  1. congrats to grace. grace is a very good team and played well. they did a good job of sticking on jeremy sexton. overall i think temple's players (other than sexton and number 12) were too hesitant. i'm not sure if jeremy was trying too hard, or if the other players were just depending on him too much. defensively, i thought we needed to front grace's big man more. i liked the press in the third quarter. the uptempo style seemed to take pressure off of jeremy and it helped the rest of the team to just react and not be hesitant. good luck in the substate guys.
  2. sounds kinda like the Temple Trousdale game rkw38. Trousdale lead the whole game, and then we made some plays to come back and win it. Both games decided by 1 point.......wow. Sounds like all four of these teams are pretty evenly matched. I dont think any of them are unbeatable. Should be another very close game. Go Crusaders.
  3. Congrats to Gordonsville. I was wrong on both the Gordonsville/SP pick and the Trousdale/LV pick. I knew that our region (region 3) had improved and had 3 good teams, but wow.........region 4 has 3 teams that can compete w/ ANYONE in the state in class A. i knew they were all really good, but i didnt realize just how good they were. To beat SP and LV by 4 or 5 touchdowns (both really good teams), youve got to be a great team. Region 4 looks to be the toughest region in the state EASY. Im definately a believer. Congrats also to my boys at Temple tonight. Great win for you guys as well. Hope you guys do well next week against a VERY VERY STRONG trousdale county team. Congrats to all the teams that made it to the second round.
  4. We all have our opinions..............like you said...........thats why they play the games. and oh yeah...........LV isn't "my" team. I just think they are underrated. I think the LV TC game will be much better than the SP Gordonsville game.
  5. no im not kidding.............and region 3 isn't that bad this year..............the 3 seed in region 3 happens to be a good football team. im predicting the upset....its more fun........and i think it just might be LV's night.
  6. first i wanna say congratulations to LV's Scruggs on braking the single season rushing record. What an accomplishment. This Lookout Valley team isn't as bad as everyone thinks. They have been playing pretty good football at the end of the year and I think they will be ready for Trousdale County. I am going to say LV upsets Trousdale in a CLOSE game. (by the way.............to fans of both sides..........."jackets roll" could be talking about either team b/c BOTH teams are the yellow jackets. ) Good luck to both teams.
  7. WOW.....................WOW............................my reaction is kinda similar to some of the boyd fan's reactions when we beat SP........................wow. Congratulations to Boyd on winning the 3-2A title...............wow...............Tyner's first region loss in years. Boyd broke that streak...........that is something to feel good about. Playing the toughest schedule of ANY team in the state regardless of classification paid off. You guys performed well when you needed to and won the region. Congratulations again and good luck in the playoffs. Hope all the Chattanooga area teams represent the area well.
  8. As far as region 3 goes.............Temple, SP, and LV are locks. As far as the 4 spot goes, its a battle between Whitwell Grace and Silverdale. Right now, Grace is the most likely candidate because if there were a 3 way tie, Grace would go b/c they have the better overall record. If Copper Basin beats Silverdale, barring any upset by Grace, Whitwell would be the 4 seed. If Silverdale beat BOTH SP and Copper Basin (VERY unlikely), then Silverdale would be the 4 seed. If Silverdale beats Copper and loses to SP (most likely), the 3 teams would be tied, and as mentioned earlier Grace would win the tiebreaker.
  9. To the person who said we are a recruiting supposedly Christian school, you need to know the facts before you make statements. Temple does NOT recruit. Four years ago, Coach Beard and Coach Skogen took the BASKETBALL team, and a few other guys and started a football team. We did not go get athletes. In four years we have had THREE transfers....all of which were legit TSSAA approved non Temple initiated transfers. I've known public schools who have 10 times that many transfers. It says alot for a bunch of guys who play BASKETBALL to be succeeding some at the football level. While I am NOT saying Temple is going to win the state since there are so many other fine football teams in the state, we are a very good team and we have done things completely fairly. Now more importantly, why don't you visit www.tntempleacademy.com. You will learn that Temple truly is a CHRISTIAN school first and foremost. I cant say anything for the other schools, but I can tell you Temple's purpose for existance is for giving honor and glory to our Saviour Jesus Christ. Every single thing that we do, including academics, athletics, etc, we believe in doing our very best for the glory of God. And at the end of the day, if we have some success, He gets the praise.
  10. thats a great post. i agree w/ you and the other guy along w/ the FCS guy and zonepirate. lets not get overzealous here. everyone knows that temple has a great team now. weve got the respect of people now. we need to be focusing on Copper Basin...........not the state title..........or even playoffs for that matter. Come December if by chance we happen to be in it, then we can talk about it. I say we should focus on only the NEXT game. One game at a time. If we don't completely focus on Copper Basin............they could beat us. Great job Crusaders so far.
  11. a 3 way tie between Whitwell, Silverdale, and Grace that is.
  12. If Silverdale beat Whitwell and Copper Basin, and there were no major upsets by the 3 teams, there would be a 3 way tie for fourth..........with all 3 teams 2-4 with wins over each other. i dont know what would happen then.
  13. You could also say Whitwell beat Grace 48-28 and Grace beat Silverdale 34-16. If you put those together it would say Whitwell by 38. Your earlier analogy would say Silverdale by 26. I think this simply shows you cant compare scores to get an accurate prediction. Ill average the two and say Whitwell by 6.
