  1. I was at TC when it all started in 1962 (when Jim Satterfield became the head coach). He was my assistant coach for two years and my head coach for two years. We won 10 games the two years before he became our head coach and we 20 games the first two years he was head coach.
  2. Mr. Ambassador, I hope you are right. I'm an old TC fan, and when I look at the statistics I feel good, but when I look at Watertown's 6-game win streak, and their games against FCS and Oneida, I get a little concerned. I think both TC and SP better be careful and take both their opponents seriously this week. If we are both successful, we'll meet for a huge game on the creekbank. I drove from Huntsville, AL to South Pittsburg when they met last year, and asuming both teams win their Friday night games, I plan on driving to TC for the match between these two teams again.
  3. With last year's trophy and about $1.00 you can buy a cup of coffee at McDonald's. That's how much last year's championship means this year. The slate is clean every year, and the previous year's champ has to earn the right to come back and compete for the championship again. If SP beats FCS and TC, they will be a long way toward making it back to the boro, but that is yet to be determined. Although last year's team was a great team, and this year SP has another great team, they will have to win the championship on the field again this year, and last year's championship has nothing to do with how the championship will be determined this year. The gold ball is only good for one year; it does not mean that by default you are the champs the following year. I have great respect for SP and their football program. I think they have as good or better chance of winning the championship again this year as any other 1A team. I just don't like arrogance.
  4. Watertown Defeated: Clay County 26-6 Mt Juliet Christian 49-6 Red Boiling Springs 44-22 Gordonsville 25-7 Monterey 33-6 Watertown Lost To: Friendship Christian 7-13 Trousdale County 7-45 Trousdale County Defeated: Clay County 58-15 Mt Juliet Christian 66-12 Red Boiling Springs 59-6 Gordonsville 35-0 Monterey 38-10 Friendship Christian 28-6 Watertown 45-7 Total Points For and Against TC 329 to 56 H2oTown 191 to 105 Based on the stats above, it doesn't look good for Watertown. However, Coach Creasy said in an interview after the Silverdale game that it is hard to beat a team twice in one season. How much of a factor does revenge play in this game. Also, Watertown has won six games in a row; does that make a difference?
  5. For what it's worth, the scores for the SP/LOV and FCS/LOV games are provided below South Pittsburg 49 at Lookout Valley 0 Lookout Valley 14 at FCS 35
  6. I finally found the score for this game on CoachT's scoreboard - see below. Lookout Valley 14 Friendship Christian 35
  7. I have been going backand forth between TSSAA.org and CoachT looking for a score for this game, and it has not been reported on either scoreboard. Does anyone know the final score?
  8. I have only been to one high school football game in over 10 years, but I am leaving Alabama to go this game in about an hour. Is the football field at the same location as the school (5400 Coles Ferry Pike)? I'm trying to do a little trip plannig. How long do high school football games generally last? Do you think the game will be over by 8:30? That's 2.5 hours.
  9. Go to wtnk.com (local station in Hartsville, TN); they start brodcating before game time (e.g. interview coaches).
  10. Thanks for your kind reply. Generally, I enjoy reading the comments on CoachT, but I don't reply much. However, the FCS-TC game is a huge game for Region 4, and I decided to analyze the results against common opponents. Although the paper results look good for my team (TC), I have to consider those other factors, and when I do, I get worried. FCS is 8-0, playing on their home field (which I forgot to mention a a factor), and they have defeated some of the common teams by margins similar to those of TC. I'll have to drive over 100 miles to see this game, but I plan on doing that. I hope I drive away happy.
  11. WTNK generally broadcasts the Trousdale County football games; just go to wtnk.com and listen to it on interet.
  12. FCS Scores Against Common Opponents Clay County 28-00 Watertown 13-07 Monterey 34-07 Gordonsville 48-22 Totals: 123-36 TC Scores Against Common Opponents Clay County 58-15 Watertown 45-07 Monterey 38-10 Gordonsville 35-00 Totals: 176-32 There are lots of factors that make the scores against common opponents less than fool-proof predictors of what will happen when the two schools meet. Some of these are: How long were the starters in the games? Were any key players injured and/or not playing in any of the common opponents games?Did the coach of the winning team try to run up or hold back the score? Are the particular strengths and weaknesses of team given enough priority? For example, if all the common opponents of Team X had good "run-the-ball" offenses, but poor passing offenses, and Team Y (which has an excellent passing offense plays Team X (which is good against the ground game and has a poor pass defense), scores against common opponents might not mean much.Any team can beat another team on any given night regardless of previous records. Sometimes emotional preparation and desire to win will outweigh all previous results Although I am an OldFootballPlayer from TC, and I hope the Jackets win, I realize that scores betwwen common opponents are interesting to talk about and discuss on internet, but in this particular game, I tink the last factor listed above may be the most important determining factor.
  13. 3RD QUARTER SCORE (TIME UNKNOWN- SCOREBOARD CLOCK NOT FUNCTIONING) TC - 13 SC - 00
  14. I have probably played more years of football than you ever thought about playing - I have played at the semi-pro level. I'm not from Red Boiling Springs, but I have heard about their struggling program, and I wish them the best. I hope they win one or more games this year. I am well aware of their football history, but sometimes miracles do happen, and I was hoping for one tonight.
  15. Thanks to PURPLEandGOLD, sportman, and zonepirate for help in directions to the stadium. My wife read on internet that they were building a new stadium, and I thought the stadium and schools might be at two separate locations. That's the way it was at TC when I played there many years ago (under Clint's Dad). However, if the stadium and the school are at the same location, that makes it easy, and sportman's directions ought to get me there. It's rare that I am close enough to attend a Yellow Jackets game, but I'm hoping to see this one. From everything I have read on this message board, South Pittsburg has an exceptionally good or great team and/or they played a weak schedule. I fear that the answer is that they are a great team regardless of their schedule, and I just hope Clint can figure out how to stop them.
  16. I have been looking on internet for directions to the South Pittsburg Football Stadium, but have not found any yet. Can someone please tell me how to get to the stadium (coming from Huntsville, AL on Hwy 72)?
  17. The score below was copied directly from CoachT's Scoreboard - Final Scores. Trousdale Co. vs 24 Temple 18 1A 2nd Rd Lookout Valley
  18. According to CoachT's Scoreboard, Trousdale County was ahead 17-12 at the half.
  19. The reference to "ole fox Satterfield" is interesting to me. Clint was just a little boy when I played for his Dad, Jim Satterfield. I don't know Clint, but if he is anything like his Dad, he is both a great person and a great coach. The first year his Dad took over as head coach, we were 9-2, and the second year we were 11-0. Back then we only had bowl games (no playoffs and no classifications). His teams played 32 games without a loss before losing to Glencliff in the Tobacco Bowl. Jim Satterfield is in the TSSAA Hall of Fame, and I bet Clint is headed there too.
