  1. Best Senior in State of Tenn. this year is Jordan Cooper from Shelbyville. Signed with UK. Rankded 41st in pre draft ranking for 2009 draft. Here is link. Look for your favorite players. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index...ame%3dlaw_keith
  2. I don't think this is the case because this particular coach placed his player as the number 1 ranked player and the other player the 15th ranked player. Had he been confused he would hurt his player as well. This was not the case. The 15th player is by far the best player in the district. This was a deliberate act to intentionally keep the best player from winning. However all the other coaches ranked this player number one and it caused a tie for number one. That was about as clear as mud. LOL
  3. Kevin simply told Carlos that what he did to Andrews was a disgrace. It was Carlos who caused the scene. He started ranting and raving and threw stuff around. No one would have ever known had he acted like an adult. The MVP was announced to the public. It's a shame that the means by which the decision was made was not made public as well. Nothing against the Franklin Co. player. He was most definitely deserving to be All District. I'm sure that Kevin has put it behind him and so has E. Over the past few years this kind of garbage has been going on. Three years ago there was a 3-way tie between Barry Stewart and two other players in the district. Barry Stewart went on to be Mr. Basketball of the state of TN that year and I don't think the other players were even in the running for that award. Are the coaches of district 8AAA that stupid? I don't think so. SO WHATS UP??? Individual awards ARE important to these young men because of potential scholarships and the attention they recieve from colleges. Nothing to be taken lightly. It means a lot to these kids. I think its about time to call some hands on this type of behavior. Who is going to do it? Surely not the TSSAA . It seems no one has any guts to deal with such clowns. My hat is off to KT for standing up for his player. Carlos...shame on you for being a ranting ...raving lunatic about the issue. Its time for some of our coaches to MAN UP and do the right thing.
  4. Shelbyville will have a tough battle with Cookeville without Twilley in the game, but one thing to consider also is that Shelbyville played Cookeville and Siegel earlier in the year without 6'6" Seth Jarrell in the line up. He adds a dimension that wasn't there earlier in the year. He had some good games coming down the stretch and is a good rebounder and shot blocker.
  5. The ballots are not all that secret. Its a small world. I suggest anyone wanting to know the truth should ask the people that would know how the vote was cast. Carlos had his hand called on his actions last night and lost his cool. It is pretty much an established fact that he voted Andrews down to 15th, but he will never admit it. But he doesn't have to admit it. Its a small world. I can't fault him for wanting his player to win the MVP award. I'm sure his loyalty is appreciated. The problem is....We need our coaches to be above board. (Remember, they are teaching our young men and women.) He might have thought his player was better than Andrews, but How In the world could you think that Andrews is the 15th best player in the District? If Carlos would step up and admit he made an error in judgement, all would be forgotten and he would gain his respect back. At this point lying about it only makes it worse. I can understand FC fans wanting to defend their coach, but understand this: Its a small world.
  6. I'm not taking anything away from the LC coach at all, they are an improved team not doubt. They finished 11-18 overall and 6-6 in the district. To me 11-18 is not that great even though it was better than where they were headed. I'm sure he's a great guy, but I would have voted for the Columbia coach for the great year they had. He did a good job the entire year.
  7. The Franklin County Coach skewed the entire process by voting for Andrews as the 15th best player. In the end, we had 3 Lawrence County players on the all district team and Coach of the year was from LC as well. According to that result, Lawrence County should have dominated the district with all of that talent and the best coach in the district. I am not taking anything away from LC, but this whole process is a joke. Congrats Columbia on a good job last night, Congrats Eagles on showing a ton of heart and class !!!!
  8. 11SF you are exactly right. I've seen him make plays out of absolutely thin air. I've seen him go in a crowd of the big guys and come out with a rebound that there is no way he should have gotten. I've seen him shoot over a guy 6'7" and make him look silly. I've seem him juke people right out of their shorts. He embarasses good players. He does stuff on the court that makes you scratch your head. But so has Andrews! And I'm quite sure he will be bringing his "A" game tonight!
  9. Columbia has a good team and the losses this year against Shelbyville have been close ballgames. Its a shame that Deonta will not be on the floor tonight, because no matter what happens in this game Columbia will be getting short changed. IF Shelbyville wins tonight..it will be without their floor General and most people think Columbia has this in the bag. If Columbia wins tonight they will have beaten a team that is missing a key element. This makes things bitter sweet for Columbia no matter what happens. Its a shame. Another point to consider- This whole event could elevate the game of every player on the Shelbyville team. Can you imagine Emmanuel Andrew's game elevated any more????
  10. One last comment on this topic for me. I'm glad no one was hurt in this incident and its a shame it ended the way it did. Deonta Twilley is a class act and keeps a cool head. I've been watching him play since he was in grade school and have never seen him go out of his way to hurt anyone. I have however seen him taken down hard, pushed into the bleachers, slammed into the wall under the basket , and even tackled a couple of times on a break away lay up. Its all part of basketball, but he has a huge heart and always bounces up with the same expression on his face. He has always let his game do his talking. I can only hope he gets to play more ball in the region tournament. I hope every team from 8AAA does well in the region tournament. Good Luck.
