It is a tie for the district championship and there will be a coin toss Tuesday evening to determine the number 1 and number 2 seeds!

WOW!!!!!!! What a game!!!! Awesome job to both the Cats and the Bees. 10 on Upperman flat shot the ball lights out! Without him, they were in trouble tonight. I think the game was much closer than it should have been. Not saying one way or another but facts are that in both halves the foul count at one time or another was at least 7 to 1, 8 to 1, and then at the end of the second half the refs finally started calling some fouls on black....it was bad for the first 32 minutes though, not saying that LA wasnt a little foul happy, but not 8 to 1 foul happy in both halves. Dunn got 2 of THE cheapest charges I have ever seen in my life tonight. First one, the guy moved in under him after Chase was already in the air, terrible call, and then the one at the end of the 4th quarter was terrible as well. Coach McWilliams got a couple of those, excellent job on his part though. Overall, excellent game!!!!! District and Regional Championships could be the best basketball in the state this year!!!!

From what I understand the games are as follows: Pickett Co. vs. Jackson Co. Tuesday night at 6 pm RBS vs Monterey Tuesday at 8 pm Clarkrange and Clay County get the buy. I think it depends on tonights game (CCHS vs. Clarkrange) to see who gets the number 1 and who gets the number 2 but should end up like this. #1 vs winner of the RBS/Monterey game #2 vs. winner of the PC/JC game Good luck to all teams in D7a Tourney!

I don't know about the players getting in trouble if they get a T or not, I know that in the past few years there have been players that got several T's and don't recall them being overly punished, or have not heard if they were? Who knows.. I think they can win the first round game but they have to come ready to play like they do OCCASSIONALLY. Yes, we have given several games away this year, our boys have to figure out a way to pull those wins. Confidence has a lot to do with it too, but they can be told a million times over, but they are the ones that have to go out and hit the free throws, pull those rebounds that define the game with less than 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter (that have been missed in our close games), and take care of the ball and cut out senseless turnovers. They have to do that. Alot of that comes with playing, which means that if they really want to succeed next year and beyond they need to be playing as much as possible over the summer. Coach Bibb will get them much improved by next year, and we do have a lot of talent upcoming, but I am not ready to give up on this season yet. I would love to see them pull the upset in the first round and hush the crowd...give everyone something to really look forward to to start next year. That is what I am holding out hope for. It has definitely been a long time, maybe never who knows? Our guys are definitely finding ways to give them away by making poor mistakes, mistakes that are rare at the high school level. They can clean it up and make a serious run at Clarkrange or Jackson County, but they have to play 40 minutes of tough basketball and they must each, individually, work their butts off and demand a win in the D7A first round game. They can do it.....but will they? Only they can decide that, not me, you, or anyone else...Coach Bibb can tell them what they need to do all day and show them but until they decide to do it...well..

Pickett Co. drops another close one tonight. This one by four in overtime to Monterey at PC. Monterey got the breaks and played an overall good game tonight. PC missed some oppurtunities (foul shots, turnovers with no pressure late in the fourth). Really shot ourselves in the foot in this one but played alright, just have to close the deal. There have been several chances at that this year, but now we MUST take care of business this week...whether it be Clarkrange or Jackson County, these boys need to keep their heads up and make noise during the big money time of the year!!!! Let's go boys, pull out some big wins in Tourney time!!!!!

Not sure exactly how the game last night at VB went down but I know that Pickett County lost by one on a last second shot or something like that from what I hear...I do not know if they played well, bad, or what just heard they lost by one. On the other hand, at RBS the other night...that was a miserable performance all around. No one really played well, I mean the freshman did alright but that was long after it mattered. These starters have to get their heads up and decide their own fate. With one game left in the district (monterey) a win is a MUST heading into tourney time..A win against Monterey would tie us, RBS, and Monterey for 4th in the district I THINK! This is a must win so we can hope to win some sort of coin toss and not have to be the #6 seed and play Clarkrange, JC, or CC depending on how all that shakes out (which depends on whether JC beats Celina Tues. night). At least if we beat Monterey there is a chance that we might get to play RBS or Monterey for a Region birth and NOT one of the other 3 teams, but like someone said earlier I believe if they play like they did at RBS it will not matter. Boys, get your heads up and play ball for the rest of this season and make the best out of what we have, and maybe we can get some valuable experience for the years to come. Best of luck to District 7a from here on out...Especially PC!!

Wow....that is definitely an interesting point of view..looks like someone needs to go back and rewatch the tape of that game. Those two instances with Dowdy, and the one at the end were definitely fouls, and the only person that did not see them had to be a blind man. That is a ridiculous post!!! At any rate, PC did not win this game, the refs did not give JC the game! Did it hurt us (PC) that they did not call those fouls?? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!! But we had our chances and did not capitalize. 14 missed free throws will cost you any game within 5-10 points, but as someone said earlier PC will be ready by tourney time. Only problem is IF we can get by first round we will get Celina.........Would sure be a good time for an upset but we will need flawless basketball!!!!

