  1. WOW, Pickett Co. was having all kinds of problems and the the worst thing that could happen for PC. Jacob Wright fouls out, and then a Tech was given a little later to Gibson (I THINK). The Bobcats have fallen to pieces, and the Dawgs are eating them alive. 45 seconds left in the game and Clay Co. has taken a 40-29 lead with the ball. Dustin Rich is playing AWESOME. He is all over the floor, grabbing boards, BLOCKING MULTIPLE SHOTS, and even has a few steals. Congratulations to the Bulldogs as they will FINALLY get a Sub-State appearance at CELINA. GREAT JOB AND GOOD LUCK in Sub-State.
  2. Clay County up on Pickett County 32-24 end of third quarter. Seems to be a great game going on in Watertown.
  3. Clay County is leading at the half 20-16. Dustin Rich and TC Capps both have two fouls.
  4. WOW, the beginning of the end for Allons is looking GREAT. 7th Grade tournaments are going on right now and as of now, the closest game they have played is 30 points last night against LMS. So, one team to go (Hilham) and unless they beat Allons, which is possible, I think the beginning of the end is looking good. Future is bright for the Hawks.
  5. Clay should take JC by about 9. PC wins by 7 points pulling away on free throws. Great job by District 7A on finishing off 8A in boys and girls. Impressive. Good Luck to CC and PC in their games tonight.
  6. That is a fact. I have a great amount of respect for Coach Melton, and he will play the better players. I am glad that he FINALLY has the job at LA. As far as the comment about Casey beating LA, I believe they did at Clay. Anyways, at LA they did not play the best game, no excuse, just the facts, they played bad, and LA has a better coach now. As far as the Melton-McCoin debate that got this started, the past four years, we went 3-1 against LA, losing only 1 game in four years against a AA team, which should have been good, and that 1 game we lost was in Overtime. Go figure on that one. I am proud of all we accomplished in the past four years, and what Casey helped accomplish last year, and what they will this year. 3 straight trips to the district, region finals, and Sub-state can speak for itself. We don't have to prove anything to you people on here, I respect LA basketball, and am very glad that the program is improving, with the hiring of Coach Melton. I also have many friends at LA, and that have graduated from LA, and remember for a long time people coming up to me (the way they do Casey now) and saying that we should be playing at LA, and also saying that we would be a good help to the team. People in Livingston know how it is there, and almost anyone, the unbiased especially, would admit the way things have been in the past, and I for one am glad to seeing this improving. By the way a single A team should rarely beat a double A team. This being said I think our record proves that something at LA has not been up to par in the past 4 years. 3-1. Good Luck Cats in the REGION and after that.
  7. LOL. I don't really have a problem with either of them either. I simply stated the facts. Did McCoin not coach Cates, etc at LMS not too many years ago. I think he did, but I would not swear to that. As far as Richard coaching more of them in middle school, he only coached at Allons, McCoin has been picking people from 3 schools in Overton County for the last several years as LA coach, and there has been all kinds of talent at that school, and unfortunately, lots of talent that has went unnoticed. Most people that think and know that talent has went through there un noticed have also stated that it is in large part to politics in overton Co. and everyone that knows Livingston knows how big a part that plays. As far as McCoin building the team, the next couple of years will go on to show that I am right when I say Melton built this team, because LA will continue to improve with every game, and will continue to improve for years to come with Coach melton at LA. He will take that basketball team places they have never been, just give him time. He is a great coach, and in a couple of years, everyone is going to know that I was correct that he was building GREAT teams all alone, and he now HE has the chance to get them where they should have been already, and will be in the future, the State Tournament. good Luck LA in the regions, and hopefully far after that.
  8. I agree with you on that df. If that quote is true, then someone is really warped. That is a low statement to make to anyone, and Clay has proven they are the better team this year. PC however has definitely improved. They should be tough in the regional tournaments as well. I look forward to hopefully getting to see the PC Bobcats and the Clay Co. Bulldogs in yet another priceless Region Championship. Good Luck to both teams in the tournaments.
  9. Clay County by 11 with Dustin Rich not playing as many minutes as he would have usually. Good Luck to the Dawgs, better go to play ball.
  10. Oh, yeah that's exactly it. I am going to assume you are talking about Casey Ferrell, who is averaging more right now than about anyone at LA, maybe with the exception of Justin Monday. That was one of the most unintelligent posts I think I have ever seen, state the facts and get bashed, but that's OK, I get it. McCoin made a lot of people happy at LA, people that probably would not have been playing otherwise, and I GUARANTEE you one thing. If Casey was at LA this year, he would probably be starting, and would be playing SIGNIFICANT minutes at very least. A lot of players at LA should be glad he moved, because that's a lot of minutes they would not get to see the floor on, too bad that the past several years the team has not been picked on the best players, nor have the best players always played. But, then again it has been like that at LA for many years, in lots of sports, and is no surprise to see the BIG NAMES play, whether they are good enough to play or not. Typical politics, and typical Livingston. Good Luck to the Cats in the region tourney, hope they can make state, regardless of someone's idiotic comments.