  11. I would hardly use the term "JAB" to describe this incident. A more accurate description would probably be: struggle, shrug, twist, scuffle (maybe), but JAB is an indication that the player threw a fist. That simply didn't happen. It happened right in front of me. He tried to shrug the other player off his back and threw his arms up to break free. The other player responded more violently than Deonta ever acted the entire incident. Deonta never said anything until the official ejected him. At that point he asked the official why he was being ejected. So please, all of you people that hate Shelbyville, don't use the term JAB or Punch to describe the actions of this player. I know its hard to take getting beat for 5 years by one team, but believe me Shelbyville has been in that dungeon before as well and I'm sure we'll be there again one day. Kevin Thomas has done an outstanding job turning this program around and deserves better than the petty jealousy that is floating around. Instead, everyone needs to pull for one another as we enter the region tournament. Good Luck, Columbia, FC, LC & Go Eagles!
  12. Philosophy????? JAB? I'm amazed that anyone would call this event a jab. Maybe I was at a different game. Don't even make a comment on Deonta and his intent unless you know him personally. You have no idea about this young man! Hand checking and bear hugging are a bit different.. I think. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  13. bballrocks - I agree. I hope the player is ok. LC has a bright future ahead with some of their young players. Hats off to their effort. I wish this incident had not happened. Its unfortunate for all involved. Emotions play such a big part of this for both the players and the fans. WE all get very passionate about our home teams! Good luck to all!
  14. If that player needed to be checked for a concussion why was he in the game in the 4th quarter??? The TSSAA does need to not allow deliberate fighting to take place. Did the LC player deliberately bear hug Deonta...or was that an unintentional? This has nothing to do with the TSSAA. This official took his opportunity to retaliate against shelbyville. I'm sure he will be corrected by the TSSAA. An Academy award should be handed out on that reaction by the LC player. Sort of like a punter faking when he gets brushed by an opposing player. AND----- its hard for anyone that doesn't know Deonta to even comment on his intentions. He is no more aggressive than any other player in district 8AAA ... He just wants to play basketball without the BS that he has been dealing with down the stretch of his senior season.
  15. Was at the game as well. If this was a deliberate jab, why didn't the official call an intentional foul? LC player hugging Deonta was a foul and had been called, but the player lingered. Deonta's natural reaction was to get loose from the player. LC player then may or may not have been contacted. Some say yes, some say no. Point being- Deonta didn't go after this player to cause harm. Ejection is a joke. Technical foul may have been warranted but should have been on both players. Its a shame that Deonta's senior season and high school career will end on this note. He has done a spectacular job at point for shelbyville these last 4 years. Shelbyville can still win their next two games, but it will be a lot tougher with Deonta sitting out and the real losers in this case are the fans not getting to see his amazing ball handling skills and spectacular assists. It seems that teams playing Shelbyville for the last 3 weeks of the season are taking an aggressive approach. Columbia and Franklin County have played very good and come up short in games that could have gone either way. The rest of District 8AAA have played a very physical style that leads to out of control ballgames like we saw at Coffee County and this one Saturday night. I commend the effort and deisre of all the teams in district 8AAA but the coaches of the bottom tier of this district need to take a long hard look at their tactics. THAT includes the selecting of your ALL District team as well. Its a shame our students have to pay for the actions of jealous adults!
  16. Shelbyville 8-1 19-3 Columbia 7-2 16-4 Franklin Co. 5-4 17-9 Lawrence Co. 5-4 7-13 Tullahoma 3-6 12-7 Coffee Co. 2-7 10-13 Lincoln Co. 2-8 5-17 *Shelbyville clinched title Jan. 31
  17. Does anyone have thoughts on the way thinks finish up in District 8AAA? Shelbyville has the advantage for regular season at this point but has been ignored in the rankings. Their early loss to Tullahoma hurt them. With tournament time around the corner how will things shape up? Can Shelbyville beat Columbia a third time? Does anyone else have a chance? What about Lawrence County? Franklin County?
  18. A great game. Columbia played hard to catch up at the end but came up just short. Emmanuel Andrews has to be one of the best all around players in the state. At 5' 11" he has to be one of the best leapers around! He had 27 points in this one and took complete control of the game in the 3rd quarter.
  19. Twilley (shelbyville) or hmmm...... maybe Stewart (shelbyville) hmmmmm........ how about either? Can't forget Johsua Bone (brentwood academy)
  20. Stewart and Twilley (Shelbyville) have to be the best. If they were'nt on the same team, they would be #1 & #2 in the state.
  21. District 7AAA is by far a better district but, Shelbyville will get noticed when Regional tournament time arrives.
  22. What happens on Feb. 7th...???????
  23. One of the most awkward games i've seen in a long time. Coffee County's unorthodox style of play really makes a good team scratch it's head. Micah didn't have but 12. Stewart had 24 and Twilley had 19. Shelbyville 51 CC 44 in weird one.
  24. Shelbyville looses 48 -44 in a contest that sees the opposing team get 42 free throws. Chattahoochee scores 20 points from the field and wins. Unbelieveable officiating- Shelbyville only shoots 16 free throws. Stewart and Twilley were mugged the entire game. It was obvious Shelbyville was 20 points better. They led at the end of the first quarter 13-0 and then the officials had their say. Point blank.....SCHS got ripped! But.....They will come home ready to do business in middle TN
