Really not called for, the kid may have really been hurt and couldn't continue. I too was right there during the match and his head bounced of the mat like a basketball. The official confirred with his assistant and got the call right in my opinion. It may not have looked "bad" to you, but according to the definition of illegal slam (his opponent hit the mat before he did) it was the correct call.
Just a region 9 fan especially Montgomery County Schools. 99.2% is a steep estimation of the dominance of CHS however, they are good. I wish them luck along with the other County schools.
Good math skills wizard. But as you admitted in another thread, the paper did make a mistake. Oh well, should be an exciting tournament. Good luck to all.
The minimum amount T$$AA tells the school to charge is $7.00. Thats the [/b]minimum. It is not the tournament director or the school that sets the minimum. They can charge more if they want. Kudos on only charging the minimum.
Since TSSAA has not posted the official times, does anyone know what the schedule is for the individual DI state tourney? I must not be looking in the right place. Thanks in advance.
I could not find that rule, is it in the handbook? If it is, I have not heard anything about any other regional tourny. Shouldn't they all be changed? This seems like something that should be taken care of yesterday or sooner.
Should they have assumed differently? Was there any verbal or written notification to the coaches? I can't understand the lack of communication by TSSAA. They couldn't have assumed that coaches would think that the state tournament would be different than it has been for years.
Athletic directors should have been notified when the change was made.
According to the TSSAA handbook found at http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/wrestling.pdf
"IV. STATE TOURNAMENT (Division I)
A. The state wrestling tournament shall be held the weekend of the third Saturday in February."
Get real bravo. There is a lot more at stake than UTC losing the tournament. I know some middle Tennessee schools are already not happy with students missing 2 days of school. It doesn't matter where it is. I think Chat is a great location, but if UTC cannot accomodate the state tourney then other venues need to be looked in to.
Are there any confirmations from coaches about the date change? Has TSSAA contacted any schools? Or is this just a big mix up. TSSAA need to ensure that the coaches are aware of this change if it is true.
Do you know what happened? This sure is kind of a shock. I am new to Tennessee, but am very familiar with Seay, Henson, and Hamilton and am pretty sure the latter two will be leaving as well. Sounds like politics in Chattown.
