  1. Yeah, Coach Rick plans those games back to back to simulate a state tournament schedue.
  2. Dude, if you want to enjoy yourself Friday, Go to the Ebony Fashion show at the Civic Center. Bolivar usually doesn't play well at Southside. But they will still win. Just wait and get ready for the Haywood game.
  3. Let down game against Southside. Bolivar by 8. Bolivar seems to get up for Haywood. Great atmosphere for High School Bball. Bolivar by 7.
  4. Wayne has held his own against some of the top prep players in the country (B. Wright, G. Oden, J. Bennett.) He has played in a lot of big games and played well. He has had good teaching from the coaching staff at Bolivar and Tennessee is very high on him. Hard worker. Great attitude. Great fit for UT.
  5. Amen. They probably will not three peat, though. That's just extremely tough to do. They are still a fun team to watch and every night is a playoff atmosphere because everybody wants to beat them.
  6. What's up with Hamilton's guard play and what other high school teams are playing on that day?
  7. I did enjoy the Lexington student section. They were ready for the game.
  8. Yeah you will. Lexington fans are just like a Timex watch. They take a licking and keep on ticking.

    BOLIVAR

I have not seen Lexington play but they sure have some diehard fans. These are the funniest posts I have read since the Dyer Co. fans and the Giles Co. fans used to go back and forth. The bad thing for Lexington is that they are catching Bolivar after a loss. Coach Rick has only lost consecutive games 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years. So my prediction is Bolivar by 8. As a Bolivar fan, I know Bolivar's trends. They will lose at least one more game before the tournament and possibly a regular season district game. It happened last year with Liberty. They will use that loss as motivation for the tournament. However, that loss will not come against Lexington.
  10. Mitchell went to St. Louis and beat Vashon High School. I think they won that tournament in Forrest City too. People don't realize that it is easy for a team to get ready to play a nationally ranked team like Mitchell with high profile players. It is not as easy for teams like Mitchell and Bolivar to get mentally ready to play lesser competition. That's why teams like Mitchell, Bolivar, and Brentwood Academy will occasionally drop a game to teams like Fayette Ware and Kirby. When the schedules came out, most of the teams in the area immediately circled the Mitchell game or the Bolivar game whereas Mitchell players/fans circled Vashon and the Beach Ball Classic. The best teams will start to show up in February/March. BTW, please explain why everyone says Mitchell has poor coaching. This coach has a State ring if I am not mistaken. Wasn't he the coach at Kingsbury when they beat us (Bolivar) in 1998? We had won 25 games in a row that year and had beaten Covington (no. 1 in the state at the time) pretty easily. But Kingsbury beat us in the 'Boro. I have not watched Mitchell much but it amazes me when people doubt a coach who has accomplished something that most of these schools are still in search of.

  12. Mtown, All Bolivar Basketball conversations begin with "I remember when Jose Crisp did......." Don't forget about Jose Crisp and Kenneth Reaves. Tron Sain, Rod Griggs, and Rashad Smith should also be talked about.
  13. Here is an interesting point. Bolivar is the only team that plays every other team on this list. They are currently 2-0 v/s teams on this list. They know how to raise their game when it counts.

  15. I am from Bolivar and I have no idea who we are talking about. I read this guy's posts all of the time but I did not know who he was nor was I aware that a local youth had passed away. Could someone respectfully give me a hint as to who he was?
  16. Liberty, 20 plus. However, I think McNairy is a little better than last year.
  17. Would someone from Memphis respond to this. I am sure Hamilton, Treadwell, BTW, or one of the Memphis city schools could make this claim too.
  18. Fayette Ware should probably be in there somewhere.
  19. I am looking forward to the future matchups between Chris Reaves and Ricky Taylor. These players should give us some pretty good basketball over the next couple of years. I wish Coach Vanardo all the luck in the world. He should have a lot of success with the players that he is currently developing.
  20. tomcat, I agree with you. Haywood is a lot like Bolivar. Both teams are playing young players. Hopefully, the younger players will get better as the year progresses. If so then both teams will be right where they need to be in March.
  21. BB28, Prior to Willie, Bolivar had players such as Cameron Crisp, Ashley Champion, and Brian Lake. All of whom played in the state tournament, were Mr. Basketball finalist (Crisp was MR. Basketball in 2000), and recieved college scholarships. There are people in Bolivar who believe that Bolivar's late 90's teams were better than our state championship teams. This may not be the best Bolivar team that Willie has played on. However, it is far from weak. It really looks a lot like last year's team. Last year Bolivar lost regular season games to Liberty and Fayette Ware. They really looked average until tournament time when they beat every team in the District, Region, Sectional, and State tournament by 15 pts or more (except for MLK and Raleigh Egypt). I am not saying that will happen this year. I just believe that a team that has not lost a post season tournament game in over 2 years should not be counted out in December.
  22. Bolivar had question marks this time last year. Right now, the seniors are getting used to the younger players and the coaching staff is doing a lot of experimenting. They will get it together by March.
