scared of us making a mistake thye didn't let the boys play ball! No confidence what so ever! I guarentee RB walked in knowing thye were good enough to win and ready to do it. I believe our kids were ready but not our coaches. We will NEVER compete at the top level again until we get the same mindset we used to have when Horton was still around! Nobody is better than we are and lets play man on man and see who wins. That will not happen with the coaches we have now. We play just to be playing and we are out coached every time we have a big game. The only way we win is to play weaker teams. Rhea County will win 5 games every year just because of the talent level we have year in and year out. Somethings got to give. Like I said that was embarassing!!!!!!!

One other thing when dealing with speed is no matter how you were clocked or where or by whom we all know there is track speed and game speed and we will not see another team faster than Brainerd as far as game speed goes this year. Not only that they were on a mission when they came to town which is where we had better be come Firday. And yes Brainerd did out coach us well. Shocking I know! The entire team and coaching staff has to play and call our best game or we will not win. Hard to say that but thats what we have to do every time out. We do well in certain areas this week then in other areas next week and it seems not all areas come together on the same night. No chioce this week.

First off no team including RB is faster than Brainard. They may be as fast but not faster and they didnt run by anyone but they were more physical than we were. Loosing Chris really hurt and it showed against Central. We will struggle with the pass if we do not get pressure against the QB which is going to be hard with three lineman, Central showed us that. The passing game is coming around for us since the QB switch which is going to keep people honest ans if we run for over 200 yards again and have 0 and I mean ZERO turnovers then we will have a chance. Special teams are playing better than they have in awhile so that wil help. All in all should be a good game, should stay close and I can see it going either way. One thing to remember RB is undefeated for a reason. One other thing for the RC fans did anyone see J Swafford about run down the long pass play in the first quarter against Central? Why do we not us him as a receiver with his size and speed? AM I wrong about his speed? He looked a step ahead when he was in and looks like an athlete that doesnt need to be sitting. Dont get me wrong I think we made the correct decision by changing him at QB but he just looks like he needs to be playing somewhere. His size would help against the taller wide outs but they dont swap sides on D. Just my thoughts. What you guys think?

Fluff now thats funny. You want fluff I'll give it to ya. 3-5-3 is the dumbest defense I have ever seen and we've ran it for three years. This years team runs it better than the past two years because of the LB play. Secondary is not weak just out coached. Example Brainard game #6 for RC is what 5'10 maybe 5'11 he was against a receiver that had to be 6'3 or more all they had to do was throw it up and they DID. Only adjustment we made was in the second half when we went to a double safety to help him which opened the running lanes which they took control off. More fluff? The QB play is lacking everyone knows that and something has to give. The Swafford boy has a good arm he just looks scared out there and when he misses he over throws every time another fear factor to me his release is high trying to get rid of it! I thought at first it was mechanics but that can be fixed and in five games it hasnt. This team is a good team and has a better O line, no matter what stats you want to throw up, than in the past three years but it doesnt matter how good they are when nobody can hang on to the ball. More fluff? If RC had a coaching staff that knew how to call plays when it counted or make smart decisions how good could we be? Example we go on fourth and one on our side of the field in the third quarter but punt on fourth and one on McMinns side of the field down by seven! Make any since? Overtime we run behind Mac first and goal for seven yards and cant scor because on third and fourth we run away from his side? Make since? No fluff these are the facts. But with all that said nobody from the past can win games for this team and our players and coaches are who we are and that how we roll! We will be there at the years end and maybe just like the last three years we may not make it past round two of the playoffs but we're still Rhea County Dude so either get on or shut........ well up. And if your truly just a region fan watch somebody else we dont need YA.

First off we have an offense line this year that has not been there for the last two years. The defense is better this year than in the past two years simply because of the linebacker play is better. The coaches as well as turnovers lost the game against McMinn. McMinn is not a great team by any means but yes they were good but we should still have beaten them by 14 at least. Thats been the problem over the past two years we hurt ourselves. If we can get better play from the QB then things will roll I guarentee it. One POSITIVE from the QB is we havent thrown INTS like that Wilson BOY did every single game two and three times a game. Glad hes gone!! As far as Brainard the best team I've seen in a while but did you see where they were beat by Austin East Friday? Makes ya wonder. We just got out coached and didnt have the speed to catch them. As for the schedule thats the best thing that could have happened to RC. I never understood why you would want a powerhouse for your first game? Makes no since. I mean look at most of your college teams who schedule cupcakes to get ready for the real games. Somebody finally woke up. I will say this if there is a fumble in the GAME by Sharp or Roberts somebody needs their hind ends kicked because thats all they should be allowed to do this week is hold a football all day and night!! As for you m4rcut get your facts straight luck has nothing to do it Talent does. Now that we have a little it will show up before the years over write it down. The only close game I see left might be Red Bank til the playoffs.

