When is the last time Unicoi has had the mercy rule placed on them? Have they ever before? Unicoi was missing a key player but this program is no where near what it once was. I know talent runs in cycles but this program has dropped quickly. Now give Elizabethton credit, they played extremely well. Ch. Bowling is playing at a Division one level. The rest of the team is also playing at a high level. L Norris has proven you don't have to be 6 foot to be a good post. Elizabethton is by far the best team in the area. Everyone has said Science Hill would give the Cyclones a game but seeing their score with Greenville it doesn't look like it. Can't see anyone giving Elizabethton trouble until the state tournament except Elizabethton.

Not sure why you want to respond to doo bug. He has made his same statement over and over and over again. Your and my best bet is to ignore his dead horse posts. Doo, if you have something else to bring to the topic please do if not then we get your point. We are slow but we get it! Do agree with coachh and his rankings. Can't see anyone beating Elizabethton. Hampton, Unicoi, and Cloudland pretty close with Happy Valley a little better than Unaka and Johnson County.

How did the games at Happy Valley turn out today? Anyone have any information? Must have posted about the same time. What about the other Tri-County teams?

So you're trying to tell me Elizabethton gets all the good players in the county? I think Hampton, Cloudland, Unaka and Happy Valey might disagree. Have you seen them play? They have some pretty good players. Just think of what kind of team they would have if they did all go to one school. Coachh could even coach that team.

Buggie, if you are going to use my picks at least give me some credit. Are you only capable of picking the first place team? Do remember Unicoi gets all city and county kids as does Johnson County. Would like to know your opinion of the other place teams since you have such a strong opinion about the first place team. Do tell.

Good for basketball season to be here. Should be some exciting games this year. 1-Elizabethton Will be hard for anyone to knock them off this year 2-Unicoi County. pretty good just not good enough to beat Betsy 3- Hampton. Will challenge Devils for the second spot 4-Cloudland. Young but not bad 5- Unaka. Middle of the pack team 6- Happy Valley. Bad injury early. Should get better as year goes 7- Johnson County. New coach same results

How is Coach Ricker doing? I know you said not very well but would like to know his condition. Always respected his teams. You might not have liked him or the way he coached but one thing for sure his teams were always going to play hard and get after you. Very fun bunch to watch. I know he has been through a lot and was just wondering exactly how he was doing. Thanks for the information.

Nautilus Express plays in Division I. Two years ago they finished 9th in the nation. Last year they fell from the top 10 with an injury laden team. They return a boat load of talent. This team is comprised of the best available from Roanoke to Morristown. Including players from South Greene and MoWest. The DI scholarship list is 10 years long numbering 12. Plenty of DII also. I'll drop a few names...Natalie Pickwell, Dee Montgomery, Samantha Williams, Blaine Frolich, Whitney Moody...etc. Cara Bowling, you would look good on this team. But I understand that you want to stay within your comfort zone. Too bad when you go to college all that girlfriend stuff is over. Maybe you should step out now and see if you are all that. Anyway, good luck to you. Just in case you were wondering...the girls would welcome you. Comp, you were doing pretty good until you took a jab about staying in your comfort zone, girlfriend stuff, etc. Brag on your team, it looks like they deserve it but don't down play another team or player just because you feel yours is better. Cara and all the other girls will get all the exposure they need by playing through AAU state and national tournaments along with many exposure tournaments (showcase, etc.) through out the summer. Maybe you should contact Carter County Elite and set up some type of scrimmage. I'm sure they would be happy to match up and see if she's all that. And by the way her "girlfriends" can play pretty well also.

Cara Bowling plays on the Carter County Elite AAU basketball team. Made up of the best players in Carter County. They are ranked 8th in the nation in 16U Division II poll this week released by AAU.

Wonder if Coach Phipps would want it? He has been there with Coach Fisher the entire time and should be considered or should have the job if he wants it? He has always done a great job with the JV. Does anyone know if he is interested?

Why is it everytime someone like an older coach does some coaching people think the game has passed them by? Slow ball works if you don't have the athletes to go up and down the floor, if you don't have the depth to play many players or you don't have the shooting skills which would give the other team many chances to score themselves. Unicoi has a very good team but a team to run and gun, I would tend to agree with Coach Fisher. One of his advantages is the big kid on the inside. Go run and gun and you lose that. If they want to compete with the best teams then that is the way they should go. They are going to beat the weaker teams no matter what. Sometimes kids get tenative and it looks like the coach is trying to slow it down when in reality they want them to shoot more. Coach Fisher knows how to coach the game. Losing him would be a big loss to the program. I do believe the Jr. High coach you mentioned is his kin....

