  1. Powell has more than three players.
  2. Yeah, I think you are right. I'm sure that Coach Norris was not disappointed when he heard the score last night. Oak Ridge deserves the district. They have been the best team all year long. I still wonder though about their lack of depth and whether that will catch up to them eventually. Their starting five is really good. But, I think that Ricky is only going about seven deep right now. DCCATVOICE correct me if I am wrong on that.
  3. Winning close games is the sign of a well-coached team.
  4. Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm sure that if Clinton had won, the box score would be in the paper. But, who cares, big game at Farragut Monday night for the Panthers.
  5. Guess those people dogging Chris Conner are eating a little crow. He had 24 tonight, including 4 free throws on 2 1 and 1's late to seal it. All in all, really good game. I know that Dye and Dixon really wanted to win this game, but they will be a handfull in the tournament. Dye was sensational as usual. Powell probably needs Lee to score more than 5 points, but the team is really coming together and playing well as a unit.
  6. My definition of team chemistry is includes the following elements: 1. Everyone on the team cares about winning or some common goal more than anything individual. 2. Everyone on the team is willing to play their hardest because they care that much about their teammates. 3. Everyone on the team understands their role and everyone else's role on the team and is comfortable with it.
  7. Isn't it nice to know that the game will actually be decided by players and coaches, rather than fans?
  8. Just out of curiosity, does Clinton have anyone who can guard Lee Smith or Chris Conner?
  9. Should be a really good game. Powell has lost a few homes this year, but Clinton is not one of them (77-72). I'm also not sure, but I think that Powell beat Clinton in the District Tournament last year as well. But, neither of those games were at Clinton.
  10. Are you kidding me? They have stormed Powell's court the last two years in a row. If Webster really said that, it is sour grapes, plain and simple. And I disagree about the calls. Two charges were called on Smith where Varner clearly flopped. And Conner got hacked on the arm while shooting at least four times with no calls. But, of course, Cameron got all those same calls. Please give me an example of a time when you thought that Powell got a bad call in their favor. I can't wait to hear it.
  11. To be completely frank, I thought that Halls got a heck of a lot more calls than Powell did. Free throw shooting hurt both teams, but big win for Powell. The atmosphere was really good.
  12. Anybody have any thoughts? These teams have played two close games this year with the Devils pulling them both out.
  13. Cruze is a quitter. He quit on his team the day before the district tournament. I'm glad he is playing ball at Holy Cross, but what he did is almost unforgivable. No matter how bad you hate your coach, how can you desert your teammates like that? As for JD, he is a good man AND a good coach, and he made good adjustments during the game against Powell, including running a box and one on Chris Conner for most of the fourth quarter, which is when Central took control of the game. He also beat Powell without Ben Williamson playing. It did not help that Powell's tool bag of an assistant coach (Hawkins) got a technical foul either.
  14. Smith was not there last night. His brother was there in the student section and they are twins, but Lee was at home resting.
  15. I heard that he was pretty sick. How about that officiating?
  16. Did Maryville beat Oak Ridge tonight?
  17. The last several times that these two teams have played have been classics, with Oak Ridge narrowly winning every time. Will tomorrow night be any different at Powell? I think that if Oak Ridge wins, they probably take the regular season district title.
  18. Smith did not play for Powell last night. The paper said he was sick. Conner played well and so did their little point guard, who is supposedly a freshman.
  19. Of course they have a chance. Karns beat Powell recently, took Oak Ridge to the buzzer at Oak Ridge and narrowly lost games to Campbell County and West. In this district, anybody can beat anybody on a given night. Having said that, I think that Clinton is playing the best basketball in the district and they should win the game.
  20. I disagree. I think the competition in East Tennessee this year is great. But, I don't think that either Science Hill or Bearden will reach the State Tournament. Bearden is having a truly great season, but they are doing it with smoke and mirrors. When they run up against a good defensive team, like those in District 3AAA, they will lose. Science Hill is not impressive either. Watted and Forney are all that they have. They would lose to Oak Ridge, Clinton, Halls, Powell or Bearden.
  21. The above is a nice example of a pathetic post. Both of these teams are pretty good. Clay Segers is the red-headed kid's name and he may have had an off night, but he is the heart and soul of that team. He's a heck of a good player. I'm sure that Dixon or Dye would say the same thing.
  22. District 3AAA is better than District 4AAA. Last year, District 3 won 3 out of 4 in the Region and may well sweep this year.
  23. District 3AAA Tournament is at Campbell County Region 2AAA Tournament is at Sevier County
  24. It will be a battle. My guess is that these teams will split with both winning at home. Howz that for a bold prediction?
