  1. Good Luck to Coach Keith; his son and family will be in my prayers. I cannot imagine the stress that he has been under and his decision is understandable considering all the circumstances. Maybe his words today should make us all stop and think about what is going on in our world and pray for all these men and women serving our country. Thanks Sportiemom about the info from Elizabethton Coffee Company. I am sure that they have many patrons who are not from the "city" but rather the "county." Maybe we should take this quote into consideration. I for one will.
  2. I hope that all these guys, Highlanders and Bulldogs, can go out and have a great game tonight and walk off the field with their heads held high, and I sure hope none of the fans make this an embarrassing ballgame for them. Remember, this is the last high school football game 3 of these guys will play. Let's make it memorable; preferrably a good memory and not a bad one. Okay guys, play ball and have fun and remember in the end we are still neighbors and it is a GAME!
  3. Yes Pujo, there are some fine people in Roan Moutain, and I hate that a few people tend to give a whole town a bad name. My husband and son were at the Hampton/Trousdale game and had to stand on Trousdale's side because they got there so late. They were embarassed by the way some of the Roan Mountain folks acted as I am sure a lot were. A little respect goes a long way in life and harboring hard feelings will get you nowhere. Yes Cloudland is down this year. Maybe we had a year worse than some expected, but it is not a surprise that we were down. I, myself will be pulling for Hampton, Unaka, and Cosby. Not so sure about Grace Christian and I saw quite a bit of disrespect Friday night which really surprised me. Not from the players, but from the fans, but I will not get into that. For the local teams, go out and make Carter County proud and know that there are few of us close to the NC line that are pulling for you all the way (just maybe not Thursday night)- Who knows I may not even be at that one- A little bird just told me he was being blamed for losing the ballgame for Cloudland Friday night- Talk about disrespect. I watched the ballgame and the loss could not be blamed on one person! If I am not there Thursday night, I will be pulling for Hampton. (Guess you can tell I have a bee in my bonnet right now, huh!
  4. Hey HamptonGirl, Cloudland went 9-3 this year. Lost to Cherokee early in the season in a great game and lost to Hampton for the conference championship in a heartbreaking 21-18 game. They beat Midway in the first round and were hoping to meet Hampton again in the third round but had a disappointing loss to Coalfield in the second round after losing a key player to injury in the first few minutes of the game- that score 14-6. All in Roan Mountain are proud of the Landers and the great season they had. Pulling for Hampton tonight, but regardless of the outcome they have nothing to hang their heads about!
  5. CONGRATULATIONS BULLDOGS ON A HARD FOUGHT WIN. Way to go. We could not make it tonight but we will be there next week to support you! WAY TO GO BULLDOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Pujo, you are right; you are not the only one burnt out on the so-called king, or queen which ever the case may be. In my opinion he is a disgrace to the Cloudland Fans and only makes us look bad. As long as Hampton and Cloudland are not playing each other I will pull for both teams, of course if we are playing each other I guess you know where my heart is. I hope others on here realize that "The King" is not representative of all that sit in the stands on Friday night to cheer for the Highlanders. As far as I am concerned the real King of the Highlanders was honored at halftime Friday Night- Cobbie Marlowe. Now there is a TRUE HIGHLANDER FAN! Good Luck to both Carter County Teams Friday Night; You Make Us Proud!
  7. Well, I have sat here and watched this board as long as I can without posting. I for one am looking forward to the game tonight with great anticipation. But, I hope that we adults can act like adults and let these young men play this game with the respect that they deserve, and I mean on both sides. This is a ballgame and someone will win and someone will lose, but let these guys go away with their heads held high and not embarrassed by the way the fans acted. I hope that Cloudland will play their hearts out in order to come out with a win against Hampton and not Mike Lunsford. There may be hard feelings with some people but we need to put that behind us. We also need to remember that there are those of us who still call the Lunsfords friends and that has not changed and it hurts to get on here and see the things that are being said. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS TONIGHT. I HOPE YOU COME OUT FIGHTING AND END UP SHAKING HANDS WITH EVERY HEAD HELD HIGH KNOWING THAT YOU DID YOUR BEST.
