  1. I go to Jefferson County High School and somehow have missed out on the school spirit! It's not that I haven't tried to have it. I had a lot of school pride in middle school. I was involved in sports in middle school, but did not even want to participate in high school. Not all students feel the same as #52. I will not say anymore than that for fear of getting the post closed since all the other posts have been.
  2. I think it's funny how easily people can trash the players who started the lawsuit. It's also funny how people recommend that there be a meeting with the parents, Mr. Schnietman, and Coach U. Do you not think people have tried talking to the principlal? Do you think the players who started the lawsuit really wanted to? There have been people talking to people in authority and what good has it done? Atleast the lawsuit has opened people's eyes. Everyone talks about coach bashing, but all I hear is people bashing the ones who started the lawsuit. Some of the ones who are playing now also signed the petition.
  3. Jeff County has over 2000 students and look at our football team. It's pathetic!
  4. Jefferson County also has over 2,000 students. Jeff County middle schools have dominate football programs. So what's wrong with the high school? I started a thread about Jeff County. You should check it out and post your opinions on the Jeff Co. thread
  5. I think the problem is that too many people are listening to people outside the football field. I am sure if there had been a different coach the past 2 seasons would have turned out differently. I don't see how people can support Coach U and act like it's the kids. Jeff County never had a situation like this before he came along. I just don't see how people can say we need to give him a chance. I think we already have and look at where it got us. I don't think Jeff County can heal until changes are made. I totally agree about there being no school spirit. I am a student and I have no desire to be in the Jungle. It isn't fun anymore. I used to cheer, but when I got to high school I had no desire to even tryout. Sports aren't fun when they get to that level because people take it too seriously.
  6. In my opinion, taking Coach Euverard's word because he is so "credible" is what made this mess so much worse. Instead of just taking his word because he is an adult, the administration should have checked into all the complaints. You gotta give the kids a little credit come on. Also, I don't see how anyone can say JCHS had a problem before Coach Euverard came. Yeah, Coach Meadows left after 2 years because he got a better job, but before that it was Coach K who was Coach for like 20 something years.
  7. I got sick of everyone running down the players. There was no problem at JCHS until Coach U came. It's not about winning. It is about playing football and having fun doing it. Also I asked if it was true about Oakland I didn't know.
  8. Where can I found Euverard's record at Oakland? What years were he there?
  9. I think highschool football is about the players not the coaches. I believe that when a coach comes in and half the team quits because they don't want to play for him, then it is time for the school to look for a new coach. I don't think that the players, who have lived here all their life, should have to quit or get kicked off a team because a new coach moves here. It's not right and it's not fair. If just one player quits I understand but when it's half the team there is something up.
  10. What makes you think it is "my friends" making a mistake and not Coach Euverard? Why does everyone assume that? Also I asked about Oakland because that is what I heard and I figured it wasn't true just wanted to check. My point is only the players on the field really know what has happened and I just don't understand why everyone is taking the coach's side. And also I believe that this all could have been avoided if the administration had really checked into it to begin with.
  11. There were more players who signed then there were ones who didn't
  12. So what were the consequences the guys who signed the petition but lied about it recieved? Also, don't you think that "reap what you sow" also goes for Coach U?
  13. I have a question. I heard that Euverard ran Oakland's program into the ground and that half the team had quit while he was there too. Is this true? Why did he leave Oakland anyway?
  14. Just for a little background information. I am a JCHS student. I know the players who got kicked off, even went to middle school with all but one of them. I am a very close friend of the guy who got hit by Coach Euverard in the face. And I also had Coach Euverard and one of the other coaches in class. No I don't play football, but considering I am a girl that shouldn't be surprising. I may not know as much as some people about football, but I know enough to know that Euverard is not the coach for Jeff County. I think it is odd that everyone can get on here and say that he is when half the team quit. You know maybe there are some spoiled brats on the team but I highly doubt that all the kids who signed the petition are. Filing a law suit does sound drastic, but maybe if the administration would have listened to the kids in the first place or done a real investigation on all the "allegations" this all could have been avoided. Also it is my understanding that the parents had nothing to do with the petition. I understand that it was typed up by one of the players. They did not plan to show anyone until after the season that way the team would not suffer. Another thing is you call the players left on the team "true patriots", aren't they the ones who signed and then lied about it? If he's so big on discipline and punnishment what did he do to them who lied to his face? I just think that everyone should stop dogging the players when they were the ones there and are just standing up for themselves.
