  1. lol, I know what your thinking, sorry though, I'm not who you think I am, however I do know what your talking about and he is waiting to see what happens, I think if a slot works out he would love the opportunity to work with Benny Monroe.
  2. Dont' get me wrong, I'm glad Derrick was hired so he can get to work, I know he will do a good job, however if they knew from day one he was the guy, the administration should of let the other candidates know, or at least given them some indication. However, I realize that isn't always possible. Anyways, who is he going to retain and who is he going to try and hire as a staff. This will be his biggest challenge in my mind.
  3. I'm sure what your saying is correct. I am glad he is able to begin work next week, as far as the reciprocal certificate from Georgia, be careful, even though georgia certificates are reciprocal, it's not that easy, he could take the praxis and become certified in Georgia, but not necessarily highly qualified, I guess it depends on if McMinn County will hire a teacher that isn't highly qualified in that area. I hope it works out for him either way, I'm just curious to know why was it that it was going to be a Summer hiring, or at least that is what the administrators were saying, and then all of a Sudden he is brought in, was there something going on the whole time that we didn't know about or did pressure get the best of them.
  4. I just got in from the game and they finally made a decision. Brandon Derrick will be named tomorrow according to sources at the bb game tonight. Congrats and good luck. By the way that Beau Brown kid can play some hoops.
  5. I think a decision has been made, you can probably expect a decision tomorrow afternoon, good luck!
  6. Let them run it, only to have everything change in a couple weeks after its over when they bring in a new guy, interesting, I'm sure you guys over in Decatur are eating this up, you should be,
  7. However the board does have the power to tell the Superintendent to give the go on hiring the coach, the board has more power than we all think, they just don't use it in this county. Most school boards run their systems, just not here.
  8. I am beginning to agree, the hold up is not coming from the administration at the high school, but from the central office, you would think the school board would show some cohunna's and step up. Afterall, are they not the ones who control the school systems, they are our elected officials if I'm not mistaken, and unless i'm wrong, Dr. Forgerty is appointed by them. It seems to me the school board needs to step in.
  9. I used to think Polk County politics were the worst in the region but I'm beginning to believe McMinn County BOE has them beat. Polk fires a good guy for no apparant reason and McMinn County BOE won't let their school hire a guy, I guess the thing I don't understand is that McMinn BOE just created an assistant superintendant position out of the blue and the Superintendant just signed a two year contract extension, however they can't hire a football coach because they have to hire a vocational spot first. Rumors have began that they might not hire until Summer. Unbelievable, what about spring practice, I also read no coaches there are opening up the weight room, it will take years to recover if they don't do something quick, very quick.
  10. I bet whoever is the last to hire will be last in the region. The other will probably be second to last, its amazing in McMinn County, they can create a spot for the Assistant Super., talk contract extensions for the current super, but can't hire a football coach because they have to fill a vocational spot first, I bet if it was basketball they would of already hired them.
  11. I would say you could move Sequoyah in front of Tellico and Central considering they aren't going to have coaches. Maybe the boys can pull it off by themselves.
  12. , what is going on? Does anyone know anything, heard anthing? Care about anything?
  13. You are correct, I did overlook that post, I for one think both guys just want a chance to take this program to the next level, though I am pulling for Davis, I know he thinks the world of Derrick and I'm sure Derrick does him also, good luck all.
  14. I really have debated about responding to this post, but like the previous poster just said, I can't help it, lol. First of all, why be negative towards either guy. I don't think Johnny was being negative, I don't think I have been negative towards either, I have only stated positives. I just hate to see relivmom bashing Davis for being able to be a part of a good program, last time I checked however, Northwest has never been a Georgia Powerhouse, if I'm not mistaking and if my research is correct, Northwest was 4-6 and 4-6 the two previous years before Davis joined the staff, his first year there they went 9-3 and won their first ever playoff game. Am I saying he did all that, NO, I'm saying he was a part of a strong staff that worked together to have success. You say he resigned when he felt pressure, What makes you think he had pressure to resign. Maybe he is like Derrick and would like to come back closer to home, I don't know, only he knows, but I assure you it wasn't because he received pressure. I guess my point is this, I have seen lots of post on here, some supporting Derrick and some supporting Davis, keep it at that, support your guy and if he gets it great, if not, dont bash the others. I'm sure if you asked Derrick, Davis, and Gossett you would never hear one negative word about the other, and that is how it should be. Good Luck to the future of McMinn Central and their new Coach, whoever he may be.
