  1. I am sure glad we got our bye week over with! I am ready for a good stretch of football! After traveling to White County and watching FC, I was very impressed! I didn't see alot of jitters or rust, and the intensity was more prolonged than in games last year. However, in all due respect, Shelbyville is three times the team with three times the talent of White County. The key matchup will be FC's (generally) undersized OL and Sville's explosive and agrressive d-line. I think it is very important for FC to get off to the early lead, even going into the half. If we are losing early or late into this game, we would have to throw the ball alot, and we are not and have never been built for that. Although, I will give Jr. Jeremy Wooten some credit. He had some very nice passes last week, some 10-15 yards down the field. I will be traveling down will my usual caravan of fans with my "Rebel Army" helmet on . Lets hope FC is well rested and ready to play a talented team. Good luck to the Eagles, and FC fans, travel safely! Prediction: Rebels- 24 Eagles- 21
  2. Well, I am very pleased with the turnout of the game, and how the entire team played. T-Martin was running around, through, and literally over guys all night. My first comment on offense was, " Wow, really look very small on O-Line." I guess it worked out, as the running game was clearly dominant. Our D-line was great stopping runnings plays outside the tackles. They looked athletic and fast, but never got much inside force. Althought speaking of force, Senior Jonah Sells was a monster on defense all night. No doubt the passing game just looks 100% better this year. There wasa much better rhythm and some good throws were made my Wooten. Offensive MVP- T. Martin Defensive MVP- Jonah Sells Honorable Mention- Jim Prince [made a few great catches and special teams tackles]
  3. I appreciate all the help! I am bringing a 2 car caravan from FC and am excited about the trip. Two of the passengers are two girls from Russia who have never seen American football, should be fun! Tonight is the night to gather up the cowbell, army hat, and all the good stuff!
  4. I speak for many Rebel fans when I say, we are always the most underachieving team in southern middle Tennessee. There are time when we take much better teams to the wire, and other times when we get beat by bottom dwellers, at home, by double digits, with the same talent. I am hoping for better leadership this year inside the huddle and on the sidelines. We seem to be healthy, but not very deep in key spots. I have a feeling alot of intangibles will be tested within the first quarter of this game. Good luck to your Warriors. Also, I am one of the several making the drive. Is there any certain conession I should definately try or you suggest? And what are options for local food places for pre-game meal?
  5. I have never watched White Co. play, but many have predicted them to finish behind Warren Co. in their district. With that assumed, I will make my prediction: FC Rebels- 27 WC Warriors- 14 A big opening night for our offense, and lets hope to stay confident and healthy.
  6. I think this will be a very good game to start FC's 2nd season under their new coaches. It will be a good drive against a good team. Lets hope Terrance Martin and Co. can put up big numbers to start the year. How do you think this plays out?
  7. I'm not going to sit here and say that we shouldn't be hitting during practice; however, you can't go 100% lethal every single day. The "dog days" of summer can get tough, and many good fundamentals can be taught in a session without helmets having to fly. I also will say that if the majority of the team feel the same way, then the concerns should be shared with the coach staff. I would admire the players for wanting to work hard, but groaning for excuses sake isn't needed. FCHS has had a problem with excuses and bad leadership for the last several years, which has caused many underachieving teams. At some point these players have to commit to trusting this coach and his staff. Not one single player on this team has even been on a varsity team who has won 2 total playoff games. With that said, who are they to argue or try and dispute with a coach who has EARNED coaching awards and titles in 2 different states? Lets allow the man prove himself. He has been here one year, and trying to rebuild a young and recently unsuccessful program. I don't mean to come across rude or arrogant, just passionate and opinionated. I just hope that leaders will emerge from this team and decide to get to work. Let the coach do his job, which is to teach and develope these young student athletes. Hopefully they will allow their minds and goals to be molded by ambition and perseverance this season, instead of the usual excuses and poor attitudes which seem more "social". My general point is that these young men can decide what kind of season they want to have. The new district is young, and why can't it be FCHS to finish at the top? Instead of complaining about hitting or the lack thereof for one day, focus on the task that was given. Do it to the best of your ability and encourage your teammates instead of talking internally about the negatives a select few may feel. Lets focus on Discipline and Execution, not our Discontent and Excuses.