Agree totally on this game. Still think Clevaland is overrated so its hard to gauge exactly how big the win was for Brainard agianst them. I am very impressed with the Rhea offense. I know the three teams we have played so far are weaker teams but I dont care who you are playing to be able to run the ball the way we have is very impressive. If the passinig games continues to improve as it has then Rhea will be hard to deal with the rest of the way. As for the defense the three middle linebackers are playing well as is the defnese as a whole. There is alot of talent on this team. Brainard will be a hard game for us because of the speed. Should be close and the winner should be guarenteed no less than second in the region for the playoffs.

Soddy will come to play and it should be a good game. We will have to throw ball against them or we will struggle. Our O line hasnt had any real competition so far and hasnt had to dig deep to get yards. That might change Friday night. As far as Brainard I agree totally they are gonna be tuff next week but I dont think you can gauge them by beating Cleveland. I mean Cleveland hasnt had much the pat two years so I dont understand how they were ranked in the top ten. Last weeks game showed that. You dont just turn around a program in one year. We'll find out where the eagles are Friday. Great start so far though.

CCHS will drop to either 4A or 3A next year. The state redistricts every 4 years the next being 2008. They used to do it every 2 but some genius changed it. Doesnt matter though the way the team is playing. The level of play doesnt drop that much from 5A to 3A. I am from Rhea County where football is #1 and have been in cumberland county for 14 years and I can tell ya the community could care less about football. Dont get me wrong the die hards do and always will but the county doesnt as a whole. Just look at some of the facilities at the elementary schools. Not only that the county will not help the pee wee league at all! No money and its a fight to find a place to play the games at. This is where you learn the game and develop players coming into high school. One other thing that I feel really hurts football is the number of elementary schools. When you have a team with a limited number of players the talent level goes down so your playing against weaker teams til you get into high school; then you realize your kinda behind. Dont get me wrong Im sure theres good football every Thursday but is it the same as playing outside the county against bigger schools and more talent? Just a thought. Either way if the community would get behind both schools with the number of players that are coming out support the younger kids, Pee Wee and elementary, things will change. May take some time but it can happen.

You could tell Swafford had the nerves going on last Friday and yes there were a few dropped passes but you could also tell he has a good arm. Just needs to get em down a little which to me indicates mechanics, which can be fixed. Cumberland was the best thing that could have happened to this team although you really cant take alot from the game as far as telling where this team is at because Cumberland really is that bad. They only scored 3 or 4 touchdowns all last year in varsity games and lost to Stone Mem. JV team. Our confidence should be up and I think that will get us the win Friday. DId anyone pay attention last week to the RB - Soddy game? Just seemed like 21 points from Soddy was a little much for RB to give up there. Looked good to me!!!

This was my first look of the year at the green and gold and I was disappointed. We didn't look as if we were as far along as some of the other teams at this point in the preseason. The offense is going to have to run the ball and it didnt look as if the coaches were going in that direction. Maybe we were trying to get swafford some experience. I think we should be ok on that side of the ball. The defense I'm concerned with. The 3 5 3 isnt going to work. I dont understand why we run it all were doing is putting our boys in bad situations and expect them to over come it. Maybe Im jumping the gun but weve ran it for the past two years and it hurts us. Anyhow any other thoughts so far this year and Go Eagles.

Was Hackler the QB for the freshman out of Dayton City a few years back? He played against Chatt. Central (varsity) when we got up on them and ran the option I think. I heard he was moved to WR and I never understood that. Anyway did anyone go to the Bradley scrimmage? Heard we dominated them. I would be excited except it was them. Also heard the heat took its toll on some of the players.

Red Bank I might agree may be tough to deal with again this year but Cleveland PLEASE!!!!!!!!! We've beat them the last two years with ease and I haven't seen anything that is going to change that this year. Did they recruit some kids? Are they onto the Maryville secret? Kidding! Do not see how you could say we cannot play with Cleveland.

I knew there was some home cooking with the coaching staff but like I said they all played and should have won. All you saw was silver helmets. There were at one time at least seven or eight on offense at the same time.

Im from Rhea county and was able to watch the owls the past two seasons and a good team they are. I also went to the TN/GA allstar game and I think there were 11 owls on the roster and as many as 8 in the game at one time if Im not mistaken. TN should have won the game the final 14-13 lost on a bad call and a missed EP. My point is how do you replace that much talent in one year? I might be a little concerned if I were an OWL. Just seems like it would be hard to reload that MUCH talent in one year. Hope Im wrong and the OWLS roll!

I hope everyones right About Rhea being the second best team. From what I've heard from spring practice things are still iffy. Do we have the linemen to run the ball this year because I'm afraid the Qb spot is going to be a struggle. And did anyone go to the scrimmage in Knoxville? If so did we use the 353 defense?
