  1. Will Rock Hill and their head coach that has such "outstanding ethics" be at the tournament? I am fairly educated on NC wrestling (best teams Parkland, Carey, etc) but how does South Carolina wrestling compare to TN. I know that Father Ryan has in past years whipped up on Eastside from SC at the Kyle Maynard duals, but I am ignorant on how they do in their own state, CBG can you elaborate on how good historically South Carolina wrestling is? That is if you can get out of the pool at that retirement center down in south Florida, you old geezer.
  2. Anyone that knows anything about quality wrestling in TN, knows the infallibility of this equation. Just look at the guys who did well at this year's state tourney, most have put in the hours out on the AAU track during the spring and summer while, most their other counterparts are sitting on the sofa eating potato chips. So my advice to any wrestler that did not meet their own personal goal this year (whatever it was) is to not make excuses for not making your goal and get on the USA and AAU wrestling circuits this offseason and you will see drastic improvement in your performance next year, supplemented by a surge in confidence (when you wrestle so and so who was a 2 timer from whatever state at a national tourney, wrestling little John Smith, the kid that beat you at state, the next year will seem much easier). When does the USA and AAU circuits start up?
  3. Is Maxwell going 112 again next year.....he looked like a huge 112 when I saw him at the finals at Ryan?
  4. Well i am sure Mr. Allen has bigger balls then you, but seriously you have no idea what Mr. Allen's weight lifting program is or the countless hours I am sure he puts in at the gym. I myself was the victim of this sort of trash in high school (everytime I would go into a gym for a tourney, ah that kid is real big....he must juice it, no not at all).
  5. Wow really I can't believe Allen Jones cheaped out of streaming the finals, hey thats okay he has made a whole career off cheating lower income people of their income............Yeah your approved....pretty much a legal criminal.
  6. I see someone did not get the call they wanted, what happened?
  7. Calebsdad, you are skewing the stats to try to support your point, yes I am sure D-I schools won a majority of the matches against what are now D-II schools but what you are not also looking at is who are the placers /medalists I sure bet in the 1996 tournament there were a lot of Father Ryan, Baylor, McCallie guys that were up there in the top 6 in each weight classes.
  8. Topdog your the lowest of the bottom feeders, you come on here and just completely bash these kids in D-II and what they work for, I hope you feel big. It is my opinion that it is harder to place 6 to 4 in D-I, but the top 3 in each division are always around the same caliber. I would try to argue my points further but there is not point your not on here for the right reasons. And as for my "D-II education" it is my belief you can get a great education wherever you go as long as you put in the hard work (just look at Travis Creagan and Justin Spain from Bradley) but anyway it is trash like you that waste my tax dollars when it comes to education. You know what they say you can't fix stupid, so I guess your just screwed for life
  9. Come on CC, I am trying to give you that fight you were looking for, but seriously my issue is obviously not with the kids, coaches, or schools in D-I but the posters on this board like Pummelking who DO actually take cheap shots at D-II by demeaning their accomplishments (just look at the thread he started about the D-II brackets). And really, if you can't address my ideas but have to "correct" my grammar in your post then obviously you can't counter my ideas, please try to persuade me to your side, but you can't do that if you don't offer any ideas of your own (sounds to me like a democrat). BCB maybe I need to post more of these drastic posts to get you outta the "cave" it was nice to see you still have a pulse, but I will say a few Hail Marys in my morning prayers for your son and all Irish wrestlers, GOOD LUCK TO ALL (yes even D-I guys)
  10. Okay I'll bite. According to the TSSAA website your so called "REAL DIVISION" aka JV has 2 brackets with a full field of 16 (with no qualifying) while the mans division has 14 brackets with a full field of 32 each. Now I can honestly say that I never attended a school that allows schola...uh financial assistance but for arguments sake lets assume that they teach math, although its obvious they don't teach keyboarding with spell check, therefore all on here would know 32 > 16 and how many ever public schools that offer wrestling > 18 aka the number of D-II schools that offer wrestling. On top of that 84% of the D-II finalists are from 4 schools 1. 103 1. 160 and 1. 285 are from somewhere other than CBHS, FR, Bay or Mc. In the mans division there are 17 different schools represented in the finals and they had to qualify last weekend at the region tournament. Any one with any knowledge of sports can see the difference in difficulty in seeding these 2 very different tournaments. In conclusion, while I suspect that this thread is just another fishing expedition, numbers don't lie. bcb I hope you don't mind my usage of some of your patented phrases. Are you kidding me? Stop trying to say that D-I is soooooo great, just because you have to qualify to get there, and you beat some really crappy kid to get to state doesnt mean your any good because you beat some kid that isnt worth the light of day. So wow I am so impressed 17 whole schools huh??? Wow I prefer the D-II teams that supposedly arent any good that are........just ranked number 2 (FR), 3 (CBHS) and 4 (CBHS) in the state. Thats okay Pummelking prefers D-I........but like you say the numbers don't lie. And seeding for this tourney, dont give me that garbage I am so delighted the seeds worked so well this year, D-I is so weak this year, thats okay though D-II will continue to carry the mantle this year like they do year after year for TN, cause heck we all know that the supposed #1 team in the state will not only not wrestle anyone thats any good out of state, heck they won't even wrestle the best in their own state, which tells you all you need to know about them
  11. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  12. This year the state tournament in D-I is terrible. The seeds are waaaaayyyyy off, the top seeds are obviously not at par with what their rankings are thus the many upsets that have occurred. Why is D-I not as consistent as their counterparts, in D-II, why because they dont wrestle the competiition as their private school counter parts have to in the earlier of the season. CATCH UP TO THE REAL DIVISION.