They aren't playing in the right order??? According to....who?? You? Like I said earlier, that is just another opinion of yours which...guess what...means nothing! Did you go to all the Summer games??? Have you been to all the games so far in the preseason and season? If not, who are you to be giving your opinion on who should be playing. My opinion is probably much different from yours but guess what I am not the coach...and neither are you (thank goodness because I can already tell that it would not work out)... When you become the COACH of the team, attend all the practices, all the games (summer, preseason, season, christmas tournaments, jv, etc) then your opinion will be the one that everyone listens to, but since I do not see that happening for quite some time (hopefully never), your opinion will be just that....AN OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND by the way bashing Coach Bibb is not really the way to get your opinion through. Funny thing about the "True" fans like you, but when the going gets tough...blame the coach right? No one complained when he was winning hundred plus games in the past several years, but now jump ship......True Fan!

catchpc10......are you serious????? Must just not like Coach Bibb? Sounds as close to a stupid comment as I have heard in a long time on these boards.....probably about the last time you posted if I was guessing would have been the last comment that was this stupid. Now back to the thread. PC is young, and did not shoot free throws very well against JC or they would have won, but lets remember they were picked last and was not supposed to be in the game with JC or Clarkrange, but someone as incompetent as you would not be expected to know that. As for the comment on who YOU think should play now and who should be subbed in first and on and on....well that is the reason that you are not the coach, and Coach Bibb is. There is definite talent in the freshman class, and watching as many ball games as I have in past several years I would say they are now playing in the order they should be playing in, regardless of what someone like you (who has neither the competence or knowledge of the game) thinks. You need to remember that these are high school kids, and you bashing them does not help anyone, so here is some advice! GROW UP for goodness sakes!!!!!!! Attacking a freshman, or any other high school student must make you feel so great...... I have an idea for you.....how about you go back into your two years of silence because what you said in one post was enough to seal about everyone's opinion of you (really dumb) FOREVER!!!! Please, let the Coacht public not have to read another stupid comment from someone who has to get their self confidence by attacking high school students! AGAIN GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. It is good to see that you can read the program handed out at the game to see that the Ferrell kid is 5'6" though. At least you can read.....that is a plus!!!!!! I also agree with the last guy who said that people should stay off of the coach's backs. These coaches are good...I mean they have had some of the best teams in the district for quite a while now, especially on the boys side so it is about time for a down year....and this year may not end as down as it is looking right now. This second half of the season should be interesting to see how they have matured and see who they can suprise. Girls are really going to make some noise with Garner back now and she will be back in great form by the end of the regular season....everyone should be clicking. Could be a big shocker in store for Clarkrange or JC!!!

He is a good player.....so are a lot of other players from PC, CC, JC, and many other teams that have NEVER played at the college level...who cares right now though???? He is only a jr. in high school, still a kid, if you all are grown people bashing like that, that is pretty sad! Do I agree that he has work to do? DEFINITELY, but so does every other high school player I have seen this year....DUH? Let's get back to talking about the game and not whose black, white, yellow, and green?

Agreed! What is it with people attacking individual players like the earlier post bashing Jacob Brown. That was a little harsh...one thing I will agree with is he needs to step up and play if he wants to play but to attack individual abilities is a bit harsh I would think. These are high school kids, remember??

CC and PC and JC are not that much different. I think JC has to RELY ALOT on Leonard, whereas PC and CC has multiple scorers. I honestly thought that PC has more big play players than CC does, especially with Gibson, Garret, and now Garner, but they sure did not play like it. I agree with the earlier post if these girls do not wake up it will just be another dissappointing season for the Lady Cats. I thought this was the best team they have had in some time now, but they are not playing very well at all. They will hopefully get it together and be ready come tourney time...need the #2 seed in the District Tournament so we avoid getting C'Range in the 2nd round of Region, assuming of course that we make the regional tournament, which at this point is not guaranteed!!!

WOW....talking about Shawn Garrett is pretty low...no matter whose side you are on! He is a good player, I mean yeah he shot alot of layups but does that not make him a really good player, I mean the fact that he gets so many layups would make him a good player in my mind. Now on to the next subject..CC has returned everyone, PC no one! This one was CC to win...DUH...they handled their business solidly, but a 24 or 26 pt. win is not what everyone, including most of the predictions on here, was expecting. Let's look at it this way, PC hits a 4 or 5 of those shots they got in the 1st that were wide opened and this is a good game, BUT they didn't! That is youth and they will eventually grow out of that. They have to have Jacob Brown and some of those seniors to help carry the load, if not, then let Dowdy and the Jr.'s have the team and do it all, and that is what may happen soon if these Seniors don't start stepping up soon. All in all though, everyone can honestly say I think that CC is not what we all expected them to be this year, I mean it's their year. Also, whoever said they were going to fall from the top is very inaccurate, no matter who they pull for Clay Co. will be there for a while! Top 3 in the next few years will be Jackson Co., Pickett Co., and Clay Co. NO ONE CAN DENY THAT!!!!!!!! These are the best 3 coaches in the district and will be the best 3 teams for years to come.

