once again i can agree with you there coach logan. so are you a coach, and if so where? if you dont want to give yourself up its ok. there are alot on here that dont want to. i can tell you this i would not have circled the "blue and black" in past years myself. i also agree with coaches big fan and hope we continue to get overlooked. we as coaches are to take care of getting the circles on the schedules. a great coaching staff at that. i guess its up to us just to keep doing what we are doing and earn our respect. thats the way it should be anyway. oh on that great coaching staff. we are pretty young but we know what it takes to win. the young guys have 20 years experiance combined while the old man has about 35 under his belt with several of those coming from the university of tennessee and ole miss. shelton

this is true coach logan. but without the services of a 2 starters against north greene and the lack of effort by the regions defensive player of the year. those games may and would have been different. i had 4 starters go out against north greene in the 4th quarter. we maded a turn around the next week against cloudland only being down by 14 starting the 4th quarter. we only lost one game after that the rest of the season. it came at hampton. we gave up just 9 points to them in the first half. we ended up losing by 20 something to the number 1 scoring offense in the state at the time. however your right til we do take care of those teams noone will give us any credit whatsoever. that the way i like it though. then again why should a team that went out and played some great football get any credit. we only won more games last season than in the past FIVE(5) years. missed playing in the second round of the playoffs by 1 point on a missed PAT with time expired. thats a big deal to us here on the hill but of course not to the rest of the state who dont even know we exsist, dont want us to exsist, or are imbaressed by lossing to what they see as a lousy cosby football program. thats just motivation. shelton

i wish!!!!! it will be here before you know it though. the heat. the sun beaming down, sweat rolling dow on your face as to get the players ready for war. preparing for the weekly battles were blood and sweat soak the ground beneath our feet. all for the reward of beating your opponent week in week out. man i love this game. august get here fast before i lose my mind. shelton

well its good to hear that you guys are working out getting ready for the next season. sounds like a good number of you to. is the right ones working though. you say some are waiting on the new coach. i dont think thats to smart. work wins and if you dont work you dont win. i hope the ones waiting are the 3rd and 4th string players. is coach kelly getting you guys ready. hope you hear something soon.

i agree with you spitback. i live here in cocke county and i am hearing very little. i do howerver think things are underway. i know that the plan was to name someone by the end of this month. i dont think thats going to happen. i also know that they have talked to some coaches but not sure if there have been any interviews. i do feel that the lake of information to the public on how things are goin is causing some people to wonder whats going on. it would help the community and even players to know how things are going.

well let me get in on this. first i want to thank you guys for your compliments. then again knowing you guys you may be just kissing up. lol i have to agree with you on somethings. cosby is making a move with the pigskin. the 06 season has promise. with 25 to 30 players working hard we could have a great season as long as the players give it all to the program and the coaches give it as well. eagle pride it good to have a fan on here we dont get alot of those in fav of the cosby eagles. shelton

yes as a matter of fact they are and as you can tell they have each others backs. coaches big fan is a big fan of ours. one a lot more than the rest of us but a big fan. big blue lbs is a great guy and coach, same goes for old eagle 24. they are 2 good freinds of mine and co workers. as for that asst. i know him very well to. he has made the right decision and has a very bright future ahead of him. shelton

first thing how old are you? are you going to school? how far to you want to go ( middle school, freshman, high school varsity)? what position can you coach? are you offensive or defensive minded? i played in college new i wanted to coach high school so majored in education. after graduating got head freahman coaching job and was asst. on varsirty. 2 years later went to be an asst at another school. i was an asst. there 2 years 3rd year there was named asst head coach and off. cordinator, 4th year def.cordinator. this past year i got the head coaching job. it takes alot of things to get into coaching. knowlege being no. 1. patients, willing to do whats asked of you, knowing the right people, patients, and then of course something being available.

is there any new info out there on the coaching job at cocke county. is there anyone on staff already wanting it. is there anyone on the old staff leaving or getting out of coaching. there has to be something going on there. i guess there taking there time so they can weigh all there options i guess. that is a good idea if thats the case. they need to get someone who has a good chance of turning the program around.