  13. I AM WRONG AGAIN. I JUST TALKED TO ERNEST. HE GRADUATED IN 1960. HE SAID HE LOST BY ONE POINT IN THE FINALS OF WHAT THEY CALLED THE STATE TOURNAMENT BACK THEN. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION. I WILL TRY TO GET MY DUCKS-IN-A-ROW BEFORE I MAKE A BOLD STATEMENT FROM NOW ON. THE ANIMAL No worries Animal your posts are a staple here on coacht, I enjoy the knowledge and history of the sport that you post on the forum.
  14. I think Maxwell would have a better shot if he was more aggressive offensively, and less defensive from neutral. From what I heard from a buddy of mine up in K-ville, he wasn't all to impressive in the region II finals. If Maxwell wins (which he obviously can) it would be a big accomplishment for 865 wrestling.
  15. Jeez Tex, is that post supposed to be a punchline for a joke, because if it is you my friend have a future in comedy......but the D-II team will be: 103- Akers (FR) 112- Moseley (FR) 119- Watson (BAY) 125- Manly (BAY) 130- Baucke (CBHS) 135- Johnson (CBHS) 140- Doster (BAY) 145- Agnew (FR) 152- Duncan (McC) 160- Todd (MBA) 171- Wesley (FR) 189- Ferguson (BAY) 215- Fisher (FR) 285- Mackey (BAY) D-II wins 103, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 152, 160, 171 So there you have it.....
  16. Alright CC, I will start a fight......I GUARANTEE (even without knowing the winners of the weightclasses in both divisions) that the D-II winners would easily win a dual match against their D-I counterparts, details of course to come after we know the winners!
  17. There are some great wrestlers in DII, but I think you undersell the number. You saw Duncan drop a close match to Daniel Todd, that is likely the best 160 lb (next weight class up) in the state. Having seen Aguilar (coached against him this summer), I would say that he is more physical than Duncan, but TJ is a much more skilled wrestler. Nothing meant to devalue either of these guys--would love to coach either, anytime! Todd or TJ against Aguilar would be a great match. TJ had a good match a few weeks ago with a nationally ranked wrestler (ranked #7) in Jason Luster at 152 lbs. Can you give me similar results with a nationally ranked guy for Aguilar? Why do you think Aguilar would beat TJ? When was this match and what was the final score (and if you could, could you give a synopsis of the match)? Thanks
  18. Ok Pummelking, your right......the potential D-II state champs this year might as well not even show up to Frank town this weekend, because their championship simply won't matter. But anyone that knows anyhting about TN wrestling know that the top 3 or 4 in each division are about the same caliber. Great Thread Pummelking
  19. Great points CBG, part of the job of a TN high school wrestling coach is to get his guys to the best tournaments, so they can face the best competition. It can not be disputed that the upper tier teams in D-II (Father Ryan, Baylor, CBHS, McCallie) do this, but even though D-I guys may have to wrestle more locally in season (do to budget restraints or whatever it may be) their coaches are not in control of the number and quality of matches they are able to get in the offseason (which is why guys like Cameron Croy and Blake Thomas are as successful as they are). Coach Knepper, NHSCA Sophmore National Tournament is a good national tourney, with good competition, it is not comparable with NHSCA Jr. or Sr. tourneys, or Fargo, where more often than not the brackets are loaded with 64 + wrestlers, not to take anything away from Kennedy, but this tournament is simply not as loaded as the other ones. Perhaps he will win the Jr. form of the tourney next year (which would be great for TN, I think Kelly Felix won Jr. nationals his year) GHouse, is Mr. Bauke not undefeated, if not where was this loss at and who to (obviously a stud)?
  20. How much stock should also be put into the NHSCA Senior Nationals?
  21. Which southern state in y'all's opinion is has the best wrestling (i.e. depth of good wrestlers also included) and where does TN stack up?
  22. You must be an middle TN ref. Thanks Nope, but I guess that's better than being called a West Tn ref. Hahahahaha bout right
  23. Well like my daddy always told me opinions are like ####holes everyones got one, but from the looks of it yours doesn't matter much, post when you have something to post about and not just singling out a kid........if you want to though you can help me bash Bradley like I did last week...........JK
