  1. You're absolutely right-- a definite must read. That was an amazing story.
  2. Now that I can agree on! YES to Led Zeppelin. And yes to the Beatles and Queen and King Crimson and yes to Yes, haha. And you know, hey, my sister put on some Journey the other day and it wasn't half bad....
  3. Uh oh, DBGrad70, it seems your link isn't working. Dang, I really was curious about the origin of the DB fight song too.
  4. Oo, low blow. How's this one-- at least our football team GOT to finals. I say because I'm just teasing and I'm really not trying to start something. Smyrna has an excellent lady's b-ball team. Heck, I don't usually mind if anyone insults Oak Ridge or anybody else I'm rooting for, but to do so on a congratulations thread seems pretty rude. It's like showing up to someone's party and telling them all their downfalls. If this thread was entitled something like 'Smyrna vs. Oak Ridge' or 'Oakridge is the Best!!1!', that's different. Insult away.
  5. Very true. But if they kept in region 3, they could still schedule some region 2 games which would let them see some good football. But they might win more in region 3, which would build confidence and perhaps give them a better shot at at least getting to the first round of play-offs, if that's their goal.

    Whoa

Haha, okay. Thanks! Good to know. Strange typo though: 43-34 as compared to 197-26 ...that's not even close!

    Whoa

I was browsing some of the men's basketball teams' schedules and I came upon Ravenwood's: http://www.coacht.com/inside/schedule.cfm?...D=3&SeasonID=47 Look at the Beech game on the 10th. The final score was 197-26?! Is that a typo? Or how does that happen? Sorry if there's already been a thread made on this. I couldn't find one and I was just very amazed. Almost seems like a case of Trousdale Co. vs. Red Boiling Springs for basketball, eh? (Not that I want to start up THAT debate again. ) 197! Can't say that I've ever seen that kind of score before.
  8. If the quality of all four is excellent, then I would say probably marching band. Drum and bugle corps are pretty fun to watch, but since I play clarinet I gotta go with marching band. Of course, I love the sound of an oboe, so concert band's pretty cool too. That's why I loved Farragut's show this season-- they used an oboe for one of the solos!! At least until it got cold.
  9. Well, I have a question about moving up for Clinton. I don't really think it's an option since their numbers are pretty low (although they don't have many more people than Ravenwood). But if they did, would they continue to be in Region 3? Also, why are they in Region 3? This seems pretty strange to me since Clinton High School's only 20 minutes or so from Oak Ridge High School. But maybe 4A is split up differently than 5A? So, if Clinton did move up to class 5A, if they'd be in Region 2, there is no way they'd make it out of the region unless Shattuck can start turning around the program. Maybe there's a chance in Region 3, however. I mean, I know Region 3 has Cookeville, but other than that, aren't they pretty weak? So I guess if there's any talk of moving them up, keeping them in Region 3 would probably get them better results than Region 2 as far as making play-offs anyway.
  10. Well, this won't turn into a huge rivalry since they'll more than likely not play each other very much, but I can tell you that whenever Ravenwood and Oak Ridge next pair up, it's going to be for blood!
  11. Nowhere does it say how he died. I just hope that it was not painful. I'm sorry to all those mourning. May your grief be alleviated this holiday season by memories of joy and loving time with your family and friends.
  12. Haha, wow. Not only did you manage to insult Oak Ridge several times, but also Cookeville, William Blount, Marietta, Oliver Springs, Campbell County, Powell, Knoxville West, Clinton, Knoxville Halls, Bradley Central, and the USA today. All in one post. You must be proud.
  13. Ah, fellow band followers, finally we have it! A board of our own. So, let's start with the question of all time: Which do you like better, concert band or marching band? Ah, for me, it's a toss-up. Marching band's definitely more fun because you get to be with your friends and sweat and goof off (er, sometimes. ). Plus, it was always fun before competitions leading my little clarinet circle in tuning and pre-comp. pep talks and all. But I do like the focus and musicality of concert band. Let's face it, marching band definitely doesn't have that hard of music so it's cool to kind of settle in and sight-read hard stuff. I love to sight read! Plus, sometimes you hit that groove where everybody's playing well and in tune and it's gorgeous. By the way, thank you, Coacht, for lettin' us have this board!
  14. *sigh* Look what this thread has come to. Can we not just either congratulate a hard-working team or move on?
  15. Band members get involved in football. Band members go online, check their team's records, stats, etc. They stumble upon CoachT and sign up. That paragraph above is not unrealistic at all. I know. And for people who say it's not a sport: Marching band is a team that has to move as one. If one person screws up, it affects the whole team. Members have to adjust to one another. They have to be coordinated. They have to focus on several things at once. They have to get out on a football field and play, rain or shine. I'm not exactly saying marching band's a sport. But in my opinion, if you're gonna call hunting, fishing, and bowling sports, then marching band should be a sport as well. I would definitely check out a band forum if one should appear on this site. By the way, LCborn, I know a lot of schools that don't have bands play at basketball games. Sad fact of life: football gets more attention than basketball. Although, now that I think of it, wouldn't it be pretty distracting to have a band play in such a closed in space as a basketball court? I've watched b-ball games on TV and even the cheerleaders I want to shut up because it seems as though they're distracting the players when they're trying to have a time-out discussion.
  16. Wow, so I've seen three different spellings for Ms. Thompson: Regan, Raegan, Reagan.... Which is it?? I'd hate to keep spelling her name wrong.
  17. Well... true. You're right in the sense I would be 'knocking them' off the #3 spot on my list if I were to make one. But it's one thing to just mention that you feel a school shouldn't perhaps be #3 and another thing to go on a thread meant to congratulate them for making national rankings (something I would think everyone in the state would be glad about just 'cause it's in TN) and say stuff like 'They'll never make it out of the region.' and 'they're not that good'. But I in no means was trying to degrade Heritage in that statement. Sorry if it seemed that way. I mean, really, there should be a thread on here congratulating them. #3 in the South-- wow! That's impressive. They're a very good team.
  18. Whoa. How does that happen?! He HAS to be breaking a few laws of physics there.
  19. ...Good way to ruin a congratulations thread. Well, maybe we're not 10th in the South. In fact, we're probably not. Tradition and Prudden probably had some part to play with getting Oak Ridge on that list.... But still, I don't think Heritage should be third, and you don't see me knockin' them down. Well, we shall see how this year turns out! Perhaps Oak Ridge will prove you wrong and make it out of the region.
  20. Oak Ridge has a public, not private, school system. Also, perhaps that person is thinking of Raegan Thompson, who moved here from somewhere.... I'm not sure where though.
  21. Yes, I agree completely! And heck, why not support local teams even if they're in the same class? I mean, I would love to see Clinton win a game soon! Go Dragons.
  22. Please just let's move on. Everyone could spend days arguing about this game and these teams. But as the quote said, those 48 minutes are over. The game is over. Those teams are over. The seniors' high school football journey is over. I'll miss football season so much; being a senior is really hard in that regard. But there are plenty of good things ahead this season. That's why you'll find me on the basketball forums cheering on our Lady Cats and boy's basketball team. Hmmm... too bad there's not a band/orchestra forum. Senior clinic's coming up and I wanna cheer them on too!

    South Panola

I too watched... well, at least part of the game. Is it just me or is high school football funner to watch than college football? I personally think it's more exciting. But anyway, there is no doubt about how dominant South Panola was in that game. They definitely deserve that national recognition they get. I did like that last touchdown by Meridian though. Good play!
