  1. What teams are going where for football camps? What about combines? What can a team gain from going? You just don't hear a lot about it so I'm curious.
  2. I think DeKalb definately has a chance to pull off some upsets this year. These boys have not stopped working since the finish of last season. They played their last game on Friday night and met in the locker room and hit the weight room on Monday. These boys have heart. These boys are learning what it takes to be a team. These boys are learning and working together. Very few people know what these boys have been through together. They've had sand thrown in their eye more than once. I will say that since I'm not perosonally involved anymore, I'm not sure if they are being taught specifics about their positions, which is must, especially when you have kids playing that may not know the sport as well. But I can say the boys seem to have more spirit, more eagerness and muc less patience with those who want to knock them down\ and talk trash. Those, my friends, are good things. Hopefully the coaches have learned since being thrown in the midst of a mess last year, that you can't play the same 11 on both sides, start to finish. I hear they may have a kid that can pass this year and may have one or two that can catch. I've heard they have a Junior and Senior class that will be tough to stop. I've heard some good things so far. The community as a whole seems to be waiting with excitment. Someone sent me a link for their website with their schedule on it the other day. If I can find it I'll post it. Good luck Tigers - your Pride may be one of envy this year.
  3. I'd like to hear more about this.Especially since the entire coaching staff is presently made up of former players. Who could it be, who could it be?
  4. I don't think there's a human being out there who would not agree the region is tough. Everyone knows that. But tell me what could help them compete in that region? Why is it such a tough region? What do the other schools have that DeKalb does not have or could not get? As for your imformation vs. hair salon, you were the first to reply to this post. I see nothing wrong with attempting to gather information about a program you are interested in.
  5. Why Cody Finley and why Cheatam County? We could do some serious comparisons. How little do they have and how much are they doing?
  6. I didn't say anything about "getting rid of" anyone. Rumors are flying and I was putting it out here to see if anyone knew anything. Yes, those coaches were put in a tough situation. You say there was little talent, there's talent there and plenty of it. It has to be motivated and built on, molded, looked for, found and used. The same sports reports are printed almost every year. Jr pro goes undefeated or Saints go undefeated or have a great winning season, the headlines read the same "Just wait till they get to DCHS", "Finally talent coming to DCHS", and for some reason, the "talent" goes away. They dont' all quit. What happens?
  7. No one has resigned or been fired. There are openings for Math teachers and that is what he has applied for. As I stated, it's all rumored. With the season they had last year, not winning any games, the rumors are flying. That's why we were asking if anyone knew anything for sure.
  8. It's being told around town that a X coach from last year is applying for the position once again. Can anyone confirm this?
  9. Yelling, stomping, grunting, foaming at the mouth are all acceptable behavior. Cursing a player is never appropriate, never. Not that a player has the option of correcting a coach and still be on the team, but coaches need to know it's an unacceptable behavior.
  10. I'll have to disagree with you when you say he's the only senior that gave a crap about playing or the only senior with a heart. I won't get into what Chris did have but there were lots of seniors with heart. Lots of seniors wanted to win and worked hard last year. Lots of seniors had heart. With 15 seniors ending the season it should have been a blow out season but everyone knows why it wasn't. And where is Chris now with all his talent? Hunter is the one who walked on at Murfreesboro and has worked hard to earn a spot on the team. No one else has. I think your using "pathetic" to describe last years team is pathetic. What position did you play or should I be able to guess? LOL And as far as this years team having heart, when you have starters in the locker room dissing the program, that's not good for moral and when you have starters back talking coaches and not suffering for it or taking the summer off and being able to come back and start every game, shows some slacking in the program, wouldn't you say? That's NOT heart! There's more, there's lots more.
  11. DeKKKKKKKKKKalb. Do I care? NO! You are welcome.
  12. Hey there Titans... guess what. Most of DeKalbs starters are Freshman and Sophomores! Yep.. The roster printed on tennessean.com is incorrect. I found this out the first game when a bunch of parents were laughing at the program printed up. It lists Sophomores as jr.s jrs. as sr.s and is just all messed up. We only have 5 sr.s and only 3 of them play regularly. All this information comes from a parents of a jr. player. I'm sure you have read all the other posts about the trials of DC. OH and we don't have a 3rd string with 30 players. Thanks for your time.
  13. I don't know how this turned into a "wh" thread! Ya'll have a great team and experienced coaches. DC has 4 new coaches. A head coach that has never coached on the HS level, walked into a hornets nest with PO'd parents, no admin support, little community support, financial problems, little equipment, few players, even fewer with experience, and 3 asst. coahces that have never coached period, not to mention the health problems that have plagued these boys (now we find out) for months. He took over 3 weeks before the season with a bunch of boys whose chins and hearts were dragging the ground after yet another defeat on a personal level. I could go on and on withe he said she said bs that often goes with "coaching from the bleachers". But it doesn't do anyone any good. WH should be happy they have coaches with experience and heart! Coaches who see the need to build on their team for next year when the opportunity arrises. Coaches and staff who care about their players (what looks to be 100+ players!!!!) Until someone is willing to take over a program and do it themselves, the final decision should always be left up to the coaching staff. You want something to fuss about? I can recommend several programs you could go visit that don't have state titles, and concerned people. "the grass is always greener" --------------------------- yeah right.
  14. DCHS has lost 2 players. One to MRSA and another to a possible hernia. They have made some significant changes to their line up. Could prove to be a great game!
  15. DCHS has made some major changes this week.
  16. Hey old dad... seems I've been misimformed. State law not federal as far as I can see. Some schools will announce on Friday night that there is no smoking or tobacco use on school property due to federal law. I'm not finding it. (yes, I have access as well) I should have checked the validity before quoting. I can admit when I've made a mistake. I'll keep looking. One thing I do know for sure, younger boys (middle/jr. high) will and have started using tobacco, either chewing or dipping, because their coaches do. They think it's cool. They do a lot of other things they see their coaches do too because they think it's cool.
  17. Politically correct asside, this is a federal law. Federal law states no tobacco products carried or used on school property. And for your information, spit is nasty. Those boys walk through it all during the game. Spit is spit is spit. My pappy did well too, his pappy and his pappy did just as good but rules change all the time and mostly for the better. Now, if you don't mind, please name a rule that made to be broken.
  18. I disagree. A rule is made to be followed. Adults plainly not following the rules sets a very bad example for those boys. "Some rules are ok to break, you choose which ones you want to follow, the others are unimportant". Not a good message for young men. It happens at our school as well, most of the I suspect. TSSAA should pay better attention.
  19. there may not be a game at all from what I read.