This one was a CCHS win dominantly pretty much! Not that they dominated but they were never in jeopardy of losing the game really. PC tied it up a couple of times but continually shot themselves in the foot via turnovers and TERRIBLE shot selection. Kayla Gibson being in foul trouble hurt PC ALOT....more than I can describe on here. Nice to see Tarah Garner back in uniform...big lift from her tonight. Takes some weight off of Kayla's shoulders and when they get back in rhythm after the break here this will be one FUN team to watch. Nice job for Garner dropping either 19 or 21 one. Also good job by Kayla Kimes in this one...no telling how many she had..15 free ones I bet. Sydney Roach also played well in limited minutes..if I seen it right it was 5 pts in about 10 minutes of time.......Not bad for a freshman! Good luck to both teams from here on..

Ok...agreeing that there are some terrible teams in the tournaments, but does that make the overall tournament bad. Here is a plan for you all that do not like these "state tournaments," get your team TMSAA legal (7th and 8th graders only) and see how terrible your talent becomes in 2-4 years due to the lack of playing time, and practice time for the younger kids. That would solve the problem, everyone would realize that most of the time the better teams are in these tournaments (not to say that all the teams are good but most of the good teams are in them), the better talent is from teams that play in these tournaments (i.e. not TMSAA sanctioned) and would change their minds about these not being real tournaments because lets be honest here, until the TMSAA changes some of their picky, crazy rules, this is the best option.

Wow....what a statement..Clay Co. won this one by however many they wanted I think. BUT....it was not like PC only scored on the subs, I mean most of CC starters, not all but most played the entire third and part of the fourth and Jo Dowdy was still scoring, so even though this one was definitely a blow out I believe this is not a very accurate statement. It was bad enough as it was...no need to get on here and talk it up as worse than that.

GAME OF THE YEAR?????? Pickett Co. girls are really good, especially with Kayla Gibson and now Garner coming back, Celina also good. Should be a good game to watch...this one could be OT....2OT....or more. RBS game was OT win for both, Celina by 2 and PC by 10 both in OT. Gonna be a fun game to watch I say PCHS by 5 in OT.

Are we really talking about whether or not they are state tournaments??? They are as real as anyone around here plays in. There is a reason that no one in this area plays in the TMSAA and it is because they will not let you play anything but 7th and 8th graders on the team that plays. That is ridiculous and when they change the rules to make it best player plays then we will talk about it being the "real state tournament." Not only that, but there are also three TN state champions in the TMSAA and that is the East champion, west champion, and middle tn champion. I would almost guarantee that any state champion from the JCH State Invitational Tournament or the TNT can destroy almost all of the state champions from the TMSAA state tournaments. But anyways....the only reason there is not more people playing in the TMSAA state tournaments is because the teams are not as good, you cannot develop talent as well because they are not aloud to officially play until 7th and 8th grade, and let's just be honest that is pretty ridiculous!!

Well....Clarkrange won this one by 8. Pickett County actually played as good of a game as they have in a while. If they had played like this against Monterey they win by 20 going away, against Jackson County, they would have made it a good game. However, they did not and thus were blew out in both of those games. If PC could just come to play like they did tonight every night, then they will play alot closer to teams then they have been. Heath Elder played a really good game, as did Jo Dowdy and Ben Aaron. BUT...Sam Cummings gets the game ball carrying the team in the third quarter scoring 9 in a row to start the quarter I believe it was. This is a changed player from the summer and if he keeps improving like he has been lately, he will be a great asset for this team down the road. One factor that really hurt PC was in the 2nd qtr. they were leading by 6 at one point, and Clarkrange hit a little run and pulled within two, Coach Bibb got T'd up. On this play, Coach Bibb may or may not have deserved the T, I honestly do not know, however I know he said it while sitting down. Late in the game, 3rd or 4th qtr. Coach Pyle was giving it to the refs up one side and down the other and never got T'd up so in my opinion I thought the short ref might have been a little quick on the T against Bibb, but that is just my opinion. What does everyone else think about this? Good Luck to PC in the game Friday against Clay Co. They will have to play 20 pts. better even then they did tonight to win that one, but maybe they can do it..

I also think that Clay County will be the #1 team in district 7a next year, and just might be able to make a run at the State Title. These guys were freshman or sophomores when Clay went to state A few years ago and know what it takes to get there. I think if they work hard this summer they can really make a run for it all, but it will be up to them. PC and JC will also be okay. They will start off slow but they will come on by tournament time. Should be an interesting year next year in 7a.