look here guys everyone thinks they have the answer. no mater what the program, or the level of play somebodys got the answer. till you have laced up the coaches shoes walked out on the field and blew that whistle you dont have a clue. if you are a coach like me and my staff comments stay in two places my office, and the locker room. i dont cuss my men but i affectively let them know what i expect and when i am not happy. those people that show up at practices and game night dont know jack 90% of the time. they dont have a clue whats going on in the classroom, lockeroom, and the field. they make comments based on biased opinions. or what they saw on the NFL network makeing them experts on the game. PF in my opinion has done a great job. there a young program. if i am correct them are only going into there 6th or 7th year. what do the people there want when your competing with GP, SEYMORE, SEVER CO, and possibly even KING's ACADAMY for the same players. as for the asst. coach that left. he came to work in my program. i tried to steal him away last year. i guess my point is this be open minded not everything you hear is truth.

not right where are you from. i supect your not from cocke county or you could answer that question yourself. there are alot of things around this town that are hush hush. that is one if the problems here. people make things hush hush so they can make desicions with out to much input from people they dont want involved. while i was in college we had a head coaching change. during that process every canidate had to sit thourgh a Q & A with the jr & sr players. the players were then given the opportunity to report to the AD and other commity members. final results Frankie DeBusk tusculum college head coach. think about it who are you hiring a coach for and what type of situation his he coming into. i would like to think that i am the type coach that crackatoa discribed. i took over a small program that was struggling. i was able to surround myself with a good staff that worked with each other and me. i also have to fight the same problems as cocke county. it not easy by any means and you never know what each season may bring you. again i say this cocke county has a great opportunity to look and search for a man that can hellp turn things around. i hope they get the right guy or it may be another rough go for the program.

ptsports writer do you think they will put a committe together. like they did the last time they hired a coach, or will it be just be the AD, and principle's recomendation to the board and superintendent. i think sometimes when you have a big committe you get to many ideas of what different people want. i feel like it should consist of the AD, principle, the board member from that distict, and 2 to 3 junior and or senior players.

you want to know hows fault it is. go look around. its the coaches, parents, administration , and communities fault. everyone is at fault because do your coaches go to coaching clinics to get new ideas and stratagies? coaches can make a differance. cosby has around 30 guys working out not including 6 on the basketball team for football. it can be done. i also agree with the fact that alot of athlets are not self-motivated. that is a struggle for coaches but you cant give up on it. i disagree that a good coach could not coach at cchs that is what they need and at the same time are you saying that the ones there are no good.

good point guest user i understand everything you have said. i am from around here and have seen the cchs athletic program pretty mush die. the athletic programs need some coaches that can reencarnate there programs. i think boys basketball may be doing that. wade wester is a friend of mine and he has the abillity to just do that and i hope he does. i dont know that much about evan's coaching style. i think baseball will struggle unless the kid with no experiance they hired surprises me. now the football program has the opportunity to go out and do the right thing and get a coach thats experianced and GIVE HIM CONTROL.

well i guess its my turn to get in on this. i have been reading your commints to see just where this is going. i'll start with the disipline factor. i have never been around or never seen where there has never been a disipline problem in any sports program. some may be major or small but there always there. especially this day and time, and in this county. cocke county vs. cosby WHO CARES!!!!! i'll tell you who care the the ones who are jealous of the team winning and the and the winning team who wants to prove there better,, whomever it is at the time. i would like to see both programs be sucssessful. as for which program will be better down the road who knows. all programs have years they struggle its called rebuilding. the reason cosby has had such a streak is that kids come to cosby to win because they win.. it's not an option to do anything else. if your right about cchs not wanting to lose thats good. that is what evans needs to do. he needs to instill that attitude that winning is the only option so that when they do lose it makes them hungry to get that next team on the court. you say cosby want have a team worth anything with no talent coming in. how do you know there is no talent coming. you did not mention edgmont ( blakley and dexter) parotsville ( rone) and the countless others from the past from those schools as well as del rio bridgeport ect. why does everyone think that you have to just go to schools in the cosby area to play here. noone wants to lose thats why they either work hard to win or quit. one thing about cosby the ones on the court and field here dont quit. winnings not always about talent, a persons will to win playes a big part in winning. as for who cosby plays come on. yes we play some teams that struggle so does everybody and they play some tough ones as well. cchs had 1200 students cosby 420. wow cchs should have more talent to pick from whats the problem there. come on guys it single A and AAA. when you look at the numbers bigger schools should win, but thats not always the case is it. cosby went and beat cherokkee does that mean they can beat greenville, science hill ect. who knows. has cchs lost to a smaller sschool than them have they beat a larger school. i dont know. ANY GIVEN NIGHT ANY GIVEN TEAM WINS OR LOSES!!!!!!!!!! its all about what your doing to WIN that matters.