  14. first of all let me say I have a ton of respect for all of the programs I am mentioning. In no way do I mean any of these comments negatively toward any team, but rather I am just making statements about how each team has done so far this season. SP is the class of region 3-1A until proven otherwise. They deserve to be ranked number 1 in class A in my opinion. MC and Boyd both have very proud histories and have been 2 of the better programs in our area. I used to watch MC games when Colquitt coached and saw them play in the state championship 2 or 3 times. Boyd showed that no matter how much a program is struggling, it can be turned into a powerhouse program as evidenced with the many state final appearances. I wish all these teams luck and hope they have continued success. Now then,............as far as schedule strength...........yes SP's schedule is slightly better...........but not a TON better. The reason...........the 2A region this year is not any stronger than the 1A region. In fact the region is very comparable. One flagship team in each region (tyner and SP).......and the rest of the teams are looking up. The other 4 teams in 3-2A aren't that good this year. Let's face it...........MC got killed by SP. A really good team doesn't get killed that bad by ANYONE. and MC beat Boyd, so Boyd isn't that good either. I wouldn't call a 48-0 win a test. As far as Temple goes, Temple has not yet been tested against a great team. We will know just how good the Crusaders are after friday night. I think the guys have a chance if they don't make mistakes, but only time will tell if this is correct. Good luck guys. The fans are behind you. Give it your best effort. Good luck to both teams. Hope its an injury free game for both sides.
  15. Friendship Christian is expected to win this game........all of the pressure is on them. I think the recipe might be just right for an upset.
  16. you make an interesting point about game of the week in the chattanooga area. I know we have alot of SP and Temple supporters on here. If you guys think it should be game of the week, don't forget to vote. Its one of the 3 choices of friday night football game of the week.
  17. Post your thoughts and predictions about the upcoming game. interesting matchup. Both teams coming their best games of the season. I believe if the Crusaders play mistake free football, they have a shot. Ill be there. Good luck to both teams. Hope it's an injury free game. Go Crusaders.
  18. I agree w/ what youre saying about next week being a good test for Skogen. In the SEC, or any MAJOR college football for that matter, ALL of the athletes are going to be fast like SP players. It will be interesting to see how we do against SP. Congrats SP on a HUGE win. u guys keep getting better. hopefully next week's game is a little closer. ill be there. Go Crusaders.
  19. well its kinda like this. every school (public or private) is going to have lots of people (athletes and non athletes) that may not have be born in that area but have lived in that area and gone to that school a long time. I am kind of an example of that. I did not play sports at Temple. i have lived in the chattanooga area for the past 15 years of my life, but i am originally from Texas. im sure there are many people just like me who have attended area public and private schools alike for many years. its not really that big of a deal where u were born or originally from because people move sometimes. As far as the Georgia thing goes, the school is like 10 mins or less from the TN/GA border. We had many students (including many nonathletes) who lived just on the other side of the border who came to Temple when i was in school. The Wadleys may live on the other side of the border, but they have been at Temple their whole life, so its not like we just got them for sports or something. That's pretty much the explanation on the whole "georgia" thing. oh yeah, and ironically.......coach wadley is no longer at Temple.....he took a coaching job at McCallie.
  20. First let me apologize if i sounded angry or harsh. 90 percent of the players are from the chattanooga area (within 10 to 15 mins of the school), and the skogens don't live in alabama. please let's try to only comment when we know facts. now let me give you some credit. you have said some nice things about the team and players, and thats very nice. Im sure hampton has a really great team, and im sure it would be a fun game. It just isn't fair to all the hardworking guys at Temple when people take away from their success by saying they just go recruit and get players from everywhere. Its just not true, and its not fair to the guys that have caused the success to have that taken away from them. Thanks for being more careful about these comments in the future. I hope that your hampton team has a very good year, stays free of injuries, and maybe we will have the honor of playing against you guys some time. Good luck to hampton, and all the other teams out there. Go Crusaders.
  21. as i said in the previous post, highschoolfanatic u are wrong and u dont know the facts. 90 percent of temple's players have been at temple for years and years. 90 percent of them live within 15 minutes of the school and have for YEARS. since the football program started, 90 percent of the players were already at Temple. and for your information the Skogens live (and have lived for 10 years) 10 minutes from the school. Get your facts straight before you make ignorant posts.
  22. great post. all of temples players have been at temple for YEARS and YEARS except for 2 guys. lets face it. we have a good football team b/c of hard work, SOME talent, and a great coaching staff and offensive system that coach skogen has implemented. anyone who has followed temple basketball over the past 3 or 4 years knows that 90 percent of Temple's skill position players are just their basketball team. Most of these guys are mainly basketball players. coach skogen took a bunch of basketball guys and made them into football stars. the success of the team is a result of hard work and great coaching, not all of this other stuff. Let's make sure we know the facts before we make inaccurate posts about teams.
  23. South Pittsburg names the score. If they keep playing like they played last week, I think they can beat anyone in class A.
  24. Good luck to both teams. I have alot of respect for the athletic program at Unaka. I remember when I went to the first Temple/Unaka basketball game at Unaka and they fed us after the game a WONDERFUL meal and just showed us soooooooooo much hospitality. We tried to do the same the next year (although our food probably wasn't as good), and ever since then the two schools have had a friendly rivalry. I know that the coaches, staff, and players of Unaka think very highly of us just like the coaches, staff, and players of Temple think very highly of them. The Rangers and the Crusaders are both very improved. I think it will be a good game between 2 teams who are looking forward to very successful seasons. Go Crusaders
