To that I will agree.....a scrimage run well is worth very little to anyone outside of the two teams that take the field

It should have been obvious. I have no idea who you talked to....but I can tell you the only starter in defense was Isiah Williams..he was a DE last year..projected as an LB this season. Number 32, Chris Wolf...may be a starter...don't know yet....he's a wrestler and never played football..at all..until last week. That was it. The 06 secondary will be John Wilson, Scot Ford, Michael Ayers , and Corbin Karl....didn't play in the scrimage. The LBs will be Isiah Williams, Austin Baird, and Paul Kleckner.....only Isiah played Friday. The bandits will be Jonathon Emkes and Adam Presley....didn't play in the scrimage. The DL will be Chris Wolf, Jesse johnson, and an open slot....only Wolf played. Like I said...the only starter on defense was Williams...and maybe Wolf. On offense....the starting OL will Joe Thompson, Luke Stanfield , Trevor Witherspoon, Garrett Snoeyenbos, and an open position. The OL played in the scrimage. The QB will be Mike Becker...and he played Friday. The RB will be Corey Laidlaw...didn't play on Friday. The WRs will be Karl, Emkes, Ford, Lopez, Ayers, Baird, etc....didn't play in the scrimage. As I stated earlier...4 starting OL and the starting QB were the only starters that played on Friday. As of Friday, the soccer team, the lacrosse team, the rugby team, and the baseball team were still playing, don't know about track. I don't follow those sports so I have no idea which will still be playing next week..... Sounds like you attended the scrimage...did you really think that was our starting RB....he was a 120lb ninth grader!!!!!!!!!!!!

WC didn't look too bad....one parent indicated that all of their players were in the house...and it showed....good job! I think they'll have a good year. I wouldn't get too excited about this scrimage though.. they were basically playing the Raptors JV...one starter on defense.....4 starters on the OL...and the new QB...everyone else is still playing other sports...Lacrosse, Rugby, soccer, track, and baseball. The price you pay for going too deep into the playoffs...The really sad part is that the Riverdale scrimage won't be any better....sorry folks..! We'll try to provide a better showing this fall!

Point noted.....but not one I can argue....That's an awfully broad statement....without a defensible position. Way too many variables to defend. I have no knowledge of Ohio HS football....and I'm not willing to take your word as gospel. You're certainly entitled to your opinion and we Tennessseans appreciate your sharing it with us.........but we'll just have to agree to disagree...! I'm sure Ohio has some wonderful players...so does Tennessee, Texas, PA, Florida, CA, etc....any given year?

You got me....I've only been around Tennessee football for about 40 years......and how is the prior years OH team relevant....that falls under the "so what catagory"... Top 8..does that mean they didn't even win their region? I will admit that I've never heard that at least the top 15 teams in Ohio could beat any team in Tennessee...not even from my friends in Ohio. I guess I should drop to my knees the next time I fly over that football meca of a state. You stated that Riverdale beat this Ohio team that was in the top 8 in the state...yet you also stated that at least the top 15 teams in Ohio would beat any team in Tennessee....I suppose in order to follow that logic...I would have been educated in Ohio..like you......that might also explain your spelling skills.

I can only hope that when you get a little older...you get more objective. You act like the Warriors have been on the mountain top forever! It hasn't been that long ago since Riverdale was the door mat of the boro....when my oldest boys played for OR in the mid 80s to the early 90s...Oakland was the team to beat...and they gave everyone fits....Gallatin had a great run for a few years....prior to that ....Germantown was the team to beat for a few years.....and so on! Point is...teams come and teams go....that's not a bad thing...it just is! Your boys have had a great run....they're not going to fall of the map....they just won't scare everyone anymore...I wouldn't count on a 10 win season....to much going on.....but we'll see....if they do..'ll be the first to say 'job well done' Almost forgot....beating an unranked team from Ohio....no points!