  8. I enjoyed when we beat you. You have to go to a THS game this year and sit on the home side for me I'll be at every FCHS game home and away, and must sit on the Rebel side. HOWEVER, on our off-week, I plan to go watch you guys in Cookeville. That game I can def. do that for you . If you come down for any games this year let me know!
  9. LC is also my pick to win it. The district in general is fairly young, but I see it this way at the end. Lincoln Columbia Tullahoma Franklin Co. Lawrence Co. Shelbyville But as always, I never count my rebels out. We havent played to our potential in several seasons. Maybe this is the year the young guys start a nice streak.
  10. A new stadium? As an FC Rebel I had fun wearing my hard hat last year, while sitting on the visitors side. Seriosuly though, its good to know that project will be complete. THS is a good school and football program. Walking into a stadium in that poor of shape was really a shock. I hope all turns out well, and for this year, win ALL your home games!
  11. I haven't seen this team play personally any this summer, but have mixed emotions. Although we did lose QB Shedd, I think we will actually be better off at QB this season. Maybe a better attitude and leadership will lead the team this year. [JR]Jeremy Wooten is the only returning Varsity QB, and likely will start. He is very mobile, but actually threw some great passes late last season. As mentioned, I believe we have the best RB in the district in [sR]Terrance Martin. I'm not so sure we will have any linemen to block for him. Offense and defense both will be incredibly young and may have to rely on speed and executing Coach Atkins offense. The problem is most of these kids are brought up for smash mouth ball, and may lack skill positions. For FC to have a winning season here are the keys: - Find some guys hungry to play ball. We need to see more intensity this year on the field, in the huddle, and especially on the sideline. - With Pruka gone, go bribe some soccer player to kick/punt. Also find 10 other guys who want to hit. It doesnt matter what class, size, or depth chart number. We need more emphasis on Special teams this season! ST is 1/3 of the game, and we can't lose that portion every time this year. - Bring the young guys up in the action. Im not a huge fan of 9 guys starting both sides. One example: --Last yr our QB also started at S/DB. He wasn't that dominant def. and he could have benefited from spending time on the sideline communicating with his receivers and coaches about the previous offensive series. With a roster that big, find a few kids eager to get in there and play. Too many clean jerseys at the end of games. Take advantage of good athletes, fresh legs, and our youth. - Lastly, get off to a good start. That first game at White Co. will not be easy. You can't simulate game speed, and we have to be the team who is controlling the tempo. Swarming to the ball on defense, forcing turnovers, making helmets crack! Giving Martin plenty of carries, find a way to implement play-action and some boot legs with a quick QB. Don't be afraid to give the kid Stachel some carries...tough between the tackles, with some good vision. The sideline IN THE GAME. Get off a knee, put your helmet on, and be ready to go to war with your team mates. We need intensity! If you weren't expecting an entire column, my apologies! I went to every game last year, will be there from White County to the playoffs, and am pumped for some FC football this season!
  12. I wanted to start this thread and hope to see some Rebel fans hanging around in the offseason. Any news on how things are looking and some things/dates to look forward to in the next few months?
  13. For what it's worth, I will have a full car of fans making 1.5 hour trip to Smyrna. I am hoping for good strong effot from my Rebels, but also try to be optimistic too. My Predicition goes: Smyrna- 28 FC- 7
  14. I wish I had an answer or even an idea. Maybe a better record would help, but I honestly dont know. Several years ago we started 4-0 or 6-0 I think, and still only above average crowd.
  15. The crowd was very small cold weather and Halloween didn't help. We (the crowd) were quiet all night, and so was the sideline IMO. The Rebels played good enough to win, and in the end thats all that matters. I am excited to be traveling next week and seeing some playoff football. Also congrats to Coach Atkins for his first full regular season dere, and I wish you and our entire team the best of luck and health leading up to big showdown this Friday night.
