  1. Really not called for, the kid may have really been hurt and couldn't continue. I too was right there during the match and his head bounced of the mat like a basketball. The official confirred with his assistant and got the call right in my opinion. It may not have looked "bad" to you, but according to the definition of illegal slam (his opponent hit the mat before he did) it was the correct call.
  2. Just a region 9 fan especially Montgomery County Schools. 99.2% is a steep estimation of the dominance of CHS however, they are good. I wish them luck along with the other County schools.
  3. Good math skills wizard. But as you admitted in another thread, the paper did make a mistake. Oh well, should be an exciting tournament. Good luck to all.
  4. Yeah the Leaf Chronicle will favor CHS 99.2% of the time. JD Alexander did win at 145. Pretty handily I must add.
  5. The minimum amount T$$AA tells the school to charge is $7.00. Thats the [/b]minimum. It is not the tournament director or the school that sets the minimum. They can charge more if they want. Kudos on only charging the minimum.
  6. Yes, thank you, they finally posted it.
  7. Are all the soddy kids that dropped for the state duals, staying there for regions?
  8. Does anyone know the schedule? What time weigh-ins are and start time of first round.
  9. Since TSSAA has not posted the official times, does anyone know what the schedule is for the individual DI state tourney? I must not be looking in the right place. Thanks in advance.
  10. I could not find that rule, is it in the handbook? If it is, I have not heard anything about any other regional tourny. Shouldn't they all be changed? This seems like something that should be taken care of yesterday or sooner.
  11. Where can we get the times of rounds and all that. I cant find anything on the TSSAA site. Can someone please direct me?
  12. Should they have assumed differently? Was there any verbal or written notification to the coaches? I can't understand the lack of communication by TSSAA. They couldn't have assumed that coaches would think that the state tournament would be different than it has been for years. Athletic directors should have been notified when the change was made. According to the TSSAA handbook found at http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/wrestling.pdf "IV. STATE TOURNAMENT (Division I) A. The state wrestling tournament shall be held the weekend of the third Saturday in February."
  13. Get real bravo. There is a lot more at stake than UTC losing the tournament. I know some middle Tennessee schools are already not happy with students missing 2 days of school. It doesn't matter where it is. I think Chat is a great location, but if UTC cannot accomodate the state tourney then other venues need to be looked in to. Are there any confirmations from coaches about the date change? Has TSSAA contacted any schools? Or is this just a big mix up. TSSAA need to ensure that the coaches are aware of this change if it is true.
  14. So what is the state lookin like at 130 this year?
  15. Do you know what happened? This sure is kind of a shock. I am new to Tennessee, but am very familiar with Seay, Henson, and Hamilton and am pretty sure the latter two will be leaving as well. Sounds like politics in Chattown.
  16. Why have they not been updated.
  17. The only thing that makes the idea perverse are the people who think that it is perverted. I have seen many young men wrestle girls and have had a couple girls wrestle boys. Never had they themselves felt or thought that the idea was perverse. As I said before, I would definitely allow my daughters to wrestle if they so desired to. I will not pressure them too nor will I discourage it. My only fear if they choose to wrestle is that ignorant people will portray her pursuit for gold as a perverted act. I think this thread should end and we should just agree to disagree on this topic. The bottom line is that girls will wrestle and there is little that will or can be done to stop it.
  18. I'm sorry, but when an 8 seed "upsets" a 1 seed it is either an upset, or the brackets were not correctly seeded.
  19. Just got home from Cheatham, we wrestled 2 rounds and are expecting to start back up with weigh-ins at 8am tomorrow. Not sure that will happen, roads are getting pretty messed up with more to come. One upset to report, Weakly from Clarksville at 130 lost to Shelton from Kenwood. Not sure their were any other upsets.
  20. Before making assumptions based on my post, please know that in know way am I defending TSSAA or stating that they should not review this instance. That being said, I think that their fear is in openning up a Pandoras box in any review. As for TSSAA being self-serving, I don't know. I am new to Tennessee and would hope that an organization such as this would be FOR the kids, so I keep an open mind until they otherwise prove themselves. Please keep us informed on this situation, who knows, maybe TSSAA will make the correct call.
  21. Actually, I think it does apply to some degree. A lot of people have posted their concern regarding the boys moralle and being ruined emotionally because he lost to a girl. Lets face it we will lose jobs, contracts, sales etc. to women, so in a back handed kind of way it does apply.
  22. I totally agree. My girl wrestler is very dedicated to the sport, works as hard if not harder than most of the guys on the team. She deserves a shot just like anyone else. As for being fearful of a suit, we are all capable of being accused of doing inappropriate things. We must guard ourselves and be aware of who we are around and where. To not allow a person the opportunity to compete is unfair. I have two daughters 4 and 6. If they want to wrestle, then I will help train them, if they want to dance... well then I will pay someone else to train them. Girls wrestling is growing, that is the fact. Until they grow enough to start separate programs, then I say let them compete.
  23. I totally agree. It will take someone from TSSAA to make a move but we certainly can voice opinions.
  24. WOW That is great. You are very funny stovepipe. I have saved that quote on my desktop and will be using it sometime in my life.
  25. Is everyone in Chattanooga as arrogant and ignorant as the group in this thread? Maybe they are all related. I do agree that it could be in a larger more accommodating location. Austin Peay I think would love to have it and I bet the other schools in the area would like to help run it. That is just my opinion. I simply like seeing the kids get wrestling time and to compete at a high-ranking tourney makes it all the more wonderful.
