  1. Well, they're supposed to start construction some time this month (on the building part anyway; they've already mutilated the soccer field!) and no, it's not going to be relocated. They're going to tear down parts of the school and build there while school is still going on. It's pretty crazy. Pretty soon they'll tear down the biology/physics wing... our classes have been moved to nearby portals. It'll take a few years to complete, so I won't be there to see the new one, but I'm pretty excited about it anyway. It's supposed to have a really awesome fine arts auditorium and solar power and wow, I don't even know what else. It'll be very cool.
  2. Yeah, it was definitely closer than the score indicated. Most of the game the Ads held Oak Ridge to 14-7 which made it into a real tight, nerve-wracking game! Farragut played pretty well tonight, I thought. There were some really good passes.
  3. Trust me. I know all the tubas in the OR band, and they are definitely neither pansy nor classless, so I don't think you'll find your man there. Now the chess club I might agree with. haha But anyway, good luck to both teams tonight!!! Er... but more luck to Oak Ridge.
  4. Alright!! Thanks a bunch. Let's see... about the game, I believe that both teams are really good and deserve to be this far. Ehh... it's hard to predict, but I think I'm gonna go with a slight Germantown win. They've just had so much more 5A play-off experience and they've been steadily fierce in recent years; although not as good this year, they are still dangerous. I would not be surprised at all to see Ridgeway get it though. You can tell they're passionate! Best of luck to both!
  5. "Yamba, try this one. If ridgeway wins from west and riverdale from east it could be billed as "THE REAL RHS" Crc: sounds intriguing. But as I am rooting for Oak Ridge, I think I like my dream championship round better. haha ...Oh, er, does anyone want to tell me how to quote? I'm afraid I am but a noob at this.
  6. Hey now! Tubists are more classy than that guy for sure. Now trumpeters on the other hand...

  8. I hope Ridgeway wins from the west and then Oak Ridge wins from the east so that we can have a battle of the ridges in the championship round! Haha, but well, good luck to everyone in this game. Should be quite exciting.
  9. Oh shush. Farragut doesn't deserve to be called Farragutless. They have played some good football this season (especially against Ooltewah). And if Oak Ridge gets arrogant and/or looks ahead to the Riverdale/Cookeville game, then they could get distracted and let Farragut win. Any team that makes it through to the third round of play-offs shouldn't be called 'gutless' especially by someone from a team that got beaten by a team that the 'gutless' one whupped up on-- twice! This should be a good game. Go Cats!!!!--- stay focused and you will do great things!
  10. I believe Clinton has about 1100 students currently enrolled.
  11. Many thoughts and much love from your neighboring county, Anderson, go out to you all.
  12. Yes, Morristown West was quite beastly this year... as they have been. Great job, Mo-West, you guys looked awesome. And also, congratulations to the Oak Ridge ladies!! 4th in the state after a disappointing 4th region finish last year. You were great.
  13. If you're talking to me, then wow, you got the wrong impression! Band is really important to me. In fact, marching season really aggravates me because it kind of does get in the way of band. It worsens my playing and takes away time that I could have to practice. I just think that the whole point of marching season, of the halftime show and the uniforms and all that, is to support the team. I don't think that marching band competitions and all that would've started and/or have been so popular if we didn't have to come and support/entertain at games. I mean, really, if you didn't have to play and march at football games, do you really think you'd be doing marching shows? I know our band wouldn't! A lot of money, time, and effort goes into marching season, and it's basically all about football. I just don't think it's right for a band to build up a show and then skip the game due to a marching competition because without the game of football, there really wouldn't even be really competitive marching competitions. Marching season IS basically all about the football.
  14. Yep, it happens sometimes that bands don't come, but it's pretty rare, and it's usually because of a band competition the next day. Sometimes what will happen is that bands bring a pep band, especially if they're far away from the game (for instance, I know for certain that Science Hill is just bringing a pep band to their next game). Or sometimes they'll leave after halftime if the game's not very close. Our band director lets some people go after halftime as well if they have the ACT's or the SAT's the next day. But yeah, I agree with you that bands should come to every game. I mean, the whole reason why they do marching band and have a show for competitions is because they have to support the football team, so that should be the number one priority. I think the ACT/SAT excuse is valid though.
  15. Warren Country, for sure. Those guys are smokin' this year, especially compared to last. Great job to them!
  16. First of all, I agree with ambiguous rock.... If you don't like topics about the band, skedaddle! I mean, cheerleading even has its own forum. Marching band doesn't. And also band spends so much time doing football crap when they could be preparing for concert season and actually playing music that it's ridiculous to barge in here saying you don't care. At least let the band have one or two threads! I would say that the Ooltewah band is very good this year. They have an awesome show called "Tales from the Crypt" or something similar. It was pretty cool, especially the part with the mellophones. If any Ooltewahs are reading this, well done! Also, Dobbyns-Bennett has an excellent band. I didn't like the show this year as much as some of the other ones, but the musicality is still very good and there are some cool parts in the show. Oh, and I'd like to disagree with some of the comments made about the Oak Ridge band. First of all, whoever said that Queen is not very well known among today's children is VERY wrong. No offense. But today's teenagers are starting to get back into old rock. I've seen Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Beatles, etc. shirts EVERYWHERE around my high school. These bands are cool again. Thank goodness. So Queen is very well known. Also, it's ridiculous to say that Oak Ridge has the best concert band in the state. They're good, no doubt, but simply not the best. Also, I don't think they'll ever be that good at marching band. That's just not where their focus is, as can be seen by the fact that they almost never do those fun shows. I mean, look at the last few years: Gershwin, Holsts' 'The Planets'? haha They definitely are a concert band, through and through. Just my take on things.