Wow...you middle Tennessee guys sure put a lot of faith in scrimages. A scrimage is simply an opportunity to see how some combination of players works...nothing else. If a coach let his team score 70 points in a scrimage....he's surely missed the point. If Riverdale's intent is to score 70 points in the Ravenwood scrimage...they might do it....because Ravenwood will be there for an entirely different reason. They'll be trying to see how certain players react against someone other than a teammate. Not to belabor the 2005 issue....but since you appear to have missed a significant portion of the season.....I'll update you. Riverdale almost got beat several times in 05....but good teams find a way to win. Then they got their collective hats handed to them by OR....shut out as I recall...then OR was soundly beaten by Ravenwood in the last game of the year....a very good defensive effort by both teams. I believe at that time the mighly warriors had turned in their equipment. Since I'm too old to play....way too old....You need only to talk to the players to find out who the best teams were.......The teams that garnered the respect of their opponents....!! The Ravenwood players told me that Franklin was the toughest team they faced....OR the second toughest...and Brentwood the third....the most talented team was Ridgeway....in the state! They just weren't a very good team....lucky for Ravenwood...and everyone else. As I talk to kids across the state...unfortunately, Riverdale isn't mentioned by anyone as a top team in 05...I guess except cetain Riverdale fans..... Good luck this coming year...although it sounds like the warriors have a huge mountain to climb...an awful lot of distractions and wholesale changes....but I'm sure it can be done if everything falls into place at the right time. Is this the end of a terrific run for the Warriors....I have no idea..ask me again in December....although Ive never seen a coach leave in the middle of such a string of successes.....I keep wondering what Rankin knows that I don't ...!

You are talking about Franklin County...right? Let's be clear You would have lost to Franklin....they were the second best team in the state last year

Hey Spear...soccer and Lacrosse will go to their respective playoffs....will miss spring...most of fball guys are spread across Lacrosse...some soccer some baseball, and some track....not a lot left.....over half the starters are out

Neither team will be anywhere near full strength.....they won't look anything like they'll look in the fall.....for sure! I know Ravenwood will be missing over half the starters to other sports....I'm sure Riverdale's the same......while we won't be able to look at this game for next years standings....I think it should be a fun game to watch....certainly worth the $3.00......

I realize it's under the football catagory The paper today announced the hiring of Rodney Thweet as the new HC for the Hillsboro High Basketball program....for Ravenwood it's good riddance!!!!!! Sorry...I won't go there again...

Nicky...Oak Ridge can have it....they need something to talk about. The Raptors got their rings last month...we placed it in the trophy case next to the '91' ring that #55 (Brent) got.

The Raptors did make the playoffs..they went as far as talent would take them...other than that.... His uncle is very well respected in the mid-state, though I think retired now. You don't need a big family..OD....just the right family! I'm not sure he's got the job....just rumor among the boosters

Actually OD...a problem with the entire junior class....and yes he had a problem with my little one. His thought was to build a round ball program with no footballers.....there was 11 juniors on the team last year...now there's one. ...and he's the only one that doesn't play football. I don't think you can build a HS basketball team these days without using footballers....anymore than you could at Riverdale or Oak Ridge or..? He was young and this was his first HS coaching job...he was hired because of a relative in county system. He came from a middle school in VA...I think Richmond. His main issue...doen't listen..to anyone! Pretty common story..he got the boosters, parents, players, and staff against him....and then you're looking for a job! I wish I could say he'll learn from this...but I doubt it...!

Come on Cat...there's a huge difference between losing some good players and starting over. It's high school...they always lose good players....and Ravenwood is no different...they lost some terrific kids...my only point was to respond to this constant drum beat that Ravenwood lost the entire team.....not anymore true than Riverdale, Oak Ridge, Brentwood, etc...... This new Ravenwood team will be just as talented as last years team.....if they click..they can be a terrific team...if not...?

I think the former Basketball HC at Ravenwood is going to Hillsboro....he got run off last week.....his name is Rodney Thweet.......calls himself Coach T....he's the worst coach at any level I've ever been around. Sorry BORO...we tried to send him back up north.....please don't blame us....

Go back to last years rosters....I think Brentwood lost more starters that Ravenwood.....I also think Franklin did too.....and they all lost their QBs I don't what to think about the Smyrna/Riverdale deal...Smyrna still has to prove they can beat'em.....even if they are a better team...it'll be hard to do... How long has it been since Smyrna beat Riverdale?