Good to hear from some of you Unicoi fans again. Been a quite year for some of you. Yes Unicoi is young and they have improved but I do agree they might have a hard time with South Greene. The pressure (again not sure about this year because I haven't seen them) they put on you is alot like Elizabethton's, maybe more a zone type, but still a lot of pressure and Unicoi didn't handle that all that well. As far as Coach Fisher leaving I would be surprised mainly since his granddaughter is playing and I'm sure he wouldn't want to leave her to someone new. The job would be a high profile job and I'm sure many would want to have it. A big name coach with a lot of success would probably be given the first consideration. Good luck Lady Devils. ms, surley your not stating that the mighty jc press might be wrong or blowing something out of proportion. Mr. Tester along with Mr. Fritz have never done anything like that. Maybe you should check your memory again. The press facts are facts. On the serious side congrats to the Lady Devils. Do you think they have anything for the Rebels? Haven't seen South Greene play but they did destory a not very good Happy Valley team that played the Lady Devils somewhat close. Let us know your insight and what they would have to do to pull what many would call a small upset.

Wondering where everyone has gone myself ET. Maybe everyone had just decided Elizabethton is that much better than everyone else and they either don't want to admit it or they are afraid to get Coachh started. The Cyclones have proven they are the top team and Unicoi is pretty far behind. Hampton must also be put down below after their showing against Elizabethton. Would be happy to hear from some of the other teams to let us know how things are going. Hampton seems to be the best in single A while like previous mentioned Unicoi, Happy Valley and Johnson County don't seem to be able to compete with the Cyclones. Anyone with insight on the Hampton/Elizabethton game? 19 points for Hampton, was it poor shooting, great defense or what was the main problem? Haven't heard much from the Unicoi faithful this year. Did get to watch them play. Maybe not as good as I thought they might be. Even though 1 game should not be a big indication on their ability. Post play didn't seem as good, offensively mostly. Guard play was decent but seem to lack some exposiveness. And what about Elizabethton, pretty darn good. A lot of weapons. Play with a lot of intensity. Should make a major run in the post season. Over all the play in the tri-county this year is probably a little down. Maybe that's why we're not getting much response.....

Agree with Coachh, things seem to be a little dead. Don't think the teams are as close this year as they have been in the past so some posters don't have much to say about their teams. The clear cut top two teams (Elizabethton and Unicoi) are much better than the rest of the field. Hampton might play them close but don't see them beating either one of the top teams. Going to have to change my number one team this week (sure coachh was waiting on someone to do this) to the Lady Cyclones. They are playing better than anyone in our area. Unicoi did get beat so that changes my rankings to: 1. Elizabethton 2. Unicoi 3. Hampton 4. Cloudland 5. Unaka 6. Happy Valley 7. Johnson County

Don't you just love it when coachh gets to talking about his Lady Cyclones...just wish he would get a little more excited!! They are pretty good though and will continue to get better. Not as sure about their depth as much as coach is, at least playing against a little better team than Sullivan East. The win over Tennesse High isn't as impressive today since they also lost to Science Hill last night, but still have a pretty decent team. Krich is right on his picks again and like I've posted before and still believe the top two are on a level by themselves with Hampton alone in the third spot with Cloudland (will be able to tell a little more about them after this Thursday and Friday) and Unaka pretty close but with some seperation between them and the bottom two Happy Valley and Johnson County. Elizabethton probably has the better team than Unicoi but until they meet or Unicoi turnsovers the ball they should be ranked above the dear Cyclones.... What about the game this Friday between the Cyclones and the Warriors? Does anyone think there is any "bad blood" between the two teams? Don't think it will be much of a game between the teams but could be interesting to watch what goes on elsewhere. Any thoughts from anyone???

Sparky, just trying to have a little fun at your expense. You have mentioned in your posts that some should not voice their opinions, you suggested stone keep out of EHS business, you suggested everyone just drop it with the Unaka situation, so in a way you have asked people not to voice their opinions and thoughts. If we all stated just facts instead of opinions then we could just read the newspaper (like they state facts only). I'll give you (unwillingly) that you did mention transferring to HV but not Unaka and I was just as guitly not to mention Cloudland. Of course can't think of many that would want that drive to Roan Mountain everyday. Again just having a little fun with you. Do like it better when you do throw out some of your "jokes". Don't just be a fact giver all the time, have some fun, cut loose, live a little and keep helping Coach Dugger (he may need it throughout this year).

See sparky even you get in on the nonsense every now and then. So be careful asking people not to voice their thoughts or opinions on different situations. Do you get paid finder's fee for any of these schools? Seems like you are giving an open inviation to anyone to go to Hampton or Elizabethton. Why did you leave out Happy Valley also, or even Unaka? Something against these schools? Are you saying kids should leave these schools to go to these others? Just some nonsense questions showing some nonsense ways some might read into what you are saying?

Krich, since this is a thread about transferring (mainly Cara), have you heard of any more transfers that might take place in the county. Since some people aren't very happy where they are thought we might have a couple of others to make the move? Have gotten some information on here about how Elizabethton did at camp with Cara, has anyone heard or seen how Happy Valley did at camp without her? Last question, has anyone heard or seen how the AAU team that was mentioned before has done or is doing now?
