  1. Well I see where you are coming from with this, but my coach posted that comment, lol, and hes just being a punk. Its not intentionally sexist.
  2. Wow! I am SOOO proud of you! Finally pursuing your dream of playing girl's volleyball! I guess these 8 pages of posts have inspired you to chase your dream!! Good luck with that!
  3. Not exactly sure what my record is, but I have about 15 pins. ANd i am a varsity wrestler. and captain. and 3rd year wrestler.
  4. I am more than happy to wrestle a girl who wants to challenge me, and until then, guess what, I will be wrestling. I love the sport, and respect it, so I go out and wrestle my butt off just like a boy would do. Keep crying along with Takedown, because there is NOTHING you can do to change it. I am gonna keep on wrestling, with the boys.
  5. You know what? How about this. FEMALES ARE ALLOWED TO WRESTLE. And guessw what? there isn't a whole lot you can do about it, now is there? NO. So, you know what, just get over it. I am tired of trying to prove my point to you, I really am. ANd it's senseless for me to argue this because guess what, I get the honor of being on the boys wrestlng team, so I guess I pretty much win anyway. YOu can whine like a little baby all you want, but while you are doing so, I will be on a mat, wrestling boys, for all to see.
  6. Very good points... and BTW, just to let you know, I wasn't saying in my post that I think wrestling is in any way sexual, whether its girls or boys, I was just making a point, just so there is no confusion. Wrestling is the toughest sport there is, and the last thing that should be on anybody's mind, wrestlers or spectators, is sexual suggestion.
  7. I would have to say that this, by far, is the most ridiculous post I have read...Saying that it is considered normal to watch a teenage male wrestler perform a "saturday night ride" on a female wreslter.... I can't even begin...So you think it is more acceptable to society to see a male perform a saturday night ride on a male? you did point out that BROKE(yea, not BROAK)Backmountain will receive oscars because of our perverted society, did you not? Okay here is the thing..nobody views wrestling as sexual..Because if they did, wouldn't it be ackward seeing two males wrestle?? You probably see boys put each other in honeymooners, don't you? And that doesn't bother you, so why would it with a girl? I mean, nobody says anything about that do they, so how is it perversion either way? If people can watch that without making a fuss, they can certainly watch a girl and a boy wrestler with no problems. And what do you call it when i am beating my opponent? Would it still be me putting a SATURDAY NIGHT RIDE on him? YOu need to rethink what you say. And don't even start on parents either... my parents are VERY supportive of me, and not because they don't care, but because I LOVE the sport with a PASSION. I don't do it to hump boys! Their only concern is that I don't get injured, much like ANY wrestlers parents.
  8. I have been my school's varsity 12 pounder and captain for two years.
  9. OK, you say let them compete with soccer, basketball, and football for a REAL challenge... Are you imposing that wrestling is not a REAL challenge? Well, quite frankly I think many people would disagree with this. Isn't it wrestlers that often sport shirts saying that "wrestling is what real men do during boys basketball season."? Well what you says implies that wrestling isnt a REAL challenge. And about the "imposing embarassment." thing. if you are a boy and lose to a legitimately tough gir, you shouldn't be embarrassed. And its not just boys. If I lose to someone I think I should have beat, I am embarassed so don't act like it only goes one way. And the whole 'contact' thing.. Wrestling is a CONTACT sport... and think about it, isn't it more normal to see boys and girls making contact than boys and boys? Hundreds of people will watch two boys grab each other, but it makes them uncomfortable to see it done to a girl? And you "know your boy would pin a gilr in less than ten seconds?" That rarely ever happens, and you shouldn't be so confident.
  10. Exactly. There is nothing wrong with some friendly boy-girl competition.
  11. Ok, So I have been wrestling for 3 years now, and have hard this argument A THOUSAND times. Girls are going to go out for the team, period. Just get over it. I lose some, I win some. Yes, when I beat a boy, they hear crap about it, but that's how guys are. Once they realize that some girls are just that good, they will be like, "good try man". If I were a boy wrestling 103 and lost to that girl in Alaska, I sure wouldn't be ashamed. The girl is tough, end of story. If I were to go out and lose to a girl, I wouldn't be happy with myself, and would just try harder. I have been doing this so long that I have the mind set of a boy. I don't want to lose to another girl any more than they do, but I sure wouldn't pitch a fit about it. And about the all girls team thing, there aren't enough girls to do that. I couldn't find enough girls in my school to make a varsity line up! there are only about 4 girls in my region, so how do you expect htere to be an all girls team? It would make things more difficult anyway! You would have to find a different practice spot, or practice at the same time as teh boys and take up space. One girl does not make a difference. If a girl is willing to wrestle hard and be tough, let her! If you are concerned about girls just coming out for attention, make them TRY-OUT and see if they can handle it! I have to do everything all the boys on my team do, and sometimes even more because I am naturally not as strong as a boy. And if you want to play volleyball so bad, go and ask. I am sure it could be arranged. And as for there being girls softball teams, they have BASEBALL for boys. So that isn't even a good argument. And lets say I beat an opponent, and he beats another boy. If that boy found out that he lost to someone who lost to a girl, would he hear crap from his friends? Probably not. Its all about looking bad. I would NEVER make somebody fell bad because I beat them. Everyone just needs to grow up. I am not doing this to scream GIRL POWER or anything, I just LOVE wrestling.
  12. Yea, it does make sense though! I'm glad you pointed it out! Maybe some other people will like the idea so they don't talk about moving it! lol
  13. Thats a really good idea. I can't believe nobody thought of it before. That way on an extra day or whatever, you wouldn't have that many people because the other teams may have left, along with THEIR fans.. so it isn't AS big of a crowd, but of course, still big none-the-less
  14. Well yea thats true, but consider that they used it this year for teams to warm up and such, so if there are , lets say, three teams in there warming up while four other matches are going on, thats three teams worth of people that aren't taking up space in the gym.
  15. There is a gallery on theleafchronicle.com, and now they have it to where you can actually order the pictures, and they send them to you framed.
  16. I am personally for keepin the duals at CHS... Although there are alot of people attending, bear in mind that they also use the smaller gym for matches, and even the cafeteria if they need it. That way everyone is spread out the majority of the time. And when finals comes around, it is only four schools wrestling, because many have left by then, and they pull out a second set of bleachers, so what, exactly, is the problem? It is also a better environment to be COMPLETELY SURROUNDED by your fans when you wrestle, not have them spread out all over the place. It pumps the wrestlers up to be surrounded by screaming fans. It would be very inconvenient to move it to Chattanooga..Clarksville High does an amazing job hosting it, and has done so over the years, so it should remain there.
  17. Congratulations Kenwood! You sure did surprise everyone, and you did amazing against bradley.. In my opinion, there should have been some more careful reffing in that match.
  18. I had fun my first year wrestling...I didn't have all the pressure and expectancy that I do now.. I was able to have fun because I was just learning. It is a little stressful though because you will come up against kids who have a lot of experience, but don't worry. Everytime you wrestle you are just gaining expewrience to get better
  19. Does anyone from Beech know why they cancelled the Northwest-Beech-Whitescreek tri yesterday? Our coach got a call at the end of the day saying it got canceled but we didn't figure out why...
  20. Well sounds like I have some tough competition this year...
