Ok, I just remember someone on here calling you out last year stating that the assistant coach got a tech that cost them the game. Also, I am a student at Oak Ridge, played football but left basketball for everyone else. I follow the area b/c I love the sport.

The only thing holding Halls back is their coaching and size. Also, I heard Hargis wasn't going to play basketball this year. Is that true? Dont know how a team with 3 winning seasons over the last 10 years can be underestimated?

First, good luck to Catholic at the state tourney. I root for all local teams. However, I will say it like I have said it before. Catholic is not the best team on the floor every night. They have have 1 stud who can shoot the fool out of it "IrishBBall's Son", 1 bruiser and 4 - 5 role players that play they role very well. They also have a very good coach that executes a game plan and takes the air out of the ball. They have a chance in any game they play b/c of their execution. Again, good luck Catholic and I dont care if it takes a string of games in the 30s as long as the W lights up in Catholics side.

stranger things have happened, in fact, Wheeler High School down in GA got beat the other day. I think they were like 5 time defending state champ and undefeated.

If Beau Brown shoots the ball the way he did in teh two games I watched, Alcoa will win. If Beau shoots the ball well however, Central should win. Luckily the games arent played on paper and one thing that Alcoa has going for them is they have played tougher opponents and are used to being in close games. That should help Alcoa. Also, who cares how many D 1 players have signed to play whereever. A good core group of 5 guys with good talent will normally outweigh one stud.

bigcatt2, this is kinda off subject but I have some questions for you. You seem very insightful and know what you are talking about. You are active on a lot of topics and give good opinions. If you dont mind me asking, what is your basketball background? Played in high school, college or coached anywhere. Sorry for the random questions but I just like to "pick" basketball minds and see what had led to their opinions. Also, after reading several of your posts, I take it you dont like Coach Lambert at Central?

Bruce Pearl got kicked out of the game last night. He was yelling and screaming and making a scene. The ref stopped the game and made him leave. He got up waved and smiled at the crowd and then left. Once he left the building, the game resumed play. Why would the news sentinel print this, to show that the coach made an ###### of himself? BigCat1, this did happen, just because you arent in the loop doesnt mean it didnt happen. All the vols people, listen to sports talk in the area, it was talked about all day. Call Vol Calls and ask him yourself. Im sorry you dont believe the truth. Next thing you are going to say the Vols football recruiting class was phenomanal. Go and crawl in your orange and white checkered board hole.

Bruce's son plays for West. I cannot believe some people are condoning and applauding Bruce's behavior. And yes I have seen many fans thrown out of games, not just Bruce. His behavior actually rivaled that of Buzz Peterson's wife, when she yelled at UT students and other players during AAU tournaments because they were fouling UT signees. I just hope this isnt signs of things to come from Bruce. He should be a "pillar" of the community and held to hire standards then your average fan.

Chris Conner goes for 25 and Powell wins by 4. I cant wait for this one to tip off.

Got last night off of work and decided to make the trip to West High School. Man, what a good game as West pulled it out in overtime. West looks like they are peaking at the right time before the district tourney. Everyone better watch out. On a side note, Bruce Pearl, Steve's dad, got ejected from the game and escorted out of the gym. That is real classy and I would be embarrassed if my father got thrown out of the gym. Not a good "image" to portray for kids that look up to UT basketball. Anyways, big game tonight....Powell and Halls. Anyone else going as I will see you there!

Lee has two younger brothers that are twins. Lee himself is not a twin.

Bert was also saying that Lee Humphrey of Florida cant shoot in the broadcast Saturday night. Therefore, I hold no merit in what this guy says. Parton can play, I just think he would be better going to a d 2 or 3 and playing instead of chancing it as a walk on at D1.

Also, one other thing to the person that said the parton kid can play division 1......he can shoot but will not end up at d1. He would be better going to a d2 or d3 and playing.

Im not downing Catholic but they have 1 good player, 5 role players and a good coach. The coach executes a game plan every game. That is why they were able to beat Powell and Central. Slow the game down, spread it out and shoot wide open shots when the defense gets lazy. Also, McCallie stinks. Dont ever use them as an example.

a. those teams were not from orlando, you can see that in the post. b. so these were exhitbition games just like the halls christmas tournament and the arbys classic. i find it funny you call someone else stupid. You need to look at what you write before you infer someone else is stupid.

actually blue and white, you were the only one taking away from Fulton's win by stating the officiating was bad. My comment would have actually stated that McMinn Central isnt as good as everyone may think.

Funny they lost to a less then stellar Fulton team. This team is down compared to normal years.

Just returned home from the game and cant wait to see others thoughts on the game. Cameron Sharp didnt play and my theories are even more correct now. They beat a less then stellar team from Jamestown. Without Cameron Sharp, Halls is not very good. Clay Seagars tried to pick up the slack and just couldnt do it. I admire his hustle but he cannot fill the shoes of Cameron. This team still has a lot of work to do especially if they plan on making some noise later down the road. Illness and foul trouble could be their demise because if Cameron is not running the show, it looks like Seagars will cost em. On a side note, the McGaha kid quit from Powell. I cant wait for Powell and Halls to lock up......hopefully Cameron will be feeling better

mocs30, I hope you are correct about Cameron Sharp. I wish him the best, however, I have seen tons of talent come down the pipeline and right now Cameron is not any better then Alex Oliver from Beardon. Alex was quicker, stronger and a better shooter. He could get to the basket whenever he wanted and would elevate over everyone and score. Right now Cameron cannot do that. Put a guy on him two inches taller with some quickness and Cameron struggles, hence his numbers against Central. In fact, I would put him two levels below Chris Wiley from Fulton and where did he end up? Roane State and then Knoxville College. Only time will tell but there are a lot of holes in Cameron's game that need to be fixed.

I still think Halls will go as Cameron Sharp goes. Varner has had two career games and they won, one without much help of Sharp. I still think Halls will wear down at the end because they have no dept. Three games in one week with players playing 30 plus minutes will hurt....especially at tourney time. Oak Ridge should still win the district and Powell will count on Lee Smith down the stretch. If Smith doesnt put Powell on his back, I personally think Powell will see an early exit.

BigCatt, I know you know your basketball, but I think you are wrong on this assessement. I have watched Halston Lane, Lee Humphrey, Dedrick Dye and even Brent Jolly over the course of several years and I do not think Cameron Sharp can play D1 basketball. Dye was hands down better then Sharp and could do everything and he went to Wagner. Cameron is a D2 player at best. Heck, he could sit the bench and cheer on some D1s, but I dont ever see him exceling.

Halls.... I dont think Central can beat Halls on their best night and Halls' worst.