well let see! i dont think there is a process out there that has to be followed. out of college i was offerd a job to coach at a high school as the freshman coach. i took it. the next year a new head coach was hired and i was pretty much demoted. i was an assistant for the freshman instead of the man running the program and was unpaid. i was then offed the head varsity job at my old high school. i had been coaching 2 years. i did not take it but did go as an asst. coach. the head coach left after 2 years and 3 wins. i applied for what i thought would be my first head coaching job. it was given to a guy who had just started coaching high school the pervious year there with us. i was promoted to asst head coach and off. cordinator, the next year i was the def. cordinator. after those 2 seasons and 2 win the head coach left. i applied and this time was my time. so with 6 years behind me i had what i wanted my shot to see what i could do. with the disapointment and excitment i had experianced i went to woork. here i was 29 years old head coach of the high school where i once lerked in the secondary and ran routes. i had some tallent and sucssess this past year and have my work cut out to cont. that sucssess.

from what i have heard they want to have someone hired by the end of the month. i have heard a few names. some of which i know of and others that i actually know personallly. one of which i know pretty well. however i have no idea what the administration or those invoved in the hiring process are looking for. like i said before and cchs2 stated was the restoration of program pride, tradition and change. some of you may be wondering thats this guy talking about. you have to restore the pride in the program. you do that by going back and finding something in the past that was exidence of pride or begining your own traditions with a fresh new start. one thing has to be established early and that is the coach has control of the program.

cocke co. does have some tallent out there and i wish them the best. any word on who the new head coach may be. does coach kelly want a shot at the job. what the administration looking for. is there anyone out there they want and may be trying to get. who ever gets it has there work cut out for them. they need to go in and as if they are starting a new program. make some changes around there in the sense of instilling some pride in the program and maybee start a new tradition of some sort. show everyone that there is going to be a new attitude inside the halls of the school and inside the stadium. win or lose there has to be signs of that or they will never rebound from where they are now. the players need to come together to help make that changes as well. a coach can only do so much. his job is to try and sell a product the players and the community have to be willing to buy into it. some people say thats hard to do these days and ther are right, but i have also seen it done. does the coaches still there have the team working out. well i guess thats my 2 cents worth. hope you guys there keep us intouch if anything develop there with a new head coach. good luck to you guys. thank you greendevilmom for that post. we do get some coverage at cosby and i am greatful for what we get. it would be nice however to get part of the player of the week show on saturdays for football. i dont think its fair for my players not to have the same opportunities as the cocke county players. speaking of which any news on who might be there new head football coach there. back to cosby basketball. they have the talent to do something this year. very deep coming of the bench which is always good. the key to there success will lie in the " play as a team consept." Blakely needs ( not saying he is not) to be the leader of those guys. he needs to have that step up tell it like it is get your head straight kind of leader. big things can come from this if they have that team play they can make the road to the boro run though cosby. i think that WLIK will be broadcasting the cosby vs harriman game on the 2nd. well lets get some sleep and happy thanksgiving everyone. dont forget that cosby football baby we are getting ready for next season as we speak. hey joeknows let me ask you this. you say i am helping my buddies. yes i did help out Hampton. you know why? THEY ASKED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they picked up the phone called me and asked if i could send them tape or info on Harriman. Harriman never called. if they had i would have helped them as well. i dont recall saying anything bad about region 2a teams if anything verything i said was positive. as for me and JC Campbell we have a freindship that goes way back something you KNOW nothing about. Before you start ASSUMING things maybe you should get to know who your talking to and about. We all know what happens when we ASSUME. So JOEKNOWS guess what you dont KNOW.