  11. McCoin - Wilson Cates, Tyler Smith, Lance Ruble, Tyler Livingston, Main ones that McCoin had something to do with. Melton - Brandon Matthews, Tyson Stover, Justin Monday, Chase Dunn, Devin Ramsey, Jeremy McLearran, Todd Smith, Main ones that Melton had MOST to do with. Look's to me like there is no contest for who "built" this team. Melton has 3 starters that he had most everything to do with and almost all the bench players, besides 2. McCoin had something to do with two players, and 2 coming off the bench. Bottom line is Richard Melton has been putting consistent players in that high school since 2001, the only thing is Danny McCoin could never do anything with them. My opinion, NO, look back at how many times they have made it out of the region tournament, I bet that is a really small number, and there is no guarantee that they will this year, but with as much talent as they have now, they will be TOUGH from now on, for several years anyways. Melton is an AWESOME coach, and has been putting this team together for years in hopes of them getting to the state tournament, now he got them the players, and they still could NOT get it done, so they had to move him in to coach them all, too. He will get it done eventually, and it very well could be this year. Congratulations to Coach Melton, and the LA Wildcats on an extraordinary year. Good Luck in the Regional Tournaments, and prove all those wrong who doubt that you can make it. GO HOG-EYE.
  12. Jackson County, in my opinion matches up better with FCS. I am calling the upset Jackson Co. over FCS in first round by 5.
  13. If PC plays like they did against JC, putting a brutal whoopin' on them, and Clay plays like they have been lately, and does not attack the basket, like they seemed not to against Clarkrange, they could lose, and actually the way PC played last night, they will have a great chance. Either way, this should be a great game, good luck to both teams. Clay by 7.
  14. WOW, Pickett Co. put it to Jackson Co. the whole game, with the exception of the first quarter. The lack of fouls made this game even better, too. After the first half, JC had 3 fouls as a team, and PC had 1. Overall, Awesome game by the Bobcats, kind of looked like JC caught them on a bad night. JC played bad too though. TC Capps dunk in the third really put an exclamation mark on the entire game. PC cruised, and might again if Clay Co. doesn't want it more than them. Good luck in the finals to PC and CCHS.
  15. Now, there is something we can agree on. I am not trying to favor one player only, I hope they all do great, and make it to state and all that. I simply think they would be better off getting him more touches because it would help to open up the outside shots. Would you not agree that the post getting the ball more often would help them all in the long run, especially when they get to the regional tournament, they will have to use him more. Good Luck to the Dawgs against HS/C'Range.
  16. Yeah they play against those terrible farm boys all year long. Siegel and Cookeville, and Cleveland. Stinkin' farm boys I tell ya. Um....Did LA not beat Station Camp earlier in the year, and even though SC has got better I am sure, LA probably has too, just a thought. Also played David Lipscomb a really close game, so what are these "facts" that you have on your side, and I agree with the earlier post that you should stick to tennis, because you obviously know nothing about basketball. Also, hasn't Livingston only lost 6 games all year, and I am pretty sure the largest margin of defeat is 7 points. They could very well win this region, but you better hope not for your sake because the people on this thread will tear you to shreds if that happens. Good Luck LA in the tourney.
  17. Stinson averages 18 per game which is really good, but is it not true that Justin Monday leads the district in rebounds, blocks, and points per game. If so, seems like those stats would speak for theirself, and he should be the MVP, but like someone said earlier, politics obviously ran everything at this meeting, but will not happen at the district tourney. Good luck Cats, you should win the awards that are most important, and those are called championships.
  18. Yeah, I am a liar. This coming from someone that does not even see if their kid is OK, because he is too worried about yelling at the refs that there was not a call. All I am going to say about that, and you should know what I mean. I do not want to stir up trouble for Clay Co. I want them to win as much or more than you. You know and I know, and everyone else that roots for Clay Co. knows that Rich does not get the ball as much as he should. Apparently, they do not run enough plays to get him opened or something, and all I am saying is I think they would be better off to get him open shots. If he scores 10-15 points a game then I think all the gaurds would get more open shots, and in turn that would make the whole team function better. It makes me wander why he does not get the ball even more when they lose to someone they should have obviously beaten. The games they have played where they all score an even amount of points, or close to it is the games they have done the best in, I think. Anyways, Good Luck to the Dawgs in the tournament, and hope they pick it up and get to the Boro.
  19. Oh, I am sorry. Most coaches of the year, and MVP's have LOSING records. LOL. Give me a break, apparently this was an inside job from the very beginning. How can a team that goes undefeated get shafted out of almost ALL the awards. Ridiculous how things work out when people obviously put their heads together. Anyways, in almost anyone's opinion, with the exception of the two "winners" teams, Melton and someone from LA (Monday in my opinion), should have won those awards. Anyways good luck to the Cats in the District tourney, and they should definitely prove who should get those awards during the tournaments.
  20. LOL. I cannot believe YOU said that. Coming out of the stands and being a coach must be WAY different than coming out of the stands and being a Ref. LOL (Enter mr. godwin). Someone who ALWAYS complains about the officiating during the game, and occasionally brings that CRAP on here. LOL, give me a break. Clay has a great group of gaurds, and players overall, but those same great gaurds REFUSE to throw the ball inside. I do not see the coach over there screaming give him the ball????????????? Anyone have a legitimate awnser on why Rich cannot get the ball?
