  1. Congrats to the Smyrna players on putting together a good season despite the up and down comments from the soccer community.
  2. I think BigGExpress' comment points out one of the issues. At the high school football games that I have been to this year, there is usually identification of the school administrator during the opening announcements with the TSSAA anouncement of how fans should behave and respect that some of the calls during the game are judgement calls, etc. At most soccer games, we are lucky to get the playing of the national anthem; much less identification of a school administrator. My intent with this thread was not to get yaa-yaaing going about specific games. When you see someone you know getting over the line, just remind them that it is a game. I believe it to be more effective if a "calm down" comes from someone you know than a someone you don't. It can also help that individual modify their behavior over time.
  3. This may not be the place for a post like this, but I witnessed some behavior at a district game tonight that embarrassed me as a parent. I won't mention the game or the team because I have seen instances similar at several games this year. I am accustomed to seeing the boy's teams rooting their girl's team on, and some of the inappropriate comments made about opposing teams. I have even grown accustomed to those that feel that they can referee a game better from the stands than those on the field. Tonight I witnessed an adult female fan curse out an opposing keeper FROM THE SIDELINES at the end of the contest. She was wearing the school sweatshirt of the winning team. While I know that it takes all kinds to make the world go around, I think the responsible adults should say something to those that get out of control. I am thankful that I do not have a younger child that I have to explain those words or behavior to. It is not respectful of the players, fans, or the game. No excuses about the game. We were beaten by a more talented team. They could probably play 5 more times and the result would be the same. I do have a problem with behavior that borders on a personal attack of a 16,17, or 18 year old girl. Root for your team, celebrate when they win, cry when they lose, but keep it in perspective. Be the adult. Thanks for the opportunity to vent.
  4. Just to clarify, Cookville beat Blackman 3-1. Should be a good game. Most folks aren't allowing that this is played on the White County field. Smaller field can negate speed of both Cookville and Siegel. That's why they play'em rather than vote on 'em.
  5. I too, want to congratulate Smyrna on the victory over Beech. Will we ever get to the point in this soccer community that we can comment on Smyrna Soccer without digs or accolades about Coach D? Again, congrats on the victory and to Coach Shain.
  6. Amen. Cuddah, Wuddah, Shuddah
  7. Any one have place or schedule on these games? I believe that they are supposed to start on Saturday
  8. Siegel was up 3-0 at half. Cookville received red card in the box about 10 seconds in. Legit call, take-down from behind on Wynn. Did not see which girl received the card. Definitely took the wind out of the sails.