  15. Not against Derrick at all, all I know about him is second hand and nothing has been negative. I have never said anything negative about Derrick, from what I hear he is a great guy, I know Heath likes him and they are friends. Your right I do know Heath, I know him well. And no I'm not a student at central and I don't teach there, I just have a lot of friends in that community. Actually my opinion is that I would like to see them both there, I don't know is that can actually happen. As far as the raider fan stuff goes, I could care less about MTSU I happen to Like John Gruden when he was with the Oakland Raiders. What we need to remember is that no matter what we say on here is going to determine who gets the job. I think this is all getting bent out of shape. I wish all the candidates luck and hope whoever gets the job is able to get it going.
  16. As you guys might of guessed I am a Davis supporter, with that being said I would like to know your reasoning as to why he wouldn't stick around long. Do you know him? Have you talked to him about why he wants this job? And another question, why doesn't he have the classroom experience, oh ya, maybe its because he wanted to try and be the best coach he could be and pursued a dream of being a college coach. I guess what a lot of people don't understand is that in order to get to the top of your profession you have to take steps, Davis has taken those steps, sure he has moved around and been at a lot of different places, but isn't that what we should want, someone who has been there and seen it rather than being at one place his whole career. I mean are we looking for someone who is going to give us the best chance of building a program or someone who is going just stay here and be happy for the rest of their lives. I'm not saying Gossett or Derrick wouldn't or couldn't do a good job, I'm just saying we should quit worrying about whether or not someone is going to stay or leave, keep them happy and they will stay. I'm not trying to cause confrontation just making my case. Oh ya, and as far as Jack Slayton,
  17. So who has interviewed? Just to make a few corrections to the previous post. Derrick did coach one year at Lenoir City before going to Georgia with Wild where he and Davis both worked. Davis only stayed one year and left to coach at a junior college in Texas (Kilgore) for a couple of years. Derrick stayed with wild and is still there. Davis was a GA at Middle Tennessee and a student Mgr. at UTK.
  18. When do interviews start? Has anyone interviewed yet? When will we know something? and last of all what is the personalities of the candidates?
  19. I haven't heard anything about all that, all I know is that I haven't heard of any interviews or anything, does anyone even know what the process is going to be?
  20. Who knows what is going to happen. I didn't hear anything at the basketball game last night, as a matter of fact didn't even see the principle there. I just want to know when interviews are going to start or when Slayton is going to do an article on the applicants so we can find some stuff out.
  21. Charger, you make lots of good points. You seem to know quiet a bit about these guys, did you play at Central Also? I do agree this is probably Derrick's dream job from what I am hearing, but like I said I hear all kinds of stuff who knows, lol, I guess they just need to bring them in and interview and see who best fits the mold for Central. Your right, after checking around, Davis was more of a basketball guy when he was at Central. I also heard somewhere they have worked together in the past and are pretty good friends, what are the chances of getting them both here if one of them gets the job? Would they do that? To me that would be the best case scenerio. Didn't Derrick play QB? I would assume he is an offensive coach and I believe Davis is more of a Defensive coach, sounds like a good team to me, what do you think?
  22. I haven't heard about either of these, what makes you believe Monroe is leaving, I can't believe he would leave after one year.
  23. I heard they had a meeting over the weekend to discuss the candidates, i am interested in knowing what anyone has heard about the candidates.