  21. Actually, he deserves ALOT of credit for most of those there. Brandon Matthews, Chase Dunn, Justin Monday, Devan Ramsey, Jeremy McLerrean, Todd Smith, and that is just to name the ones that I remember right off the top of my head. You can definitely tell which ones he has had the oppurtunity to work with. They are the ones that play most of the minutes, and after this year, they will play almost ALL the minutes, and DOMINATION is on its way to Livingston and that district is in big trouble for a few years. Congratulations to Livingston Academy and Coach Melton, the TRUE Coach of the Year.
  22. WoW, that's why he did not get it. He always says if he is down by 20-25 points he is not out of the game, and tells everyone he does not believe the other team is if they are only down by 20 (Celina game is a perfect example). As far as him getting loved by the other coaches, I guarantee you that he could care less whether they love or hate him, no wait, actually he would rather them hate him. He loves to be hated, that's what happens when you are good. Many great sports figures are hated because they are good. Richard Melton has done a great job this season, and knows in his own mind that he is the coach of the year, not like awards actually matter to him, there is only one award that matters to him. It is called a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Look for that in the next few years at the latest. LA will be tops in this district for a LONG time to come, may as well get ready for it, and he Coach Melton would be honored to know that for the next few winning years at LA he will not get coach of the year because he is not everyone's favorite. Boy I bet that really bothers him. Lol. Good job coach Melton and good luck in the tourneys.
  23. I disagree completely. I like Colby Stinson and all, but he did not deserve this award over someone from LA. Yeah, that may be true about they would still be good and all that if some of there players were gone, but that does not make Colby deservant of the award. He may carry his team to some wins, but he NEVER carried them to one over LA, no one in the district did. But, that makes sense I guess, I bet Dekalb Counties coach deserved it, I bet he carried the whole team on his back to huh? Get real, LA is the better team with the better players, and should have gotten both these awards.
  24. LOL. First of all I agree that he is a great player. I am NOT a relative of Dustin Rich is another thing, that was a complete idiot who thought I was, just by posting that they should look at him. I am not saying that a zone is the only reason they lost to Livingston they were not going to beat Livingston again like the ffirst time anyways. I am also not saying that zone is the ONLY reason they lost to JC last night, they did not play good, JC did. All I am saying is that the zone has not worked on teams that shoot the ball well this year (FCS, JC, LA). Man-to-man might be an option for teams like this, and will probably have to be in the tourney. Now, back to Dustin Rich, just because he is a good post player, and everyone knows it is a GREAT reason for him not ot get the ball, I mean why wouldn't it be?????? I will agree that it is really hard to get him the ball when someone is playing tight D on him, the fact of the matter is this, WE DO NOT TRY TO GET HIM THE BALL. Whether he has D on him or not, they are not urged to throw the post the ball, and never have been urged to do so. That was also a big factor last night, he has to score more than 6-8 points, and he also has to get THE BALL to do that. Everyone in the stands can see that he needs the ball more than what he gets it, that was also a factor against LA, not like it would have mattered in the end, but the POST ate us alive on defense, and ours never got THE CHANCE to return the favor on offense. All I am saying is we will win more games if he will get the ball, but as everyone watching from the Celina side knows, he is not going to get the ball, unless he Rebounds it for his self to score, so I guess I will just hope he gets more rebounds so the post can have some effect on the outcome of the game in the Tourneys. Good Luck to the Dawgs in the tournaments, and if you guys don't pick it up and play better than ya'll have been playing, there will be an early exit coming in the Region tournament, so it all boils down to how bad you want it? and who wants it more you or the teams you are going to be playing? Good Luck.
  25. I agree that Colby Stinson is a great player, and is also a really great person, but there is no way that someone from Livingston Academy did not win the MVP award. NO WAY. stuntwoman, how could that possibly be? They vote one way and give it to someone else, something is definitely fishy there??? There is no way possible that everyone from Livingston Academy did not get the major awards. If Coach Melton did not get the Coach of the Year award, which he seemingly did not, something is wrong. I mean for someone to go undefeated in District play in a weak district is fairly good accomplishment, much less to go undefeated in a decent district. MVP and Coach award has to go to Livingston, unless there were two undefeated teams, which cannot be. Oh well, LA will shake that off, Coach Melton probably does not care, but everyone in the district better be aware of the fact that he WILL make sure his players get the respect they deserve in the tournaments. If LA has to drill everyone in the ground, which they seemed to have done thus far this year, they will in order to win the district and get the awards they rightly deserve, and set themselves up for an easier road in Region play. If LA goes into the Region Tourney and plays ball, there should be a sub-state game coming to Livingston this year, and they should make it to the State tourney. If they make it to the region finals and lose however, they have a LONG shot to get into state, but I am definitely pulling for them. Good Luck to the Cats in the Tourney, get in there and get those awards that are rightfully yours. Also, Congrats to Coach Melton on an AWESOME season, and probably the best one that has come to Livingston since he stopped playing there. Good luck.