  16. So FCHS gets up 14-0 in the first 4-5 minutes, and I was feeling great about our chances. I had alot of respect for SC, but at that point it seemed FCHS was too big up front and too talented. HOWEVER...Those guys didn't once put their heads down, and I would have to give tons of credit to the leadership on that team, both sideline coaches and players on the field. By half time, we still had one point lead, we seemed almost deflated. 2nd half consisted of much better SC defense, and an eventual win for the Owls. Also I was suprised at how well you guys travel and how loud you were! Awesome amounts of passion from the opposing crowd AND the players/coaches on the field. I wish you guys the best of luck and hopefully long run in the playoffs! I was disappointed by the size and noise from the home crowd, but had a great time regardless. The only positives I can think of for FC: -Better OL play, still inconsistent, but at times had opened huge holes and were fast on edges for sweeps. tosses, ets. -Saw more improvement from young QB Wooten, and his WR made most of catches when the ball was thrown. -Has slowly improved offense over course of entire season, and now have one more game before preparing for a very large/talented school in playoffs I hope everyone enjoyed the game, and it was a good one to the very end!
  17. Do we have an awesome coach or what? I am bringing a coat, cowbell, and a strong yell to the game tonight. Hoping you guys from SC travel safely and have a great time in "our place" tonight. With conditions and two very good defenses, its going to be an old school, smash mouth football game played tonight. Should be a blast!
  18. I'll be returning to the coaching staff this week and eager to have the defense ready to go. Also, I predict a 14-10 FC victory. Better post coming tomorrow.
  19. Well, I am little aggravated I won't be attending this one. It is no doubt only FCHS game that I will miss, but hope the defense doesn't miss my coaching...from the bleachers /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> FCHS pulled out huge upset few years ago, and no reason they can't do the same this year. We really aren't allowed any turnovers tonight, and any takeaways MUST be touchdowns. Also any drives within their 20 MUST be touchdowns. FCHS will have to try and open the playbook some this week and take some chances against the always talented Cookeville squad. Good Luck to my Rebels, and hope everyone going travels safely! Prediction: Cookeville 42 FCHS- 7
  20. Idk if we could handle an offensive scheme that complex /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  21. Yeah he looked good, and offensive line had some HUGE holes for him too. Also thanks, maybe we can shock Cookeville like we did back in 2006.
  22. We will be with you, cheering the team every week through (now) the playoffs. I like the new attitude and discipline our new coaching staff is trying to install into these players. It was good to see some fire on the sidelines and players in that 2nd half comeback. Our Rebels showed some of their potential as a team for the rest of this season, and even the future. I really like seeing Wooten play QB and getting very good experience as a Soph. even if only throwing 7 or 8 passes. He lead the drive at the end of the 1st half, and contributed in only positive ways during the 2nd half. Terrance Martin ran for 200+ and scored a couple of TD's and really showed good Senior leadership coming out of the lockeroom. In a way I see it a good thing that we will have 2 full weeks to prepare for an extremely strong and well coached Cookeville squad; however, you would like to carry that 2nd half momentum into a week of practice and the next game. I am excited to see how these guys play Cookeville, and no doubt will be there and as loud as possible.
  23. If FC has another night of uninspired play, and turn the ball over 9 times, we will be run off the field just like last week. This team has played decent defense all year, and stopping CC stud RB should be priority number one. We also have to find a way to put up point on offense, no matter which individual is getting the ball and scoring the points. If one kid is averaging 5 yards a carry...give him the balll; however, if the same kid can't hold on to the ball or buy into team concept, find one that will. (I'm not taking a shot at any of our own backs, just making example). This team has to find a leader on that offense and follow his leadership. So, my point is, will the seniors and/or playmakers show up this week for FC and play as a team for 4 quarters?
  24. I have no doubt the Rebels will have the ability to be leading this game at the half; however, I am not sure if they can finish the effort for 4 quarters. This was the same result for Oakland and Lincoln Co. games. Maybe there is a different result this week.
  25. The Rebels will travel to Shelbyville and try to come away with their first road win of 2008. Both teams are coming off losses, and are looking for their second win of the season. Who wins, and why?
